The Red Lion Oxford

We went Easter Sunday for a family lunch the food was very good and the service the young lady that served us was very helpful and kind. We would recommend The Red Lion in oxford .

Service and food was very good. Staff were very attentive. Just a shame there were not more diners in at the same time to create an atmosphere. I appreciate that is something that is out of your control.

What a wonderful experience at the Red Lion. The Staff were exceptional! Did feel sorry for them though as no Air con and they really were working hard! Food was fantastic, we had the Pork Belly would highly recommend this roast dinner. Will definitely be back again. Thank you to all The Red Lion.

Our waitress was lovely apologetic for the lack of heating, it was so cold in there. We were sat next to a radiator which we placed our coats over to block the cold coming from the radiator. Very crowded tables to close together no room. Possibly the worst time I’ve ever visited The Red Lion which is sad as normally enjoy going there.

Went for a Sunday roast with family from out of town, however we found out once we got there that they were out of roasts. This was very disappointing. The food we did get was quite good however. As well, the facilities worked well for us with a toddler. They have a high chair and change table available making the booking much less stressful Ver carta

My wife ordered the mushroom risotto which was listed as the chief special. It was inedible. The accompanying broccoli was over salted and also inedible. The lamb dinner was good. The burgers were ok. They take reservations like a restaurant but it’s a pub. Everything is ordered at the bar which is fine if you know it’s just a pub. Drinks were excellent.

The food was mediocre at best. My scallops were overcooked and tough, the risotto they sat on was stodgy and Luke warm. My husband had the mushroom starter which was tepid at best and his roast beef dinner was tasty but basically Luke warm and cold by the time he had finished it. We were disappointed and will be unlikely to return. The staff were pleasant but service was a little slow and disjointed.

Our waitress was very helpful when we were choosing which wine to have. She took our food order when she delivered wine and water to our table. Food arrived very quickly, starters were delicious,the mushrooms could have done with a little more flavour,trout and crab rillett was very tasty. Traditional Christmas turkey dinner arrived at the table hot and plentiful. We wernt able to have dessert as we were full up! Ver carta
