"Finishing our walk around the nearby nature reserve, the pub was a welcome sight! It is beautifully set on the main street leading up to the top of Little Baddow, and proudly features a lovely beer garden on a slope to its Western side. There is a good selection of drinks, warm food and sandwiches. The place has quite a history (built around 1650) and the owners have made sure the interior is richly decorated with lots of items around a nautical theme. The collection of beer mats adorning the ceiling around the bar to the right of the entrance is worth admiring. Note: the pub serves food but you may have to wait to be served so don't be in a hurry! Enjoy the atmosphere and a good conversation. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, a great testimony of local hospitality."

We found this lovely little pub on Saturday with a beautiful beer garden and we had one of the best Thai green curries ever.... Definitely going back again when in the area.

Had a lovely pint of Ruby Mild in perfect condition and very good ham, egg and homemade chips for lunch at a real lighter meal price. Wish this was my local. Landlord was friendly as well.

Great pub in a beautiful area of Essex with many excellent public walks nearby. Good beer, a large garden and good, inexpensive food. Go for a walk, then finish with a PInt and some dug know that you deserve it.

A great little cozy pub to spend a sunny Sunday and watch the time to fly. Has a beautiful decor and charm over the place, beautiful to see the horses going on the street, a good beer garden also, and some really nice real beer on tap and a perfect pint of Guinness! Very friendly staff will definitely come back in fact

A great pub. We've been here for a few years. Beautiful old pub interior with wooden floors and beams and flawless beer garden with plenty of seating. The landlord always has a few real ales and ciders on tap that regularly change and a good selection of gins and vodka shots. Very recommended for a nice relaxing drink in a beautiful environment.
