"There are three different dining areas in the hotel including one which could be used for a family gathering or special occasion. The latter and one of the other areas both overlook the water and hills at the front of the hotel so if your...looking for a view best to ask. We were staying a few nights as residents and were automatically allocated a table with a view which was good. The other dining area alongside the lounge bar is attractively furnished and decorated. There are quality paintings from local artists on the walls throughout the hotel which acts as gallery space. Breakfast was served overlooking the water and there was a good choice of items including porridge, full Scottish with tattie scones), black pudding, etc all using quality products nicely cooked. Excellent. We had two evening meals, again served in the area overlooking the water. There was a decent selection of items on the menu representing local dishes and other popular choices. Eight starters priced between £5 £11; ten mains dishes £14 £25; and 5 desserts £6 £12. On our first evening I chose Loch Fyne Scallops £11) and my wife the Langoustines £11) which were both poached in a lemon white wine. The scallops were perfectly cooked and delicious as were the langoustines although my wife found dealing with the shells a bit of a fiddle. For mains we both had Sirloin Steaks served with a whisky sauce and accompanied with mushrooms, tomato and chips £25). Again the food was cooked to our preference and of a very good quality. On our second evening we had Haggis bon bons with a whisky sauce £8) and Bruschetta £7) for starters followed by Fish Chips £14). The food again was very good. There were a number of guests dining and there was a good ambiance. Service was efficient and pleasant in our experience and we were able to retire to the guest lounge after our meals for some drinks in very comfortable surroundings. Overall, quality food nicely cooked and served."

We stayed for 2 nights. Our room, No 4, was very comfortable and had a beautiful view looking over to the Kyles of Bute. Greg, the owner was very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

Eve Birthday stay. Spent a weekend at the Royal hotel for my wife birthday. Food was fantastic all weekend. David and all the staff went over and above to make our weekend special. Had paddle board with me to. Water was great. Will definitely stay...again

Booked one night in October. Delighted with room 2. Kyles' facing spacious room with very comfortable 4 poster bed. Had dinner in hotel. Small and sharing tapas on offer. All delicious but we ordered too many. Excellent breakfast. Very Covid wary and felt very safe....Highly recommended.

we had a recommendation from a beautiful local lady to try the royal for eating. not disappointed, the meal was simply beautiful and so clean and tasty. the staff was very pleasant and helpful. additional bonus, we could take our dog, they have a small. section of the restaurant for four legged friends. if we visit next, we will definitely be back. Many thanks.

last minute decision to get away for the weekend, and young it was a good! huge room, en-suite bathroom was a whole room in itself with large shower, roll-top tub and noodles of the room. bed was huge and beautiful and firm, slept with. vigilant open to be woken up from the early morning light that radiates the silver cyles from bute. breakfast was great, coffee ingenious, all round large square.

a 70th birthday meal for a group of 26. the event was a big success. good communication with the employees in the pre-season of the meal. Many of the choices and when the food came, we all found it delicious. (unbelievable to serve the children the...hisky ice cream was creepy! They all slept well in the night. the personal is very pleasant. light mix with the birthday cake they very smoothly sorted out. would definitely recommend this place for a group meal.

we booked as it was one of the hotels in the opposite where we lived. we decided not to take our dog because he takes a lot of space, but he would have been welcome. the hotel was very well designed, but we were made to feel very relaxed at our arrival, the man in the waist, probably the manager was full of sweat and charm. the waitress was beautiful and encouraged our serviette folding. the food was very good and we are glad that we have met this choice, we had a nice chat with the 2 men and their dog (the dog had not much to say) the next table. we would recommend both for eating and for the atmosphere. beautiful evening.
