"We had been loyal customers of the Royal Oak under the previous management and were shocked when it closed down in September 2023. We are delighted that it is up and running again under new management, and it was absolutely thriving when we went and had a fabulous Sunday lunch last week. Food, drink, service, and atmosphere were all top notch. If there was one thing that could be improved, it would be to get rid of the piped music. It's annoying, unnecessary and unavoidable. I really hope the Royal Oak succeeds this time round. The problem is that the village of Leighterton is tiny and cut off, so the Royal Oak has to be a destination pub that people know about and want to visit. Local custom alone won't keep it going. Let's hope that enough people come."

Lovely ambience with open fires. Good menu, crab burger very tasty. Attentive service. Would definitely recommend and we will be returning.

Amazing food! Went for a Sunday roast very impressed. Very generous and good quality food. The decor (farrow and ball green and painted brick) is very nice. We went here by chance but will def be coming back and bringing guests. The roast potatoes were amazing.

We have just had a lovely meal here on Saturday night, i had the venison in a suet pie, the wife had the Veg pie. Both were superb, we couldn't fault the food. The staff were very nice and the pub is a lovely old building, we have been here many times and will return.

Although I've enjoyed a few previous visits to the Royal Oak and was pleased to see it has reopened, our vegetarian burger was not as described and bland and cool. The menu overall looked great but maybe we chose poorly! Lovely pub just a very disapointing meal on this occasion.

Haven’t been to the Royal Oak since it got taken over back in Nov 23, but we stopped by today for Sunday lunch. Have to say the food was outstanding. Starters were amazing and the fried rhubarb and custard pie was out of this world. The roast was very good with amazing Yorkies, veg n meat. Great to see this place back on the map for great food.

A great welcoming atmosphere from our arrival and throughout the evening for the four of us in between Christmas and New Year. Absolutely fantastic food and service from the amazing crispy oyster mushroom canapés to the superb Apple mille-feuille that we all had for desert. Plus squeezing in playing some board games! A great evening. Thank you to the whole team. We'll be back soon.

Love this pub! It is a great base for a good lengthy walk. We were sad to hear it had closed last year, so delighted that it has reopened, this time under new management. Wonderful service, great food (slow roast pork and winter veg pie). Enjoyed the Shangri-la beer recommended by staff. Log fires, a proper village pub, not at all snooty, but very well done and hard working staff. We immediately booked for our next visit in February!

What a wonderful find! I was staying locally with family for a staycation and saw this lovely restaurant recommended highly from Tripadvisor, and it didn't disappoint. The menu was varied and had great options for all meat/fish/veggie lovers, even with one or two items being off. The burger was brilliant and the curried fish was absolutely delicious. A really lovely guy running it all and very comfortably decorated, this place is definitely worth a visit for some brilliant food, cocktails/beer and a nice evening out.

"I had been in this pub for a while, but my family and I were on the way from cheltenham to Westonbirt at 17 o'clock and called for an early dinner. all four of us said that the meal was faultless, we enjoyed all three courses and cannot praise this place enough. such a great atmosphere, cordial greeting from the incredibly fabulous staff and a seat directly at the log tariff. what more can they demand. it is easy to find, beautiful location and has plenty of parking right next to the pub. in summer there is a large garden back. in februar this is the place to eat when they go to visit the colesbourne snowdrop gardens that are right in front of the house and not to miss. the menu at the colesbourne inn is huge and offers for everyone something wonderful, regardless of their taste or nutrition to choose. my calamari ‘Bar Bite’ size starter was superb and definitiw a greater part than we expected. the other appetizers, a black bell and black pudding with fried egg was superb as well as the bread selection we also ordered. mostly fish Pie....only full of a lot of different fish and whistle fish. my son had the steak and ale pier he claimed he was the best he had eaten in a very long time. two of us had the nut roast dinner.... I want my Christmas dinner to be as good as that. desserts of fruit crumbs and custard finished the meal with the obligatory glass or two of fizz. for each device in these times to offer this incredible selection of oriented, which is an absolute credit for them by the most kind of employees ever and the very high standards they did. highly recommended at any level possible. well made the colesbourne inn"
