The Royal Oak Braithwaite

The food at this pub is average and comes at typical Lake District prices. It's hard to understand why they would charge £7.50 for a bowl of soup. It's no surprise that the hospitality industry is struggling to attract customers.

Lovely stay at the royal Oak. Really impressed with the room spotless, comfy bed great bathroom. Meal delicious (would recommend steak pie) great service from Jenny and all the staff 5 mins from Keswick would definitely recommend! Make sure you visit if you are in the area

Lovely place and staff. The food was awful. Chips were like warm and dry on both meals, husbands fish looked lovely and a good size too but my hunters chicken was horrible, it was a grey colour and flat, it had a strange smell to it too so I didn't eat any of the meal unfortunately. Ver carta

Formerly a great pub, it is now owned by Marston's and unfortunately, it has become disappointingly lackluster. The service is slow and unfriendly, and the food, although decent, is clearly not freshly made on site. The establishment seems to rely on the constant flow of tourists to the village, so they do not put much effort into satisfying their customers.

Thank you to the lovely waiter Dudley! Very friendly, warming and helpful. He popped the heating on to warm us both up. Only criticism would be poor selection of cask ales at the time of our visit (it was a Monday at beginning of March). However they did start a new cask on request. The crumble was 10/10!! This was our 2nd visit and we will be coming again x

Used this wonderful pub as my local for my stay in Braithwaite and it was thoroughly delightful. Wonderful staff, very friendly customers, excellent range of beers and superb music creating a great atmosphere (although not too loud so you couldn't have a conversation! . I ate there with friends on the Tuesday night as well and was impressed with the food. Thanks to everyone at the Royal Oak I hope to be back at some point! Ver carta

We went to this restaurant for dinner. We wanted to sit outside, but all the tables were taken. We decided to try sitting inside and were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. It seems like the place has been recently renovated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the lamb Henry, a vegetarian lasagne, and a sticky toffee pudding. All of the dishes were excellent. We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be returning.

Lovely village pub. Enjoyed a very nice evening meal. The staff are exceptionally friendly, nothing is too much trouble. In particular Becky, Billy, Dudley and Leon. Our food arrived quickly, hubby had fish and chips, the fish was huge, fresh and cooked perfectly. I had the Mediterranean lasagne, which had a generous portion of garlic bread and was piping hot. We then both enjoyed our deserts. All in all a great meal and good value for money. Would definitely recommend.

We had a great experience at the restaurant. The food was good, and the staff were very friendly, professional, and hardworking. The atmosphere was nice as well. Despite a large group of over 40 people arriving just before us, causing some items on the menu to be limited, the staff remained calm, smiled, and were incredibly helpful. It was refreshing to see the management responding to unreasonable reviews and defending their staff. We thank everyone at the Royal Oak for their hard work in making our evening enjoyable.
