Fairly local for us and kinda cool to sit on the Downs near the finishing line and have a pint, then go inside (on a cool evening) for a decent meal. Always found the waiters very good indeed and the meals are tasty/sensible/varied. Don't normally have a starter or pud and only drink Guinness, so no other comments. Parking is fine so on a balmy evening a good option. Ver carta

Our table ordered a variety of dishes, including a rustic homemade moussaka, a lovely prawn linguini (a special for the day), a rich beef bourguignon, and classic English bangers and mash. I made sure to sample everything, and I must say, the prawn linguini and beef bourguignon were my favorites. The moussaka was also quite enjoyable, while the sausages were—well, just sausages. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience!

This restaurant may not boast the most cutting edge decor but it is clean, comfortable, smart and perfect for lunch with wonderful views over Epsom Downs. In my experience, the parking is ample. The menu caters for a variety of tastes (meat, fish, veggie, vegan) and prices are more than fair. Best of all, the service is friendly and efficient and the food has been excellent every time we've visited recently. The Rubbing House is now certainly our favourite local lunch venue.

This restaurant features a beautiful outdoor and indoor seating area and has excellent waitstaff, but unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The management is rude and pretentious, with two older men who seem to look down on their patrons. The food is disappointing given the prices, with portions that are average, reminiscent of frozen meals from Iceland. However, the gourmet burger was of high quality and stood out as the only dish on my table that met my expectations. Ver carta

We have dined here on two occasions for Saturday lunch. I am vegetarian and I have so far tried the vegetarian burger which was so generous in portion with 2 burgers in the bun and really tasty. On another occasion I had the Vegetable Mauritian curry which tasted so authentic with a great balance of spices and chilli. The vegan Chocolate and Clementine Tort is absolutely delicious, I am not vegan but would 100% recommend this to all palates. The staff are great, so friendly and quick with the service. We will be dining here often, that's for sure!

I went for lunch today and was greeted by unfriendly staff who seemed annoyed that we hadn't made a reservation. After I went into the bar to register my car for parking, I came back out to find my friend seated outside, only to be told that we could only have the table for 1.5 hours, despite the large outdoor area being mostly empty. Feeling rushed and not wanting to be timed during our lunch, we decided to leave and find another place. Fortunately, we discovered a very welcoming pub on the other side of the racecourse with friendly, attentive staff, no time constraints, and delicious food!

I rated the atmosphere a 3 because we dined outside rather than inside, but it was still very relaxing. Just a heads up for first-time visitors: you need to announce your arrival and vehicle registration at the reception. I missed the sign at the entrance since it was placed quite high, and the staff didn’t mention it to me or my friend when we arrived early. Unfortunately, I now have to obtain a statement from my bank to prove that my debit card was used for payment at the restaurant, as I received a £100 penalty charge. Despite that issue, I highly recommend this place for an indulgent Sunday roast and exceptional service. I definitely plan to return! Ver carta
