"Another lovely meal with friends (and our dog) last night at the Woodman. Comfy cosy atmosphere on a chilly evening. Food was great as always and the staff are welcoming, friendly and well organised. The chef or chefs behind the scenes really know their trade. The bar always looks inviting and has everything and more than you would expect, including a couple of guest beers which change regularly to offer the opportunity for beer drinkers like myself to try some less familiar but always tasty treats. We will be back . Fantastic place. Fabulous food. Owner super friendly and accomodating. Staff well trained, respectful and friendly. Highly recommend this pub. Best pub food in York area. Lovely garden which is great for a sunny day too."

"We visited this restaurant for lunch today and were seated promptly. The server took our orders quickly. I ordered the Caesar salad and my wife ordered the gluten-free margarita pizza, which looked undercooked and small. My Caesar salad was mainly lettuce and very dry, with tough chicken. Overall, it was not a good experience. My wife dropped her fork and when the server brought replacements, the napkin was already dirty. We will not be returning. I would rate this experience a 1 out of 10, with the only redeeming quality being the Diet Coke."

"Stayed here for a few days for a get-away with my wife, we enjoyed how close the location was to York and how affordable it was for a long weekend-esque break away, £150 for three nights for a couple offer perfect opportunity to experience as much of York as you wish, or explore the surrounding areas. The staff there are lovely people, treating you more like a friend than anything else, very welcoming and free with their smiles. We only had breakfast on one of the days, it was £10 each person, the English breakfast was a good size, came out in good time, with cereal, tea and fruit juices on the side if you wanted them. The rooms had a homely feel to me due to the decor so I may be biased here, but from the one room I saw, it was a great size for two people, little kettle for tea and coffee, a large queensize bed and ensuit, with plenty of storage space this room is perfect for storing your clothes and treasures and having a comfortable night, the only downside is the main road out front which can get noisy in peak times.. however the times you will be sleeping here it is much quieter so it's mostly irrelevant. I slept well and so did my wife. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a cheap, enjoyable stay away, with plenty of experiences to offer"

"I’m disappointed to have to write a poor review of this lovely venue, however, I feel I must share our experience. We were there as a group of six for brunch on Sunday. The venue was relatively empty on this occasion, but service was still...very poor. Everything took an age and getting staffs attention was difficult. After our drinks came, consisting of, amongst others, 3 lattes, all of which were different, and ‘fresh’ orange juice which tasted suspiciously watered down, we ordered our breakfasts. After an age, the breakfasts arrived. 3 of the six were wrong. Missing tomatoes, missing hollandaise sauce, missing sausages. We were left to sort out some of the issues ourselves by swapping food from plate to plate and had to wait for other food to come out. There was no apology from the server who I presume was the manageress? She merely remarked that she had ‘not yet had a coffee’ that morning and came up with a **** and bull story about why the order was wrong. There was also no offer of any sauces or wether or not we required additional drinks we had to request these ourselves (lipstick still present on one of the tea mugs). There was also no come back to check if everything was ok with the meals. As for the food itself, the ‘toast’ was horrendously dry (more akin to French toast), the hash brown burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside, and poached egg was served already burst. That said, the bacon and sausage was pleasant, but not worth the price. Getting anyones attention was difficult and there was absolutely no feeling of us being wanted/welcomed there. If you, the owner, is going to ask why we didn’t raise these concerns at the time, you may want to consider that we were there as 3 groups, all of whom hadn’t seen each other in some time, and didn’t want to cloud the pleasant meeting we had with the bad experience of your venue. Also, given the issues with the breakfasts, and amount of time we were there, anyone with an ounce of customer service skill would realise we hadn’t had the best experience and may have tried to rectify it before we left, or at least, apologised for the issues."

"I visited this restaurant for lunch on a weekday and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the place was bustling with satisfied diners. The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. The menu offered a wide variety of choices, catering to all dietary preferences, including numerous vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. We tried the mixed grill and the vegan chili, both of which had generous portions and were incredibly tasty. I especially loved the hand-cut homemade chips!"
