"The last time we visited The Sun, it was run by a friendly couple who provided amazing food in a family-friendly atmosphere. However, since then, the pub has changed management and the experience has drastically declined. The overall vibe now feels neglected, the décor appears even more dated, the garden resembles a parking lot, and the bar gives off an unwelcoming vibe that caters mostly to local male patrons. It's quite disappointing to see such a decline in what used to be a destination worth driving to. Unless you're a regular, it's best to avoid this place now."

Very nice food and exceptional service. I had a pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason I highly recommend going to The Sun.

The restaurant is now under new management and the new team is working hard to improve the place. They have gone back to basics and started fresh. The beer is reasonably priced and the food, while basic, is good. I will definitely return.

Good beer and friendly atmosphere, too early for food as only just reopened after lock-down but optimistic it will be a vast improvement over the previous surly occupants. Hoping it will again become a friendly village pub after a good start. Give it a try!

There appears to have a change of ownership. We were told we were lucky to be there, we disagreed. The staff are poor as well as rude. We ordered sparkling water and some prawns, neither were available. There are several excellent pubs within a few miles, avoid this one.

We had a lovely lunch today April 2021, no Sunday roast due to outside dining but the food was delicious, freshly made: homemade coleslaw, great burger and fresh fish. Family and dog friendly, new seating area, although we chose to sit in a smaller area, in the quiet rural location just the birds tweeting. Not far from Pangborne or even Reading TC..

This place was once beautifully run. It is sadly now a shell of a pub. The beer is OK but it has lost the soul the kitchen provided by Giles and Nina. It offers basic sandwiches and nothing much else to write home about. Such a shame. It had become the hub of the community in so many ways. Sad to see somewhere with so much potential sit in a sorry state.

Since the change of landlord this pub has gone down hill fast. The last occupants really worked hard to build a reputation for good food (great sourdough pizzas as well). The new ones do not seem interested in creating a welcome. The curry night looks quite good but otherwise nothing doing on the food side. No menus on the website says it all. If you like a pint of Good Old Boy you'll be OK here but don't expect lively conversation!

Four of us enjoyed a nice lunch at this restaurant. The portions were generous. One of us tried the unconventional ham, egg, and chips dish with belly pork, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, and chips. It was good, but we couldn't help but wonder why they would change the classic dish of ham, egg, and chips served with thick slices of home-cooked gammon. The service was friendly and the restaurant had a nice, cozy atmosphere in an old pub setting.

"We usually love coming to Cafe Rouge in Henley, always a treat for us and we are always looking forward to it. However the most recent visit was awful and it’s been going downhill over our last coupes of visits. We booked a table for my father in laws birthday. Upon being seated, we were informed that 3 of the main course dishes were unavailable.. pretty much half of the ‘mains’ options. We don’t come to Cafe Rouge for Burgers or salad! We opted for 3 portions of Mussels as had them here before and they’re very good! Mother in law just had pate as there was nothing else she wanted. These were possibly the worst mussels we’ve ever had. You could tell they weren’t fresh (cooked from frozen for sure) and there was barely any sauce in the pot! Usually they are flavourful and abundant in sauce! No check back was performed by the manager on duty..it was a quiet Monday so wasn’t exactly run off his feet. So we couldn’t alert him. Even upon clearing we weren’t ask how our meal was! Just asked if we had finished. We decided to mention they were awful to which the manager told us he would inform the kitchen. When he came back to finish clearing, my partner asked if they were frozen or fresh mussels, to which the manager replied yes, they are frozen. Wasn’t expecting that but you could totally tell! They tasted like cardboard! We had a coffee and a pudding and to be fair to the manager he didn’t charge us for one portion of mussels and the coffees we ordered. The Bill was certainly not worth what we had. Didn’t leave a tip, which we never normally do, but the service was non existent. Manager was more interested in what was on his phone. Won’t be rushing back"
