The Temple - Carta

Dropped in on New Years Eve for an early drink and shorthy after arriving the sounds were cranked up (6 PM) so impossible to have a conversation. On the positive side lots of great choices of drinks at reasonable prices served by a lovely team.

Popped in for some food and found Halisco are currently running the kitchen. Genuinely impressed with the quality of the Mexican street food. Birria beef, chipotle chicken burritos and street corn, all very tasty. Friendly staff and dog-friendly.

The service at this restaurant was poor. We waited a long time for a waitress who couldn't recommend any blonde beers. Additionally, she brought us our drinks without clearing the old ones left by previous customers. Have they heard of Covid-19? We may give the food another chance in the future. Ver carta

Sad to say but had quite a bad experience. I was made an incorrect drink and was told it was my fault even though it was not what I asked for. The manager was extremely rude and to the point we're it's hard to believe she got placed in that role. Would definitely avoid. There are other great bars in the area. The bouncers here were friendly but I assume they are probably an external company.

We had lunch in the temple bar along Western Road in Brighton. At the entrance we noticed the waitress kicking the window-door. And she explained that it was the best way to open it. Despite her Harley Quinn appearance, she was helpful and welcoming. We ordered two corona and two burritos with aubergines ,mushrooms and chickpeas. We enjoyed lunch outdoors (according to covid rules) looking at some passers-by with a purely bizarre style. One of them was a mix between the Penguin (Batman's enemy) and plague doctor ... I went to this restaurant with a few friends for a Sunday roast. The pub had a nice atmosphere and the seating area outside was lovely. The staff were not particularly friendly, but they were pleasant enough. My friends enjoyed their lamb and beef roasts, but I ordered the chicken roast. Unfortunately, the chicken still had feathers on it and was incredibly salty, making it inedible. The texture of the chicken was also chewy and unpleasant. However, the potatoes, yorkshire puddings, and vegetables were delicious. There are definitely better places in Brighton and Hove for a roast, so I probably won't be returning for dinner, but it's a nice spot for a drink. Ver carta

Firstly visited this establishment for a friends birthday a year ago. Was not impressed back then. Recently I decided to give it a second chance. Hopping that things would have improved and also the cuisine style changed to Mexican style. Based on these factors I visited the venue with 2 dear friends of mine. The food was horribly underwhelming and they were out of 70% of the menu, but bare in mind this was early week. No spice, no taste, and they managed to get the order wrong. After a complaint the best they could offer was a refund for 1 item which could be put towards a pint but I would have to pay the rest. The security staff at this restaurant act as though they are protecting some top-secret location, when in reality it is just a regular pub. In particular, there was a woman named Laura who went out of her way to confront me as I was leaving, saying she didn't appreciate my attitude when she checked my ID. I am 22 years old, but I understand that I may look younger, so I have no issue with people thoroughly checking my identification. I apologize if I didn't appear enthusiastic while she inspected it multiple times and whispered to other bouncers that they didn't believe me. The following is an exchange of emails following a recent visit to the Temple Bar “My wife and I popped into your bar on our way home from shopping (something we often do) We ordered two glasses of Rioja (medium). We were both surprised to find the wine was Luke warm. Both were returned to the bar, we spoke to the chap on duty and explained the wine was undrinkable.
