A good lunch in a traditional pub seen in a pretty village

Great pub for a tasty, hearty meal. Atmosphere nice, staff brilliant.

Delicious food, enjoyed the library alcove which allowed a little respite from the half term diners.

We enjoyed an excellent lunch of shared boards and shared dessert. We found the shared boards imaginative and delicious.

Food was lovely, cooked perfectly and descent portions. Fish cooked perfectly. The only criticism would be that the chips were too salty. Staff were attentive. Service was prompt and faultless

We had a very enjoyable lunch with family. Great menu choice for all tastes and food prepared to a very high standard. Our waiter, Kevin, was great and added a touch of humour and some great menu advice.

Excellent homemade cuisine, steak was exceptional as was the sticky banoffee pudding with banana ice cream. Side room lacked a little character but the main bar area had a blazing log fire and looked great.

We arrived on Wednesday at 2:30 after phoning to confirm availability for lunch. We received an extremely curt greeting from a thoroughly disinterested, unfriendly man. We sat down with menus but gave up after ten minutes, having been studiously ignored by four staff members who appeared far more interested in talking amongst themselves. Two other couples were in our restaurant section, one of whom had to get up to ask for his bill.

My parents and family friend went for lunch at Thomas Lord Pub to celebrate my 50th birthday. I cannot praise the staff enough for helping make it the most perfect afternoon for us. The lovely waitress Roxy, and her lovely colleagues, a guy and a lady that usually works the breakfast shift, (I didn't get their names), were just so friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem and they really made us feel special.
