"Went with my family in December 2022 shortly after the new owners had taken over. The service was good, the food was well presented and all three courses were delicious and enjoyed by all. Decided to pay another visit in January 2023 having been told...by a villager there was a new Chef as the previous one had left. The menu was slightly different, the pie was off the menu but a rump steak had been added, plus a few other tweaks had been made. The service was good but the food was disappointing. The daily special of chilli was served in an enamel dish that you would find in a country vet's surgery back in the 1950's. Regrettably it was dry, claggy and had an underlying bitter taste. The other diners' were also disappointed in the presentation and quality of their meals, needless to say there were no clean plates returned to the kitchen. I really hope the new owners succeed as Hambledon residents can easily support a village pub/restaurant such as the Vine but the food offering needs to be worthy of venturing out on a cold and wet January evening. It's not the end of the world, onwards and upwards. Good luck!"

Popped in for lunch for two. We both had sandwiches (choice of breads, fillings etc) which come with fries. Both were excellent. The lady behind the bar was great fun. I will happily pop back again (although sadly I live 90 minutes away).

My friend and I stopped by for lunch and we both ordered sandwiches with different breads and fillings, all of which were fantastic. The bartender was very friendly and made our experience enjoyable. I would love to visit this place again, but unfortunately I live 90 minutes away. Ver carta

This is really nice pub and it would be good to see more people here especially as it is the only pub in the village. We visited today, a Sunday, and not only was the lunch fantastic, but the staff were outstanding in their welcome and service. The wonderful aroma of the log fire wood smoke greeted us as soon as we got out of the car and on a...wet and windy day it had the desired welcoming effect! I had the confit pork belly and honestly, it melted. Others had beef or chicken and they all said how beautifully cooked it was. There is a very sensible choice of 5 main courses, which is spot on for a Sunday lunch; I’m always suspicious of a long menu! We’ll definitely be going back and it could become a regular meeting place for a Sunday lunch with friends.

Today, we visited the restaurant on a Sunday and were very pleased with our experience. The lunch was delicious and the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. As soon as we stepped out of the car, we were greeted by the wonderful aroma of the log fire wood smoke, which was especially inviting on a wet and windy day. I ordered the confit pork belly and it was absolutely amazing – it literally melted in my mouth. Others in my group ordered the beef and chicken dishes and they all raved about how perfectly cooked the meat was. The menu offers a sensible choice of 5 main courses, which is ideal for a Sunday lunch in my opinion. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant and it ma...

"We love PPA and have been coming here as a family for a couple of years, since moving to Winchester. It has been a real shame that lockdown has prevented them from operating as usual it was great to go back tonight for a treat, just the two of us. The front of house greeting and service was superb, and we really felt welcomed. Drinks and food orders were taken quickly, and the waiter returned to check that the order received by the kitchen was correct (far better than risking getting it wrong). Wine was ice cold and served properly. Starters were very nice, although in our gluttony we ordered too much the Thai ribs are melt in the mouth tender meat, and the size of a small steak. Partner's lemongrass fish skewers were likewise lovely. We also ordered the tempura vegetables, which were divinely crispy and tasty and I ate too many...... My main course of coconut/cashew crusted chicken on top of mango salad was lovely, the crunch was great against the sharp fruity salad. Partner had sea bass loved it. Far too full to consider dessert but that was our fault entirely. I have no hesitation in recommending this excellent restaurant the fact that the waiter looked concerned at my not competely cleared plate (which was due to my aforementioned gluttony) and asked if everything had been OK just exemplifies how much the team cares about their customers. There was a kind, understanding smile offered when we pointed out we were completely stuffed, though! Tiny point to conform (I think) with govt regs re: COVID 19 the ceiling fans/air con were on full blast and it was freezing cold. Management sorted it out quickly by turning it down when we pointed out the temperature issue take a cardigan though. A really great restaurant with a really great manager and whole team. Such a pleasure to eat at PPA we will be back."
