"This place is definitely a hidden gem. The exterior gives the impression of an old inn but does not hint at the wonderful atmosphere, food and service you get when you walk in. There is plenty of parking in the pub car park and in an area opposite. This is clearly an old building, but it has been decorated in a sympathetic style so that the history hasn't been lost. The furniture is a mis matched collection of old wooden tables with more modern dining chairs giving a sense of character but with a touch of comfort. (Outside there is a large garden that you can enjoy when the weather is warmer. I have been here many times for lunch, but this was my first evening at the Waggon Horses. I booked for myself and a group of girlfriends for our bi monthly catch up. Upon arriving we received a warm welcome from Hari who made a point of introducing himself and offering drinks once we were seated. I can certainly recommend their white Zinfandel delicious! The menu has something for everyone. Knowing that the portions here are on the generous side we all opted to go for main and dessert. The sausage and mash was comforting and covered in a generous slick of rich gravy; the burger was juicy and well garnished; the fish and chips were beautifully cooked with crisp batter and the chicken kebab with rice was tender and full of flavour. Despite all of us having our fill with the main, we all ordered dessert! The chocolate fondant was just perfect. The sponge was light, the middle was oozing and the ice cream was creamy. Hari and the other staff were attentive during the evening without disturbing us or leaving us waiting for service. They struck a perfect balance. We will definitely come back to the Waggon Horses. We went on a Tuesday evening and every table was booked, so you should plan ahead if you wish to visit! The other customers appeared to be a mix of ages and backgrounds which gave the place a warm buzz. It was great value for money and had a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Great for a get together."

The food was delicious, all well cooked and served nice and hot. Even the side salad was well prepared. Service was with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend all day long.

We held a party here in one of the rooms. All the staff and management we're incredibly helpful and friendly, especially Hari who managed large dinner order. Ideal location for a small party, especially with a Western theme.

We have been here twice now, and will be back again. Food is very good, service is excellent. Went yesterday for Sunday Lunch. Roast dinners were very good. The place was packed when we arrived for our booking at 4pm. Great drink and food menu, with plenty of choice. Characterful Pub, and a great atmosphere. Many thanks.

Food was well below expectation for all meals and very over priced. For the price of the roast I expected so much better. Plates were extremely hot but the food was just warm, vegetables very little taste although yorkshires were good. Booked as an Easter Sunday roast and with advertising and cost I was expecting something much better

Was a great experience with the tasty sunday roast. We had nice staters to start with and had lamb roast which tasted amazing and served with a pleasant smile of hari. All the staff are so friendly and well professional. This is a nice pub with tasty food and friendly staff. They were quite busy when we were arrived and got a warm welcome with refreshing smiles of the staff

I hope they take more care of with their food than they do with customer service. I made a mistake and booked the wrong Waggoner and Horses, including a £30 deposit. I realised my mistake about 12 hours later a full week before the booking. Despite numerous phone calls and emails, not even the courtesy of a reply!! My mistake, lesson learned and if I’m ever that way, there’s one place off my list. I’d bet another £30 that the hard working staff don’t see any of that!! Another “bonus” for the manager/owner. On recommendation we booked The Wagon and Horses Pub for Xmas Lunch. On arrival we were seated at a covered snooker table with inappropriate chairs. Free drinks as part of the Xmas offer were not mentioned. The starters were sloppy and not presented well had prawns in their shells which were impossible to get out because so hard. They then served up the Turkey which was in big slices definitely not off any bird with hard veg and burnt stuffing. When we could bare it no more they brought small round Xmas puds with alcohol over them no cream or custard? The apple crumble was just edible. In all our years of eating out, we 've never been served food so unappealing and quite obviously just thrown together out of cheap supermarket, deep-fried cast-offs, it bordered on insulting. We each tasted one small bite of everything we ordered and opted to go hungry rather than subject ourselves to further misery. We had pre-booked a table for lunch here as we were visiting the area and had read pub 's website stating: We pride ourselves on providing the highest quality of food from a varied and comprehensive menu.
