"I have never left a negative review in my life and I do realize that this is not a Michelin starred Bistro, but dear me, I also think that you can expect some sort of standard when you go out to eat. We went with family on Wake the Giant Weekend . Particularly the best time to visit Warrenpoint and County Down in general. We came to this Hotel recommended by friends. We are from Scotland . It was a two day trip , we stayed at Killeavy Castle . However decided to eat here on Saturday night . But , Unfortunately, the standard at this restaurant was very poor. Where do I start? Having entered the restaurant, we had to wait for several minutes to be greeted, and had to wait 25 mins to be seated for a table we booked a day in advance . It was nearly half an hour over our reservation time , when finally a Blonde Woman managing the diary at the door said that our table is now ready. She greeted us with a fake smile as if she was already pissed off on us coming to the Restaurant. She took us to our table, which was a very small square thing, with not much space for anything, and only about 20 cm away from another table, so actually we might as well join the tables together if we go next time i don 't think so ! . The menu cards ABSOLUTELY disgusting, covered in oil and all sorts of food gravy or residue. We ordered our drinks, and soon enough the 'over enthusiastic ' waitress came back to us saying there will be a 20 min wait on a cocktail would you mind ordering something else instead. The garlic mushrooms I had as my starter, was nothing more than over cooked and almost burnt Tesco 's value garlic mushrooms which cost me nearly a £7.00 ... We ordered our mains and ta dah! six minutes later ?! they arrived. Surprisingly such quick instant service, as if they were sitting at the pass for us to finish our starters . We had fillet steaks which was drenched in OIL, seriosuly, that was almost Steaks in OIL sauce, it was some sort of tepid liquid with an ich layer of oil. When my husband asked for some French Dijon Mustard a surprised waiter pointed out that he was getting drinks for another table so please ask someone else. There was no salt on the table at all and you had to try your hardest to attract someone 's attention to get a bit of salt, which took a while, mu husband had to ask the couple sitting next to us. Honestly, the best bit of food we had there, was the pepper sauce!!!! Honestly, I never complain in a restaurant, because I used to work as a waitress myself, so I know what it’s like sometimes. But Jesus, if you charge people an extortionate amount of money, you must give something back and appreciate the paying customers. The whole thing was a bit like a fast food restaurant focused on quantity of people they serve rather than quality Im afraid. They were more focused on the number of customer they can serve than quality of food . The entire time I was sat inches from the young couple and could hear their entire conversation. I strongly suggest to have less tables there, and give people a bit of privacy when eating and talking and trying to enjoy a meal out. Please focus on quality of food you guys are serving than building up the huge numbers . I will never go there again !!! Don 't be fooled by the photos and publicity. This place is nothing but a hyped up restaurant and the service was very poor. Should have got a takeaway pizza instead ."

The food here is great! Very tasty, no complaints. I would recommend the chicken goujons. The service is also great in here too. It is a lovely restaurant although it can be a bit overpriced.

Best restaurant in Co. Down always superb food and long serving staff members which speaks volumes (I’ve seen the same staff working here for years . My go to for any celebration I have honestly never had a bad meal here and love the stunning decor. Cannot understand the 1 star reviews ignore and make sure you call here for beautiful food and surroundings x

Great atmosphere in this bistro my wife had a great steak but my starter of pea soup was way over salted. Had to drink 2 pints of water when I got home. The main course for me was the Thai red chicken curry. The sauce was good but the chicken was so dry I had to leave most of it. The chicken must have been reheated for it to be so dry. Not great but next time I will give the steak a go. Ver carta

The Whistledown is my go to spot for catch-ups with friends family or a special treat. I’ve never had a bad meal or experience in it in all the years I’ve been going there! From the friendly staff, fabulous decor and extensive menus (not to mention fabulous views over Carlingford Lough, this place is a real gem! Credit where it’s due to all the staff in what are exceptionally tough times in hospitality.

We have just returned from the most incredible family meal in our favourite hotel! I’ve been frequenting this stunning restaurant for over 20 years and every single time I am blown away by the service, menu, views, ambience and incredible staff. Sarah, Colum and their team always go above beyond to make each and every visit a memorable one. The fajitas, Eton mess, burgers, salmon, cocktails and Irish coffees are among our favourites on the menu though everything is delicious! We highly recommend this fabulous spot to all can’t wait for our next visit!

A blonde lady which seems to be the manager made our meal most uncomfortable. Upon arrival with a 5 month old in a pram she requested we try to put her into one of their high chairs as they were short on room, our meal was at 12.30am and there wasn't another 10 people on the restaurant. We agreed and all was fine for 10-15 minutes until the baby began to get uncomfortable and unsettled. The lady had taken the pram down a small set of steps beside the kitchen. My partner suggested the babu would settle in the pram so I fetched it. At this stage a couple and 2 young kids sat in the window seat next to us. The people who are running this place need to uplift their service standards or higher better more experienced staff than just kids. I visited the Hotel during the Mourne Festival . It’s our first time . Me and My partner had a Bar Meal as they had no spaces in the restaurant because of being fully booked. That made me think oh wow , good must be great. The elderly blonde lady who told the poor young girl and shouted at her that she doesn’t have any tables upstairs was quiet cut throat to be honest . This used to be my favourite restaurant in Warrenpoint. However , my last few visits have disappointed me so much . They are charging very high prices , which have gone up way more than necessary and portions are the same or even smaller than before. The bar service was dire on Saturday Night . In the Finns Restaurant We had to try and get the attention of staff to even get drink and we were not in a rush as were there for over 3 hours so this is very poor. We even placed are empty glasses on the side of the table to get someone’s attention that we needed more drinks .
