"Forgive me if I’m wrong but it felt like it was a family ran restaurant. Short walk down from the cottage we were staying in, first impressions from outside and walking in was it was fairly small and meh. That quickly changed, the gent working the front of house was great, there were toys for the little one to play with to keep him preoccupied. We actually booked this the day before and I’m really glad we did as it was full which is usually a good sign. It was, the food was delicious and plentiful, just good old, hearty grub and fairly priced too. Would definitely return if we are down those parts again!"

A very warm welcome awaited us when we stepped through the door of The White Heron. This attentive and friendly service continued throughout the evening. The menu was varied and very reasonably priced. Everyone’s food was cooked beautifully and extremely tasty. So glad we found this place and we will definitely return when we’re back in Cornwall.

We arrived and was greeted by a very enthusiastic and friendly waiter, who clearly loved his job. We ordered starters, main and dessert since the food was so good, everything was cooked to perfection. The place itself is not much to look at from the outside but has some of the best food I have ever the tasted at a restaurant on the inside. In addition, the service was excellent. Amazing, simply amazing. Ver carta

We 've been to this restaurant four times on our Cornwall breaks. I can 't understand any negative, or even semi negative reviews I can only assume those posters have their own 'agendas '. The service, quality AND quantity of food is everything you 'd expect from a family run business with their own reputations on the line. The menu prices are very reasonable hop over to Padstow for comparison ???? See you next time............

"We booked a table for 2 for 6 p.m. When we arrived,we went to the bar and told the person who we were and he then asked if we wanted drinks before he picked up the menus and asked us to follow him to our table. We were told that he or a colleague would come and take our order shortly. Once our order had been taken. We only had a short wait. When the food arrived. We were impressed! We had gone for the set menu of starter, main meal and dessert. The starter was a good sized portion as was the main and dessert. The food was very tasty. The pub has a narrow walkway up to the dining area. It 's just wide enough for one person. Once you are in the dining area there is about 8 tables. There was an additional seating area beyond the first dining area and there was a small beer garden. The staff were all very nice and polite. They all seemed very busy and very happy to help. There wasn 't a huge wait between being served our food and the plates being cleared. Everything seemed to work really well and the tables were cleared quickly for the next customers. There wasn 't a lot of space in the bar area but it was enough for the people wanting to stand and drink at the bar. There are toilets. There is a sign in the first dining room which points to where they are. As nobody in our party used them. I just know there are toilets in the Inn. We were staying at the local Premier Inn and because they couldn 't book us in to their restaurant due to a lack of staff. We booked a meal at the Ship Inn. We certainly were glad we did. It certainly was Premier Inn 's loss The directions said that it would take about 10 minutes to walk from the hotel and it was exactly that! The Ship inn is a great eaterie and the staff definitely deserve recognition. A great evening."
