"Visited here on 02 November 23 with my mum, sister, son, daughter in law and granddaughter. We were greeted by Jack who was really friendly. I have to follow a gluten free diet and was spoilt for choice. There were plenty of options for me from a sandwich to a 3 course meal and 3 choices of gf beer! For a small town, I was extremely impressed and wasn’t disappointed with my choices. As well as the main menu’s there was a also a specials board with options for me too. Every one of us thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered and the portions were plentiful and well presented. My son said his steak was cooked to perfection. All the staff were friendly and there wasn’t anything any of us could fault. I noticed there was also a vegan menu so everyone’s dietary requirements are catered for. I will definitely return when I’m next visiting Clun and would highly recommend this lovely inn to everybody!"

Called in today for lunch......it was lovely! We both had pasta with chicken in a very cheesy sauce, together with a beautifully presented salad......we shall be back!

Nice pub, good service. Traditional style pub that served excellent value homemade food. It is not gastropub it just does classic meals very well. Would definitely recommend the flagon cider!

Warm, friendly welcome, nice food wine), and good service in pleasant, traditional surroundings at a very reasonable price. A proper pub that does food as opposed to being a gastropub/restaurant that serves drinks. We both really liked the place and would recommend.

What great food we enjoyed in the dining area last night of our local pub in Clun, Sunday 27th August’23. Fillet steak cooked to perfection, home made beef suet pudding, steak pie, Thai curry and 2x fish chips. Some really lovely local wine was enjoyed too. Red Kite from Kerry Vale Vineyard which was a very nice red. Thank-you to Hannah Jack Ver carta

The White Horse Inn and Clun village have been one of the highlights of our month in the UK. The hospitality of the pub and village locals made our night here one to remember. John the chef’s Thai Green Curry was senational. The scenery is wonderful, the village is quaint, the pub is comfortable and welcoming and the staff couldn’t do more to help. We are coming back!

Visited as we were back staying in the area and had enjoyed previous visits. Came on two occasions for drinks and staff were very friendly and the pub was fairly busy. On the day we came back for lunch, the staff were friendly and we felt very welcome. We both decided to have steak ale pie. We didn't have to wait long. The pie was tasty, and the chips hit the spot. We would definitely return if we come back to the area again. Well worth a visit!

Stayed in the white horse from Saturday 29th until Tuesday 2nd may . Lovely old pub staff were so helpful. It was clean and comfortable. Staff couldn’t do enough to help you. Breakfast was lovely. Menu on an evening was limited but very nice and plenty of it . We stayed in clun for the green man festival and loved how the staff became so involved. Only negative would be is that I needed a chair to sit in in my room to do my hair ect. We would definitely revisit here and can’t wait to do so. Ver carta

Ordered fish and chips as a take away 22 September. It was superb 5 star. Ordered fish and chips and a vegan burger as a take away 29 September. The fish wasn’t as good as the previous week but ok. The chips, however, were soggy and rubbery and were inedible and so ended up being thrown away. The burger was served in a stale tasting brioche bun which was very chewy and unpleasant. We really like the pub and the beer, so we were really disappointed. I did message the pub about our experience but have received no response.

Not a good experience unfortunately. The food and service is generally excellent and top notch from all,our previous visits. The burger was overdone and the Shepards pie with haggis was bland to,the extreme with no browning .and semi, warm veggies. Our order was, mixed,up with the one other customer in the restaurant which meant a long delay.. We did receive a professional apology.. The only explanation I can think of is that it was a Six Nations rugby Saturday and this may of contributed and the.Chef was having an off day.. If this had been our first visit we would not return.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
