"We visited The Woolpack in October 2021 to try Antonio's Neapolitan pizzas for the first time. They are by far the best pizzas we have ever tasted, and we have been returning every couple of weeks since then. We also frequent the restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and have never been disappointed. The desserts are amazing, and we particularly enjoyed the cannoli we had this evening - it was delicious! The staff at The Woolpack are very friendly and welcoming from the moment we step through the door. The service is excellent and they always go out of their way to make sure we have a great experience. After a busy day, we can relax as soon as we enter the restaurant. Despite reading some negative reviews, we can only assume those individuals visited a different establishment. We absolutely adore The Woolpack and appreciate the effort the staff put in to make our visits enjoyable. Thank you for everything!"

Came sunday afternoon for a drink, we sat out the front. We ordered the beef nachos. Really tasty but expensive for the size and limited meat. Nice atmosphere.

Also lovely coming here, the staff are always really friendly, food is always excellent. Bonus that it's right next to the park so after a walk with the dog is good for a few cheeky drinks!

One of the best ploughman’s lunches I’ve had. Lovely pub friendly staff and a car park bonus for a town pub. We come here regularly and are never disappointed. Always excellent menu choices and the other half loves the choice of beer which is always well kept. Ver carta

This restaurant is a fantastic place to visit. They have a great selection of cask beers that are well-maintained. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. I have dined here multiple times and the food is exceptional, with quick service. This is the best traditional pub in town.

Great for drinks lunch in the sunshine! Friendly and welcoming service every time! Food is very tasty and the wine selection is fab! Zia Marita’s pizza shack is amazing! Lovely setting just minutes away from Christchurch park. Thank you to Rachael, Izzi, Will and Marita for making us feel welcome!

This pub is fantastic. The staff were incredibly welcoming, even to our dog! The chef is creative with the dishes and everything is reasonably priced. Our grandchildren had a blast playing the variety of board games available. We will definitely be coming back and might even try out the Pizza Garden next time. Ver carta

Great location and very good choice of beers and lagers. Ours was a spontaneous visit and we opted for the burgers and fries. This was a mistake. A very basic serving. The sort of thing I would expect at a burger van after a night on the tiles. Definitely not worth the money. Served with big potato chips, it was actually embarrassing and not what I expected having seen other dishes well presented.

Normally my favourite pub but do feel it’s lost it’s way a bit recently, staff are slightly clueless and I ordered a veggie burger and it was so hard especially round the edges and obviously defrosted.. they had no sauce in it the burger bun as well the burger were bone dry!? It was served with wedges which were nicer but no salad and the worst thing is this burger was £15…. I’m so sorry but I cannot justify that price tag you can genuinely get a nicer burger for less than half that price. In fact the prices of the whole menu are willlllddddd

"Checking in to a hotel in an unfamiliar place, it is tempting to book one 's first evening meal in the hotel 's restaurant (unless, of course, one has had chance to research the alternatives beforehand . This may seem a safe option, but is often a mistake, as it was on my visit to Ipswich. Had I only known that a minute 's walk along the quayside would have taken me to Mariners, I should have eaten there twice rather than only once! A floating restaurant can often prove to be a bit of a gimmick, but Mariners seemed to get good reviews so, on night two, I gave it a try. A beautifully restored and maintained Dutch customs gunboat from 1900, with gleaming brass and polished woodwork, the restaurant offers a limited, but well-constructed, menu to satisfy most tastes. Being aboard a boat, I opted for seafood, and was not disappointed. There being an R in the month , mussels were a good choice for my starter, followed by a seafood skewer , presented with just enough theatre to be amusing but not over the top. Not fine dining , perhaps, but well-prepared, nicely presented and very satisfying dishes at reasonable prices. A limited wine list, perhaps a bit on the pricey side, but the Picpoul de Pinet proved to be an excellent accompaniment without over-stressing the credit card. Service struck just the right balance between politeness and friendliness. My fellow diners embraced the whole age spectrum (I was by far the oldest! weighted perhaps towards the younger end, the common factor being that everyone (myself included was clearly enjoying themself. There are many other dining venues along the Ipswich quayside that my brief visit did not allow me to try, but Mariners can be recommended as a safe and enjoyable bet."
