"Four of us had an evening meal here recently, I would rate the four meals as 4 star, 3 star, 2 star and 1 star. Various things were not available, some of which we were told of prior to ordering, which is fine, but some we were not. One of us was also given the wrong vegetable with the meal. My meal luckily was the four star meal , well cooked and generous portion. The one star meal was poor, no presentation and slopped into the middle of what was quite similar to a soup dish. The portion size and meal was similar to a Morrison’s £2 ping meal, and was no better. My 83 old mum could have eaten it all and still had room for a sandwich for supper when she got home. I’ve been here in the past, not very recently, but not so long ago, with a group of mates and we all had good food, puds drinks and a grand time was had by all, in fact we left quite late we were having such a good time. But on this occasion it was very disappointing."

Just visited here, for couple of pints, cost me £10, legalised extortion! Never again. Want to know the reason pubs are going out of business, this is it.

I had read a Newspaper Article about the Three Horseshoes selling Award Winning Burgers made by a Local Farmer. Sounded good, so had to be worth a visit. The Burger came in a Bun with Cheese, Plenty of Bacon, Homemade Chips and Garden Peas for less than £10-00. The Burger met every expectation. A Glass of Marstons Pedigree to accompany was equally satisfying. A very pleasant lunch indeed.

This place has always been a good choice if you want home cooked food at a price that's reasonable. Its a lovely old pub. In fact I think my parents used to visit this place when they dated some moons ago! Anyway, I fancied a cheese and onion sandwich, chips and a pint of shandy... wow not disappointed. Home made and I mean home made chips! Lovey sandwich with salad and crisps. Absolutely delight. So good I went back the same week and ordered the lasagna! Dont drive past this place. Its lovely and has nailed it for the pub scene with good nice Pedigree and lovely food.. Warm welcome too!

"we enjoyed another very pleasant dinner at the Dog’ in pentrich recently. it is a very civilized but relaxed escaping area, and the type of place where people are miles for, for the culinary experience traveling and with good ground. eating is good. the dining room is spacious, contemporary and beautifully furnished with a relaxed ambiente. also the adjacent bar area is very cozy and cozy. we were warmly welcomed and immediately shown on our table. the service was attentive and pleasant, without being overlaid or intrusive. our meals were very pleasant and we enjoyed the selection of things we had (start, head and dessert). However, it seemed to be some unconsistencies with a portion size. with the appetizers the leek and the potato portion was very small a piece laek about two centimeters long filled with cheese and in a sea of sauce to convey the grasp of “more”. the crispy szechuan cauliflower and aubergine, on the other hand, contained large parts of the two components of the teller. similar to the net, the green thai chicken contained three very large portions of huh in different shapes: a large chicken breast as the main component of the Thai chicken shell, accompanied by a huge serving of shredded chicken in rice, and a huge Bao beer filled with a large piece of baked chicken. while the various components were delicious, it was just chicken overload, almost like three main dishes as one, and much too much. the same applies to the puddings we have chosen. the dog inn trifle was a huge bowl with lemon-rossel sponge, with white chocolate-creuzard, and celestial gel and sorbet. the yorkshire rhubarb cheesecake, on the other hand, was a very small roll of cheesecake with a puppy game of rhubarb sorbet and a few pieces of poached rhubarb. our meals were certainly delicious, and we enjoyed them. the hanger steak was cooked nicely after a discussion about it; it was clearly stated on the menu that the hanger steak was ‘Served ‘Pink or well Done’, but we were informed that it could not be ordered well. which condition is then on the menu? the dog is worth looking. it is in the beautiful and historical village pentrich, on the b1016 between the towns ripley and alfreton in derbyshire. we're coming back."
