"Booked a table for dinner while staying at the local caravan site. The menu looked nice and reviews were decent. We were shown to our table and given menus and asked what drinks we would like then waited and waited for the drinks to arrive....At last the drinks arrived and we were ready to give our food order but the waitress just left the drinks and off she went. I do understand there is a shortage of catering staff and the girls all seemed very young so maybe this is a training issue, however the restaurant was very quiet. Eventually she came back to take our order and it arrived after a reasonable time. I ordered a starter of pan fried King prawns in chilli and garlic white wine butter, what a disappointment- the prawns were just warm and there was no garlic flavour at all. The chilli white wine butter just tasted overpoweringly of hot vinegar. I had the special of lamb cutlets which was quite tasty but the fat on the lamb had not been rendered and was unpleasant. We didn't bother with deserts."

We had a fantastic family meal at this restaurant. The meals for both adults and children were delicious. The service was excellent – the staff even sang and brought our daughter to see the birthday cakes. I highly recommend this restaurant for a wonderfully prepared meal.

The restaurant now offers a takeaway service with online booking. The food is of fantastic quality, with freshly cooked burgers, pizzas, and fish and chips. This is a great addition to their already successful and more upscale dinner menu. I am looking forward to the next time I visit. Ver carta

tigh na mara hotel restaurant was absolutely fantastic at the two places we went, sat th. april (what Valentines menu, they were fully booked, but pressed us into) the meals were great so that we booked to come back to the valentinstag). I would very much appreciate this restaurant, the staff was all very friendly and welcomed us at both locations. we have booked a week holiday in the april and will visit a few times more.

My husband and I went to the restaurant last night for a pre-Christmas meal. We liked our food, starting with a delicious soup and then having the roast turkey dinner as our main course. The dinner could have used more vegetables, as it was a bit light on them - I only had a few small Brussels sprouts, carrots, and another vegetable. After our main dishes were cleared, we had to wait quite a while for the dessert menu, which I had to request. It was our first time dining at the restaurant, which had been highly recommended to us. We found it to be a bit pricey, but we would consider returning for a special occasion, just not on a regular basis.

My husband sister and two traumatised rescued dachshund that need socialising. Wow what a night. The restaurant was very busy and we were in public bar. There were several other customers who were so willing to help us with the dogs as it has to...be slowly and quietly. Thank you you so much, especially to the chap that was barked at Now to our supper, oh my word what a fantastic meal, thank you. I savoured every mouthful. I had chicken in sweet honey chilli sauce, it truly was melt in the mouth. Diane had cheese veggie pancakes full of vegetables and my husband had fresh battered fish and chips. perfect and portions generous, please don’t change anything your chef is awesome. In all food ou... Ver carta

When we were stopping in the area, and booked to eat at the Tigh Na Mara restaurant. It doesn't look very big from the road, but once in it opens out into a large restaurant. There was also plenty of seating and tables outside too....The menu had a really great choice, i had the stone bass and my husband had the saltibocco. Both were delicious. Plenty to eat with sides of vegetables or salad. Yummy desserts , and coffee all exceptional.. it was a Monday evening but still a good atmosphere. The staff were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed it so much , we booked to return the next evening, so we could try some of the other delights on the varied menu. Well worth a visit and another time we woul...

We popped in here when stopping in the area with family. It’s one of only a handful of places around here that appears to do a decent meal so thought we would try it. We initially wanted to sit outside but there is a wasp...issue meaning we were moved indoors, just as we were making that decision our dog was stung by a wasp it’s that bad there. Once moved inside we ordered and despite being lunch and all ordering reasonably basic meals the food took minutes to come. No one checked if we wanted more drinks or gave us updates during this time. The food when it did come was as ordered and quite tasty, it seemed to be well prepared and fresh. The staff did seem very rushed off their feet for a q...

"Visiting Port Patrick again today we thought we would try a new place to eat. We normally eat at the same place here but today with chose the Crown Hotel. When you walk into the crown you see how old it is and I must admit it looks quant but a little dated. After finding a seat and deciding what to eat I went to the bar to order food and drinks. The service from the member of staff were pleasant and welcoming. We ordered 2 cokes and 2 stake and ale in a pudding one with chips and one with baby potatoes. We were charged a few pence short of £39 and given 2 cans of coke and asked would we like a glass with them? £4.80 for 2 cans of coke) Going back to the table I sat down and within less than 5 minutes our food was there on our table. I always worry when the food is so quick as I never feel it properly prepared fresh for you and when you are paying £17 a meal you at least want something fresh-ish. WHAT REALLY ANNOYED ME was while we were eating our food people were bringing dogs into the bar past our table to talk to a guy sat next to us. Chatting away these dogs were just sat by our feet as we ate. No one seemed to care about these dogs brushing up against people eating a meal. The food The baby potatoes were ok, the pudding was a frozen one you would get from a supermarket, the veg was hard, the meat was dry and bland and the gravy tasteless. I would say this food was a preprepared meal and just placed into a microwave. I don’t like to be so blunt in my reviews as this is always someone’s business and livelihood was are talking about, but this really was that bad. The service during the meal was none existent. When the waitress came to take our plates she did not seem surprised when I complained about our food, saying only I’ll pass it on. No apologies or anything. Even with me saying the food was especially the veg was disgusting. It was like water off a ducks back. Will I eat here again NO sadly the service and the food was very poor."

"For some reason I can not reply to your answer. Sadly you are absolutely wrong in everything you have stated, I find your tactic of attacking people who give less than 5 star reviews. I am not going to try to defend myself, as I stand by everything I said. I have made an appointment to see a solicitor about your untruthful comments. I would really of liked to put a good review up, however, I would not recommend this hovel to my worst enemy. Firstly the room was so small, and tatty, extremely dated with an alarm clock, which surely has been taken from a chalet from Pontins in the 1970s, that even the amazing view could not compensate. There was dog meat/food on the carpet, and I assume ash. When I went to look for someone to let them know, there was no one about. The bathroom was not fit for purpose, one as it was a converted cupboard, and the notice in the room explaining that the steam from the shower which was cracked set off the sensitive smoke alarm, so you could not even have a shower. Then when we went for breakfast, after waiting for 40 minutes for a breakfast which was a 1 sausage, a piece of streaky bacon, uncooked tomatoes and mushrooms, haggis, b pudding and beans. When I went to complain about this on the way out, I had the pleasure of speaking to someone called Donna, who was at best obnoxious, and as unhelpful as it was someone else 's fault, I quote I don 't clean the rooms, I don 't cook the breakfast . I would rather sleep in a tent than give money to this place, please look elsewhere, unless you want to feel as though you are being ripped off. In response to your reply I thankyou for it. I do not deny that I was irate, and if she cried, I feel terrible about that but I have also left things out, like the denial of the previous evenings attempt with the same lady about the state of the room, however I stand by everything I said, As you are true to form, as it never ever seems to be your fault, if you look at the previous low reviews, it is always someone else 's fault. Oh by the way breakfast took 40 minutes, and as you were not there, maybe you can check CCTV and see that the uncooked food was left, as was the haggis, however the toast provided was superb. I applaud your defense of your staff, I truly do. Hopefully you can maybe if you get another less than favourable review, see that it is the same points over and over again, and try to address them points, just a thought. Thanks again for your reply below, and I stand by everything I said, and truly can 't be bothered dissecting your reply, one slight point, I have witnesses about the night before, so I take with a pinch of salt, your comments"

"Myself and my partner where just outside of portpatrick yesterday and wondered about somewhere to have lunch, it was about 12.30pm on a scorching hot Bank holiday Sunday. We hadn’t actually planned to go there to start with but thought why not. I saw on Facebook Connors Restaurant had just uploaded a Facebook post about stopping there for a choice of 2 lovely menus and a cheeky gin, sounded perfect! The post had went up about 15 mins before we arrived, so I assumed they must be looking to take some tables. I walked down and there where 2 tables taken outside, and 1 table inside. I asked if I could get a table for 2 outside if possible and I was told no they had been reserved and I thought okay but before I could even open my mouth again she said all tables inside where also reserved that they where fully booked. There was 1 table inside, other wise it was pretty empty. Ok no problem, we found somewhere else so no big deal, after about 2 hours spent having food and wondering around we went back to the car (parked just up from Connors restaurant) and I noticed again there was only the 1 table outside, and no one at the others. I’m maybe wrong but I felt like this was odd, the inside didn’t look like it was “fully booked” either. It actually looked a little dead compared to everywhere else. This has also happened to my friends a couple of times too they’ve went in and the place has been stone dead but got turned away because of the excuse of being fully booked. Just felt like it was not quite right. Sorry I never usually write reviews but felt like I had to get my point across on this one. We would love to dine here and hopefully will in the future."
