Uncle Lim's Kitchen

a simple Malaysian restaurant that serves very tasty and mouthful dishes. leads the nuds and sets dishes. all wear the typical Malaysian taste. it was great.

I'd heard a lot of good things about Uncle Lim's chicken rice. Sold only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, people have trekked from far and wide for it. It was only a matter of time before I hauled my lazy ass down to East Croydon for a taste.

I'm definitely going to return to Uncle Lim's one day, to try their famed Char Kway Teow, (stir-fried, flat and broad rice noodles) and the mixed rice/noodle dishes. It is a good fix for a hometown-food-craving, with great value and a decent variety.

Uncle Lim's Hainan Chicken Rice I was introduced to Hainan's Chicken Rice by a friend of mine; I never tasted anything quite like it. The aromatic scent of the stock sauce and silky soft chicken meat that melts instantly in your mouth. It was memorable experience!

it took an hour to prepare 2 dishes, quality was bad definitiw not a tomyum, which I received. it was in the round a “gulai” court. all the wrong condiments also in the tomyum. felt like the order was made casual and delivered without even anyone really checking what was cooked. really dissatisfied!

Uncle Lim's Malaysian Kitchen is reputed to serve the best chicken rice in London, or rather in Greater London, as it is actually located in the Whitgift Centre in Croydon. It had thus been on my to-try list for quite a while now, and I eventually managed to make my way down there late one Saturday afternoon.

my first bowl of laksa was at katong laksa, I've always been addicted, although it can sometimes be too sharp to be tolerated. if laksa is on the menu, it must be ordered. Since then I compile a Singamalay series on my blog, but after a few, they get to know what is a good one of the presentation and taste. that was disastrous. I was attracted by the aroma, I love Malaysian food and paid for the great meal deal. the chicken curry seemed to let oil swim on the sauce, and I saw the woman spooning on my rice. I ordered the Rendang-Rind as my second meat choice and then asked for a coffee. I got a cup with a spoon of instant nescafé in it. my first mouth full of rice showed that the Malaysian cure had none of the rich and delicious flavors that they received in a Malaysian restaurant; at both ends of the scale. the chicken was brewed and limp and practically tasteless. the bark rendang was worse. With the second largest ethnic population in Malaysia being Chinese, I found my way to a few Chinese Malaysian restaurants as well. Malaysia Kopitiam I ate at Kopitiam very soon after I first arrived in London as it was the only place that I knew that made pan mee' 板面. I wasn't too impressed but I absolutely loved the sambal carrot cake. The extra touch of sambal gave it that more-ish kick! I came back another time when a friend of mine, Ms Chocoholic wanted to eat there and I ordered something else that I've never tried before which is the Hokkien Noodles.
