"So glad to have discovered this little gem of a place. A no frills cosy venue. Yesterday 3 of us had lunch here. We opted for the afternoon tea, which was amazing!!! A 3 tier stand arrived first of all with very fresh well filled sandwiches arranged with lots of equally fresh salad in between. And large bowl of plain crisps on the side. Then once we'd devoured that another stand came along with very large scones at the bottom... Which tasted like they had literally just been baked for us, with butter/clotted cream jam in ramakins at the top. The middle layer had an assortment of cakes (3 options) that we'd chosen from a good selection nearby. This was £19.75pp which considering how beautifully presented super fresh it was I think it was good value for money. I think we could have had endless tea or coffee included but we just had one each. Nonetheless I still think it was good value for what we had. There is also an excellent deli section, a freezer full of delights some good basics available to buy like bread/newspapers/greetings cards along with some luxury items like Silent Pool Gin and chutneys etc. What's not to love?!"

Lovely peaceful little cafe to stop for tea and cake with very nice and friendly service. The hound appreciated they sold a good range of dog treats too!

The service was poor, the portion sizes were quite small, and the prices were extremely high. Furthermore, the owner's daughter was very rude to the staff. It's disappointing because the previous owners were wonderful and kind people.

Rather slow service as it appeared one person taking food orders and serving in the shop. Also we couldn't find a menu to be deciding what we wanted. I would suggest they are placed on the tables already for customers. Lovely pot of tea and sandwiches, will definitely be back Parking: Lots of parking Service: Dine in Meal type: Brunch Price per person: £1–10 Ver carta

Very friendly service, lovely little tearoom and village shop. Will definitely return. Dog friendly too, they brought my friend's dog a bowl of water and a dog biscuit! The people that run it are nice and were happy to chat with us and tell us about the building. Easy to park too. Five stars, a great place for tea and cake. Looking forward to going back there.

A fabulous find. Cosy, traditional, perfect for a rainy Sunday afternoon tea with a visiting friend from London. The service was warm, welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The tea room is in a shop/small supermarket selling a little bit of everything. The afternoon tea for two was plentiful, delicious, freshly made sandwiches, scones and cakes. Proper china teapots and cups. Just wonderful! I cannot wait to go back.

"I visited my elderly Mum today, she suggested going to the Derby Arms for a roast dinner as she'd eaten there recently with my sister. However they were fully booked, so I looked online and found Galu. The reviews were great and my Mum has only ever heard good things from friends and neighbours. So I called and booked for 12:45 Sunday 21st Jan 2024. We were both pleasantly surprised to see roast dinners on the menu ... Mum order lamb and I ordered beef part of their set menu. When the dinners arrived, you could see straight away that the lamb was Very Fatty (not even crispy) when my my tried eating it, it was both tough and chewy! As for the beef, this was cooked ok and edible, although I asked for the beef to be medium, but it was more well done. The waiter came over to ask if the meal was ok, I highlighted how the lamb was... the manager then came over and offered my Mum a slice of beef to compensate, bearing in mind she ordered lamb. Mum subsequently found that some of her roast potatoes were hard inside! I finished my meal, but could see Mum really didn't enjoy hers leaving a substantial amount on her plate, and having tried her lamb it really was inedible! We were then offered a full list of desserts rather than the set menu, having chocolate brownie and creme brûlée (both were gorgeous) When the bill arrived, I was hoping they would have somehow made amends, but alas no ... as Mum doesn't like to cause a fuss and it was her treat, I decided not to say anything, although the staff manager could tell we weren't happy. Having come from East Sussex for the day and regularly have great Sunday roasts in local pubs, I was hoping for something special in this restaurant, but sadly that wasn't the case. In fact it's probably one of the worst roast dinners I've had in a long time. I very much doubt we'll return ..."
