"The highlights of this café include the beautiful view overlooking the Bridgnorth valley and the River Severn. The ambiance is pleasant and the lady who greeted us was friendly. We were seated near a window, which was ideal. My partner and I both ordered flat whites and scones. Unfortunately, our coffee cups arrived with spills on the saucers. Although replacement saucers were provided, there was no real apology and the staff seemed confused. The scones were the disappointing part of the experience. My lemon scone and my partner's plain scone were described as the worst we had ever eaten, resembling congealed sawdust. We did not finish them. The coffees were average. We cannot comment on the quality of other food items. Overall, the location was lovely but was let down by terrible scones and inadequate staff training."

This restaurant is a hidden gem, with one small complaint. The server, while very pleasant, wore baggy tracksuit bottoms, which was not a professional look.

The restaurant offers a fantastic variety of sandwiches and cakes for afternoon tea, with generous portion sizes that are worth the money. The scenic room with a stunning view of Bridgnorth is definitely recommended.

I have visited this restaurant for the second time and once again I enjoyed the delicious food and excellent service. The atmosphere is nice and I especially like the view of the world passing by. The selection of cakes is also impressive.

The restaurant has a beautiful view and a cute interior with a purple and British theme. The service was provided by kind and attentive women. We all enjoyed our breakfast and gave it five out of five stars. The value for money is excellent, making it a fantastic choice.

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has a cozy, 1940s-themed atmosphere with amazing views of the river valley and downtown. The food was delicious with generous portions and cooked to perfection. The restaurant is also welcoming to both dogs and children. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Found this after walking up from the bottom as Bridgnorth Cliff Railway is closed, what a very nice pleasant location and staff just as pleasant sat drinking tea watching the world go bye. We will return next next as this location is miles from our home in Bournemouth but well worth a visit as we travel up for the Shrewsbury Food Festival as an exhibitor.

I decided to visit this restaurant as my 93-year-old mother, who loves the color purple, recommended it. It was a gem of a find, with excellent service, delicious food and drinks, and a lovely ambiance. The view of Bridgnorth was beautiful. Don't miss out on exploring the city and taking a walk along the hill to see the stunning buildings leading down to the bridge.

I recommend booking a table at Violet's Tea Room as it can get busy. The restaurant has two rooms, one of which offers beautiful views over the valley. They offer a nice selection of light lunches, with good quality sandwiches. The service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. However, I was disappointed with the jacket potatoes, as they were overdone and the baked beans were dried out. This affected my overall rating of the establishment.

This is my second visit to this restaurant. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The cake was wonderful and the tea was fantastic, no matter how you like it! They offer a wide variety of other food and drinks if tea and cake are not your thing. The decor is beautiful, with 1940s-style touches and real wood furniture throughout. There is a fantastic view overlooking Bridgnorth at one end of the room, with a warm and cozy atmosphere throughout the rest. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
