You could choose beer between a normal Bitburger and a stone cradle. In the Steinkrug, the beer is cooler and, of course, has something visual. So I took a stone beer to 4 euros. Because it tasted very good, I drank another. Males ordered a wheat at 4.50 euros. As an appetizer we took the Gambas in garlic oil, at 11.50 euros. Frisch renoviertes Restaurant, sehr gemütlich. Geniale Burger und Klasse Flammkuchen. Wer mag, kann draussen essen. Direkt an der Straße gelegen, mehrere Parkplätze vorhanden. Unbedingt vorher anrufen, ist sehr beliebt und schnell ausgebucht.

"The restaurant is not unknown to us. Almost exactly 2 years ago we visited it before. At the time “Jolly da Capo”, with the same owner, namer and chef. But the Eifelans did not accept the restaurant under this name (see also the Rezi of Carsten1972). For lunch we hurried on the country kitchen. However, this has closed on Saturday afternoons. We met the boss and chef Mr Land at the door and asked if there might be a table for us in the evening. That was it. Somehow I felt that our booked hotel did not convince us for a dinner. And so it came that on the way to Gemünden Maar we reserved Mr Land for dinner by phone. We met, as Mr Land suggested, at 8 p.m. From the outside a well-maintained restaurant, but the inner values do not come over here. In the service there were two very nice ladies in rural kitchen shirts this evening. We were warmly welcomed and accompanied to our reserved table. In front of the kitchen. The restaurant is divided into two areas outdoor terrace. Unfortunately, this evening it was too fresh to sit outside. "Als bestes Restaurant in Daun waren meine Erwartungen hoch. Viele Gäste haben hier angeblich das beste Steak ihres Lebens gegessen. Nun, wenn die so waren wie meins, haben sie noch nie gute Steaks gegessen. Ich jedenfalls habe schon Steaks rund um den Erdball gegessen. Aber Geschmack ist bekanntlich auch sehr subjektiv. Die Welle um das Dry Aged Beef und den 800C Grill ist jedenfalls groß. Umso grösser war meine Enttäuschung. Bestellt hatte ich das Rumpsteak medium rare. Gekommen ist medium well. Es wäre sicherlich besser gewesen es gleich zurückgehen zu lassen, da ich in Begleitung war wollte ich aber kein Aufhebens machen. Das arme Stück Fleisch hat nicht einen Tropfen Saft mehr abgegeben. Und die dazu bestellte Cafe de Paris Butter wurde nur in einer homäopatischen Dosis in Form von drei Linien auf dem Teller gegeben, die sehr schnell verbraucht waren. Aber geschmacklich war das Fleisch wenigsten gut. Mit dem richtigen Gargrad und mehr Sauce/Butter hätte es vielleicht etwas werden können. Schade drum. Der Rest meines Essens war ordentlich. Die Bratkartoffeln zugegeben, waren sehr gut. Mein Bekannter hatte einen Burger. Optisch sehr ansprechend. Wie er geschmacklich war vermag ich nicht zu sagen. Der Service war freundlich aber nicht wirklich aufmerksam was wohl auch daran lag, dass wir in einem Nebenraum saßen so dass wir uns teilweise bemerkbar machen mussten. Somit war es ein ziemlich durchwachsener Abend. Ob ich wieder komme weiß ich nicht. Ich werde erstmal schauen ob es in der Gegend tatsächlich auch irgendwo wirklich gute Steaks gibt."
