"Lovely pub! Brilliant venue to hold a party at we hired the back room and had a band and DJs in the main pub area. It was a brilliant night and the staff were so welcoming, hospitable, and helpful. The back room is a lovely space for a function, with nice tables and chairs. Also taken family on a meal out here and the food and welcome was excellent. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: Veggie curry was really good and nicely presented"

We were passing through Machynlleth and decided to stop here for food. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. All of us enjoyed our home cooked meal there, and the portions were massive! "We went into the place thinking that it was going to be amazing as the reviews suggest, however, our experience was terrible. I ordered a tea that wasn’t tasting particularly great, it lacked flavor and I didn’t even finish it, also, I had to ask for another mug because mine was filthy and some lemon or honey for the tea that they couldn’t provide. My partner got a coffee that wasn’t great either. We wanted some food but it wasn’t really a lot of variety, nevertheless, I ordered a sausage sandwich with onion. I had to take it back and ask for a refund as the onion was presented in big chunks and it was raw, I got 2 mini sausages that were slightly undercooked. On the other hand, the staff was really nice and the shop inside was okay."

"My wife and I have just returned from a fantastic week in Tal-y-Bont, made extra special by having such a wonderful restaurant as yBlac for a dinner to look forward to after a day exploring. Everything about yBlac is exceptional, from a friendly and genuine welcome, to fine local beers and quality wines followed by a truly outstanding and varied menu. We didn't get to meet the chef but came as close as possible by dining on the excellent food that he and his staff produces. Wednesday is steak night at yBlac and I can honestly say that the sirloin, which I had twice and my wife once, was an outstanding piece of meat cooked perfectly to our requirements. The starters are interesting too from Welsh rarebit, to grilled Halloumi cheese and a delicious dish of creamy garlic mushrooms with wedges of crunchy toast. A real bonus is that all of this quality comes at a price that doesn't break the bank. Diners are also treated to some beautiful pieces of original Welsh art displayed around the walls of yBlac, and if you are really lucky you may be served by Caroline, one of the local artists herself. We cannot wait to return as soon as possible."
