"Zari is certainly one of the best Indian restaurants within 20 miles of East Grinstead. I've been there a couple of times a year for, probably, 4 years and it is always good and always busy. Don't be put off by the location in a rather mediocre 70s concrete block alongside equally mediocre fast food and grocery shops. Inside it's much better. Suits a group more than a tete a tete for two as it tends to be quite noisy. The atmosphere is enhanced by being able to see into the large and modern kitchen, which is only separated from customers by plate glass. The staff are friendly and attentive, even if some of them are a little hesitant in English. The menu is just about right. All the standard Indian dishes plus a good selection of Zari specials. Apart from samosas, everything I've had has been very good. Unfortunately the samosa are triangular pyramids with quite thick pastry as they are commonly made in Singapore (and parts of India). It's only a matter of taste, but personally I don't think you can beat the flat triangular samosas made with thin and flaky pastry. Conversely I've not had better nans or poppadoms."

A cut above the average Indian restaurant Zari serves delicious food in a lovely setting. Service is good too. I'll definitely be going back.

Service on the night was a bit sketchy and unpolished with staff looking a bit unease. Perhaps first day? Food was very good but still overpriced when comparing what was actually ordered.

Excellent restaurant that we go to regularly. We recently went to one of their masterclass cookery courses and it was truly awesome. Highly recommend. Much more stuff is made from scratch here than in most similar restaurants.

Ordered vegan food. Madras was great. Korma was a bit bland. Stuffed paratha, not very stuffed. What happened to the pakora? We received onion rings, battered cauliflower and aubergine. Staff were very friendly otherwise we would of given 2*

My food tasted very much the same as everyones on the table when we had ordered different things.......The rice portions were very small for the money £3.95 for mushroom rice...... The restaurant was not that busy but it was very loud in there and sometimes it was hard to hear what my friends were saying.........Not sure i would go back again as NOT good value for money

We enjoyed a fantastic meal last night and feel we have found an absolute gem of a restaurant. Great choice of food, much of it locally sourced, lovely wine selection and genuine fantastic service. We really enjoyed every aspect of the meal and look forward to coming back really soon and making this our Indian restaurant of choice. Thank to to all the staff for making it such a lovely evening.

Not the first time I have visited but for my family it was, the Manager was great very proud of his restaurant showed us the kitchen so we could see the standard there! The customer service was very welcoming took my elderly 90 year old Mother there, they held doors for her, helped her with her stick and were generally lovely. A bonus was a free drink when leaving in the lounge area, will definitely visit again

Our first visit to Zari it won’t be the last. Impromptu dinner on Friday evening, we weren’t sure what to expect but walking through the doors we were greeted with friendly faces and from then the experience just got better. The food was delicious and full of flavour. You could see into the kitchen where they were cooking, which we like and there was a lovely buzz about the place. The service was excellent and we couldn’t fault it. So glad we decided to go to Zari’s we will definitely be back
