"We had dinner here last night. We had a short wait for a table outside. Our waiter actually had us stand beside a table he was delivering a check to so that they would hurry up and move along. A bit awkward. Our waiter was busy and very brusque but our wait to order wasn't too bad. A bit of a wait for our food. The food was good, nothing special or memorable but not bad either. My son & I had the grilled sausage, my daughter had the egg roll which was really just vegetables wrapped in an egg roll wrapper & fried. My husband had the potato & veggie cakes. The waiter never stopped by the table again after delivering our food. We waited forever for our dishes to be cleared & even longer for our check. All the tables were nearly empty when our waiter finally brought our check. He presented us with the check, took our card to swipe & had us sign before we had a chance to look the check over. He was definitely rushing us along. The total seemed high & we tried to ask him about it but he ignored us. After he left we realized he charged us 20 euro too much. He clearly tried to scam us. My husband confronted him & he made some excuse about giving us the wrong check and gave us back 20 euro cash. I cannot recommend this place simply because of him. If he was honest, I would have give the restaurant 3 maybe 4 stars Taking advantage of travelers is low. Plenty of honest restaurants I Freiburg."

Sat outside by the canal. It's not far from the main Munsterplatz but not so busy; we got a table without booking but it still looked like a lot of people used the place. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Good meals; I had a lovely Black Forest trout.

the location of the restaurant is beautiful. in summer they can sit on the terrace. Unfortunately, the situation does not say anything about the quality of food. that's not so great anyway. the supposedly homemade items are comfort products. Unfortunately, prices are not appropriate.

Lovely place, with no-nonsense but 100% competent service. Extremely busy but fine if you show up before 6.30 pm, after which it fills up very rapidly. You can sit inside or outside by the water. We went here twice during a one-week stay and loved the traditional German food. Extremely good value for money as well. Highly recommended!

Lovely restaurant in beautiful part of Freiburg -the Insel-in city centre. This restaurant cooks food to order -so be prepared to wait -but it is delicious. Ate there 4 times during a recent stay -highly recommend it. Tables outside to front of restaurant, cosy interior seating and shady courtyard tables to be found if you go through the restaurant and out back. A real gem!

Arrived early with no reservation on a beautiful Saturday evening, sat in their comfortable outdoor rear terrace area. English menu, friendly staff, usual German specialties but the best we had in our 4 nights in Freiburg. Local beer, grilled sausages with sautéed potatoes, spatzle, pork medallions in morel sauce, sauerkraut and mixed salad. Wish we had been able to squeeze in dessert, but we were stuffed.

Stumbled across this restaurant on a Saturday walk - six adults and two kids, so we pulled a couple tables together. Drinks service was quick and efficient, and food was all good. So often these days Flammkuchen seems to come on pre-made crusts, so it was nice to have this one homemade. The Trout Müllerin Art was perfectly done, the Ochsenbrust with Meerretichsauce as well. Three kinds of potatoes and potato salad were passed around the table so everyone could try them. Prices reasonable for location.
