"If the rating of a restaurant were to be based on its authenticity, “Zur Kogge” would deserve five stars. However, on grounds of culinary performance, the result is far less brilliant. This is not one of the many restaurants in town that focus on tourists. Its dark wooden furniture revealed that it has already existed for many decades and become a little shabby. The German songs played at this restaurants and the waiter (perhaps himself the proprietor) fitted into this picture. He was not really friendly, but nonetheless humorous in a certain manner. The menu offered a wide variety of fish dishes and also a few meat dishes, most of which were moderately priced. The regional specialty I chose, a large bowl of eels soup, was unconvincing. It consisted primarily of sour cream and flour, with a few slices of eels. The only discernible condiments were salt and dill. The portion was huge, but this did not compensate for the lack of taste."

We went here a few days ago. Lovely food with an expansive menu, food cooked to perfection. I had a yummy big piece of halibut, and zander on my second trip. Very lively knowledgeable English speaking waitress. The proprietor is a bit odd, don't let this put you off. Nice atmosphere. Try the Hungarian fish stew!

we chose both a mixed fish plate from the grilled section of the (English) menu. both fish fillets and the associated Prawn skewer seemed to have been microwaves. I'm sure you don't have a barbecue. salate very usual. soap and sauces have added the necessary taste. good aroma, but soggy. wein and service very good.

we had luck getting 2 seats because the restaraunt was comfortable full. I am really a fish chip man, but I took a sassnitzer fischerpfanne, my wife had a hiddenseer dorsch. we were both very satisfied with our decisions, delicious. the waiter seemed to drift in and was suddenly there to take our order. service very good, all rounds worth for money! Good: 1) The setting was old but niceBad:1) My eel soup (a culinary specialy of Stralsun) was salty as sea water, soggy and probably cooked in a bowl of butter. simply disgusting...I couldn't finish it and no one wanted to try it because the apparence was very unpleasant.2) the service was slow and the waiter unpleasant3) quite expensive considering the absence of quality

We found the restaurant by accident on our first evening here (15.08.2013) I have had the best soup of my life and my partner a nice smelling and tasting fish plate. The service was entertaining, funny, food VERY GOOD. Since then, we tried different places, but nothing we tried here lived up to the first evening in Zur Kogge. One thing is for sure, for the rest of our holiday (5 more days) we are going to eat there!

after walking around rostock found this courtesy of google maps and was not disappointed. a truly unique restaurant on the boat theme, all wood with hostes from boat-related furniture etc. on two floors sat the upper “deck” with steep wooden stages. as on a ship! eating was mainly fish, and I had pike pitch, which was cooked directly with potatoes and vegetables. this device knows how to cook perfect fish, it was sublime. they were fully booked when I came in, but allowed me a table that was booked for later, perfect restaurant management! it is worth looking for a “fish” experience! I've been visiting the Restaurant more than one time and even in different years. There has been not only once a reason to claim about the service or dishes or something else (ok, to be honest. I ate always the same- something 'Devils Fish with sausage)'. I recommend strongly to give it a try as it is old-fashioned but nice and even with nice waiters. I even guess that old-fashioned is some kind of tradition around there. It takes time for your favorite dish but it says me always that they do it not in the micro wave or somewhere. it's fresh and with experience prepared.....We were satisfied and even the price is quite good for the things you get there. Greetings,

I had high hopes for this place, being told by our hotel that same day reservation on a week day might be a problem. But in the end, I was quite underwhelmed. The menu has lots of fish items (there is no English menu, so you better get your German on) and it is amazing that they have so many different fresh (?) fish dishes available every day. Prices are very reasonable, especially if you pick smaller portions from the 'Senioren Karte' (menu for old people)The setting is also very nice, cozy and authentic. The service was ok / friendly but felt a bit spread thin.As for the food ... everyone else at my table seemed to like their dishes, but my pan-fried fish was dry as heck. Kiddo's chicken nu...

"hidden in the city wall is this rustic restaurant in stralsund. in the entrance area welcome trembling the courageous gast, candlesticks just illuminate such a walk with old wooden beams that leads into the tummy gast house. medieval music accompany one on the way to the table. There, you will receive from a stylishly dressed slender maid and immediately receive a trough with fresh water to wash the hands - because you definitely need it.The card is clear, the prices are very favorable. who asks how to offer so cheap blackshaxen and consorts, receives the answer immediately after the order. because the view into the open kitchen reveals that everything is frozen, which is only warmed up in many times. but: 1. Who tells me that in more expensive restaurants behind closed kitchen doors isn't that? and 2. damned, it still tastes! The whole atmosphere is harmonious, the personal makes with guests and among themselves jokes and one thinks: "It could have happened a few hundred years ago." Eating is then served on a wooden tray - to cut you get an en dolch. the fork is in vain. The freshly washed hands are available for this.As a drink you can even be rich for a fair price a cup met.Everything really recommended for people who appreciate the medieval tafeley and have no pleasure or opportunity to join a large group. This is usually the basic requirement for such food. Here you sit like normal in the restaurant - only that everything is medieval."
