"Visited the Greenhill for News Year Day lunch. Special menu for New Years Day with some bold and exciting choices. The hotel is lovely, in a wonderful setting and is very welcoming from the off. On arrival, ample parking, we were shown to our table and offered drinks from an extensive range. The hotel was tastefully decorated for the festive period and is very welcoming. All of the staff are very professional and additionally very attentive and really lovely, nothing is too much trouble. Our starters arrived promptly and all of our group of 6 thoroughly enjoy the starters. Mains came after a break which was just the right length. Most of our group plumped for the full Roast Beef dinner, whilst i had Lemon Sole in lobster and prawn bisque and another of our group had the pork with apple cider cream sauce which he said was really yummy. It was all served on piping hot plates and came with roasted carrots, parsnips and potatoes, boiled potatoes, cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire puds for the beef. ALL the food was delicious including the vegetables which all had lots of flavour and were cooked perfectly, and there was plenty of them for all of us to have plenty to eat. My Lemon some was perfectly cooked and the sauce had depth of flavour and plenty of prawns. Everyone loved the food and empty plates went back as proof! Desserts were similarly delicious and devoured. One of our group was really full so they kindly put his in a take away container to take home. I had coffee crème brûlée which was strong with coffee and just the right balance of sweet with a home made shortbread biscuit. An excellent meal in a lovely hotel with excellent attentive and friendly staff and all faultlessly delivered. A marvellous New Years Day lunch thanks everyone."

"My family arrived at the Wave, and parked in the car park over the road, and we walked through the small path to the side near the drinks machine, where we were shocked by birds trying to attack us from the canopy up above,,my grandchildren were very frightened, this is where we nearly went home, not just because of the birds, but because of all the bird POO,,it's was disgusting and it looked like it had acumilated over a period of time,,,the drinks machines and windows were covered to we ran to the main doors to find it shattered but still working ,,now I would think these problems to be health and safety issues...Please, please, please Wave staff/manager sort the Poo problem out and smarten your beautiful building up, you have and work in fantastic environment and everyone I talk to says the same.. NOW... My family were very hungry, (that's the reason we didn't go home The carvary was EXCELLENT,,(except for burnt yorkshire puds, lol, truly it was. There was plenty of choice for everyone it was hot and very tasty the little ones liked the fact they could go back for seconds and thirds if they needed to,they didn't, because they were storefed and so was there granda.... ,,,what let the meal down for me was seeing the chef and assistant,, uniforms looked dirty, I know they probably been extremely busy, but please, it made me think what was the kitchen like!!! "Booked here for Sunday lunch as a treat. Not eaten here before. We were greeted and shown to our table, which was in a corner. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy. Our order was taken quite promptly. We had also ordered a couple of drinks, which arrived with the starters. We felt a bit rushed at this stage as we would have liked the drinks before the food. One of the starter plates was removed when empty while the other one was still in use. Normally plates are removed together when empty, so we found this unusual. The main courses arrived after a reasonable wait time. We were however disappointed with them. The Yorkshire puddings were very overdone and difficult to cut and largely inedible. (We mentioned this when the plates were cleared. With hindsight we should probably have sent them back). There was only one slice of meat on the plate together with a lot of roast potatoes. Veg were served in a separate dish and there was a reasonable amount. Desserts were quite nice, although the sticky toffee sauce was thin compared to others we have had. We had to keep asking for water to be refilled, as no-one was checking at the table to see if everything was alright, and it was not easy to attract staff attention as at times there seemed to be a dearth of staff. When we asked for the bill, we had to find someone outside the restaurant to pay it as no-one came back to the table. The price for a 3 course lunch is not unreasonable but for some of the food quality it was overpriced. Overall we were disappointed with our experience and won’t be returning."
