"We went to this restaurant with some expectations. This brasserie is located in the most expensive hotel of Basel. We were welcomed very nicely and brought to a nice table with view on the river. The gentleman who took our order was great as well. So far so good. Aperitif was served after we did order our food. Bit strange. But they let us finish our glass before the first course came. Our young waitress which was clearly French and had apparently no good other language skills, was slow. We are here in the German part of Switzerland. And most customers around us were international guests. Service was very slow. We only heard complaints at neighbour tables as well. We chose cheese as a desert. This was a huge portion, which we both did not finish. The meal quality was fine, but not really special (I know this is a brasserie). To pay 500 CHF for 3 courses , wine and coffee and get this service is a disaster. We never experienced this in any other restaurant in Switzerland. You always pay quite some money for diner here, but we always say that in all restaurants the service is outstanding. I am sorry to say, but this was our first and last visit to this brasserie."

"Normalerweise kommt er rund wieder... Aber hier gibt es 80 cm lange Pizzen, die man klein 15 cm oder große 25 cm bekommt. Was ich persönlich nicht so mag: wenn Pizzen aufgewärmt werden. Hier wird nichts à-la-minute zubereitet sondern es ist fertig da und man sucht sich die Pizza und die Größe aus. Danach kommt die Pizza nochmals in den Ofen. Schade um die frischen Basilikumblätter, die dann verbrennen. Wenn man danach wieder frische Blätter raufmacht wäre es ja o.k. Der hausgemachte Eistee war sehr gut. Dort war aber das frische Basilikum-Blatt drin, das ich mir auf der Pizza gewünscht hätte. Die Dosen mit dem Besteck erinnern sehr an Jamie Oliver. Die Preise sind o.k., wenn man beispielsweise die Pizzen aus dem Migros vergleicht. Aber hier schmecken sie eben sehr frisch. Etwas Unsicherheit besteht beim Namen: VITO for Ladies and Gentlemen erinnert eher an einen Friseur... und Pizza Bros. passt besser, aber man fand den Ausdruck nur auf der Auslage."

"Die Karte ist sehr kurz gehalten, es gibt jeweils ein fleischmenü. Das Essen schmeckt ausgezeichnet, insbesondere der gemischte Salat ist gross und reichhaltig sowie abwechslungsreich! Der hausgemachte Eistee ist ebenfalls zu empfehlen. Alles sehr günstig. Reservieren empfiehlt sich für Aussensitzplätze im Sommer!"

"Kind reminder that if you try to work here, they’ll ask you to put away your laptop. They have set most of the spaces here as ‘laptop free zone’ even the seats where there’s no visible ‘laptop free zone’ sign. Not worth buying a CHF 5.8 coffee here. If you want to make any ‘laptop free zone’, you should always put signs on the tables IN ADVANCE and guide the customers elsewhere with visible signs. Not telling people to put away their laptops AFTER they have already sat down and started enjoying coffee."

"Schöne Gaststube, wunderbares Essen, freundliche Bedienung, toller Koch bzw. Wirt aus der Familie der Metzgerei Jenzer, die in der Regio das beste Fleisch liefert. Bewährte Klassiker wie Cordon bleu neben spezielleren Fleischgerichten mit wunderbarer Sauce. Achtung! die kleinere Portion genügt vollauf.Die Desserts sind ebenfalls köstlich und das gebackene Markbein zur Vorspeise ein spezieller Klassiker. Nicht umbedingt ein Restaurant für vegetarische Mitmenschen. Aber sie haben auch immer etwas Vegetarisches im Sortiment.Der Hauswein ist sehr fein ebenso wie das tschechische Bier war prima.Wir kommen wieder.Ich kann das Restaurant v.a. Fleischliebhabern sehr empfehlen."

"what happened to the cantina toscana? yesterday after a longer break we were back to dinner in the cantina and unfortunately it was a total fall. the risotto was tasteless, watery and boiled. after we made the waiter aware of it he reacted somewhat unwrought but offered instead a mixed salad. the salat that then came was unfortunately even worse: brown edges, white leaves and simply not fresh. we showed the brown salad leaves to the waiter. unfortunately he reacted very unprofessionally and insulted us. after that we were no longer served and after paying (of course, the risotto was calculated on the bill) also not passed. that has fallen from the windows when eating gradually the Christmas lights has been adapted to the descending quality of the food!"

"in the middle of the basel you sit totally chilly in an almost hidden graceful and green courtyard with beer garden feeling, you serve yourself at the theke and enjoys its coffee or cocktail under a big linde. oh also offered to dine, I can't say now, but I guess I'm going out."

"Little gem on the banks of the Rhine. This is Basel! I really like the special atmosphere, relaxed and informal. The food is great, although a bit more expensive. I find the sun deck very practical and since you also have the opportunity to shower, you can spend hours there. Cool location!"

"While eating the deer course of our menu, I bit into something extremely hard. It looked like a very small stone but was too round and the kitchen staff claimed it was a shotgun pellet used to kill the deer. While I almost cracked a tooth and was in pain, our server could barely manage to give an apology (certainly not a sincere one) and we were offered absolutely nothing as a gesture of goodwill in compensation for this. This for the supposed high experience of eating in a one-star restaurant and CHF 500 bill. Incredibly unsympathetic and disappointing. Worse, while not an expert, I find it extremely hard to believe that killing deer with fine birdshot pellets is in any way considered ethical. This surely cannot result in a fast death with minimal suffering to the animal. The restaurant needs to check that their suppliers practice ethical principles or they should be stopped from using them. Switzerland has very high standards for the ethical treatment of animals in different industries and a Michelin starred restaurant must be aware of this and adhere to it. Overall, a decent meal overshadowed by this ugly situation and a very underwhelming, unapologetic response by staff. Disappointed in Basel"

"at this year's art basel, the tibits were represented with a very large catering area. just before we wanted to leave the messailämde, I dared another last attempt to get to a vegan piece of cake. on the rest of the ground, it was, unfortunately, totally forgiven. fortunately, the tibits offered not only a vegan cake but also three different. we had the choice between a brownie, blondie and a passionfruit cheesecake. because the cheesecake was overlooked with an irresistible passions facial glaze, we couldn't change and let the brownies and blondiea lie this time. the cake then also tasted wonderfully for passions fruit, unfortunately, the consistency of the "cheese "filling was not ideal (has already quite better) and the cake was also somewhat watery. the floor disgusting had the ideal consistency and a slightly salty taste, which I felt in combination with the sweet passion fruit as very pleasant."

"Overall, my evening at the Basel Brewery was very pleasant. The staff was extremely polite and accommodating, which made the visit particularly pleasant. The Wiener Schnitzel was good, the French fries were a bit too dry, so one star was deducted from the meal. But in combination with the extremely successful wine from the selection of open wines, the evening could be considered a success. In short, I would like to come back, especially because of the friendly staff and the cozy atmosphere."

"Ich war mit einer grösseren Gruppe da. Beim Apero war es ein wenig ein durcheinander, da ein Teil der Gruppe schon da war andere noch am kommen waren, daher hatten die einen schon ihren Apero andere mussten ihn noch bestellen. Das Timing des servierens des Essens war dann gut, wir mussten nicht lange aufeinander warten, sodass wir ungefähr 5 Minuten gleichzeitig mit dem essen anfingen konnten. Vorspeise war fein Carpaccio Leider hatten Sie diverse Weine Zutaten für meine Pizza nicht vorätig. Für den Wein hat jemand anderes aus der Gruppe geschaut, dieser war dann auch gut. Ich habe mich dann für eine andere Pizza entschieden, welche sehr gut war. Zum Dessert bestellte ich mir ein Heidelbeersorbet mit Grappa super lecker. Bedienung war freundlich."

"I felt really uncomfortable in this restaurant and I still don’t get the positive reviews but what can I say, maybe we are not the cordon bleu types (because that’s the main choice of this restaurant). We visited around 6 in the evening and it was completely empty giving it a strange vibe in addition to the dated decor and cold floors. Service seemed also a bit off, one waitress going around with super messy hair making it feel like a Hell’s Kitchen episode. Bread was almost stale and the salad was what you get from a super market bag. After some 40’ came our cordon bleus which were the greasiest thing I have ever seen. Of course to each it’s own, so if you are into loads of melted cheese (but loads) you might even enjoy. Fries were what you would get in a McDonald’s. Considering we paid some 90CHF it was a rather unpleasant experience… the only positive was that the outdoors space looked nice for sunny days…"

"Went there for the first time last night as my husband was meeting friends there. First the place: right off the bus and streetcar stops, but not much parking close by. Outdoor seating in the summer on the side of the side street, thus calm, with nice large marquees to keep the sun away. Indoor has a nice atmosphere, nothing special, but calm and bright. The service was very prompt and very friendly. I had a mixed salad first. The portion was very small, but it was very good. This accounted for the first almost ten dollars. My main entree was 'fish duo ' with potatoes, about 28 dollars. This portion, too, was very small. Three potatoes with it, but they were, well, you did see them without a magnifying glass, but only just ... and sadly they were underdone and very hard, with basically no taste to them. The waitress brought the sauce that went with my fish about ten minutes after the fish she 'd forgotten, which was her comment when she put it on our table. The two fish filets were tasty and nice. Someone with a very big appetite would still be starving .. My husband had liver and hash browns and said it was very good. It was also more expensive, almost 40 dollars. This being Switzerland, you need to get over your shock of what restaurants charge for common, everyday food we usually go to Germany to eat out for this reason ... so on a Swiss scale it was not excessive. Since the other three diners, my husband and his two friends, said they were happy with their food, maybe give this the benefit of the doubt. For my taste the menu lacks a choice of vegetarian options (not everybody just wants spaghetti) and larger salads chosen as entrees. It 's severely listing to the meat dish side."

"Wir haben das 8 Gang Menu am Abend genossen. Das Servicepersonal ist zuvorkommend, sehr sympathisch und trotz Professionalität humorvoll was uns sehr gefallen hat. Man kann zwischen einem 8 und 12 Gang Menu auswählen auf Wünsche wird aber sehr gut eingegangen (kein Fisch, 9 statt 8 Gänge, Gänge wechseln; alles kein Problem) Das Menu konnte uns leider nur zum Teil überzeugen was aber sicherlich Geschmackssache ist! Alles war sehr schön angerichtet und die meistens Sachen haben uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Bei den Sache die uns nicht gepasst haben, lag es sicher mehr an unserem eigenen Geschmack als an der Qualität oder Zubereitung. Wir haben den Abend sehr genossen würden aber wegen dem Esse nicht wiederkommen. Das Restaurant ist auf jeden Fall ein Besuch wert, hier denke ich muss sich aber jeder sein eigenes Bild mache. Essen ist ja bekanntlich Geschmackssache und Geschmack kann sehr unterschiedlich sein. Das Ambiete im Garten war zauberhaft und wir haben den Sommerabend in vollen Zügen genossen. M&AC"

"The food was delicious!!! I felt like I 'm in a restaurant that it based in India. The food quality is really high so there is no discussion about the price.. They have a indian Tandoor and that 's amazing!!! My kids tried first time indian food in Switzerland and literally now they 're a food lover of ROYAL PALACE BASEL! They make the cheese which is called paneer by themselve, I was so impressed because in other restaurants we can taste that the paneer is like a gum. Mango lassi was my favorite!!! The whole team is so friendly and respectful. I would suggest you all to visit the restaurant Royal Palace Basel!!!"

"I just tried the yufka/dürüm. I am still blown away by its phenomenal meat quality. It is made by only rib-eye Steaks, no minced meat, no chicken scam. Real döner with layers of meat instead of minced garbage. I tried them all in Basel. If you don't give a damn about the quality, you will find alot of döners in Basel. If you look for quality, you must visit this one. I highly recommend taking a Döner-plate or the meat in a kebab bread. I am so conviced by its quality, i order yoghurtsauce on the side. Fairly, i mostly will not use them. Best Quality in Town. And very polite staff members."

"An einem sonnigen Abend um 18.00 Uhr besuchten wir mit grosser Vorfreude das Restaurant rostiger Anker.Obwohl wir eine Tischreservation getätigt hatten, war nur ein kleiner Tisch beim Eingang oder dann ein Tisch ohne Sonnenschirm zur Auswahl. Obwohl wir nachfragten, war es nicht möglich, einen Sonnenschirm zu bekommen, da es ganz leicht windete. Ich bin enttäuscht über diesen Zustand, es gab leider kein Alternativangebot der Gastgeber. Ich kann dieses Restaurant leider nicht weiterempfehlen."

"We went here for the first time and I must say the food was good. The hugo/aperol should be avoided as this is not a drinks place, so stick with standard bottled drinks. We ordered a mezze, two main courses and water, and the two cocktails. Bill was 80chf which is slightly on the higher side for a basic restaurant. The stuffed aubergine was good though the menu 2 was just at par. Would I here again perhaps but the good part was that the food was freshly made. They ran out of humus but compensated with other stuff. so net summary was it was not a highlight but decent food."
