"We needed a quick lunch before heading elsewhere, and Sosban Fach fitted the bill perfectly. The men ordered toasted sandwiches (lots of choices of fillings, breads, etc) and I had a bacon and egg sandwich (good runny egg). The sandwiches came with a small salad accompaniment including homemade coleslaw they make their own coleslaw, salad dressings ... and marmalade. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, and there was a good choice of food on the menu and specials board, plus good looking homemade cakes. I will visit again next time I am in Lampeter."

"Bara Menyn Bakery, located on Chancery Lane near the old bakery and coffee shop, is a hidden gem in Cardigan worth seeking out. Their opening hours are limited to 12-4 on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, but there is always a queue for their amazing freshly made bread, pizza, and croissants. They also offer bags of coffee and local raw butter, both of which are delicious. The staff are always friendly and willing to help you choose from their variety of pizza toppings. Their thick focaccia pizza is glorious but dangerous, and their renowned croissants are heavenly - I particularly enjoyed the raspberry one today. Supporting this family-run enterprise is a great way to experience the best of Cardigan."

"We noticed this cafe had vegan options and although we are omnivores, were having a meat free day. The cafe is conveniently situated on the high street and furnished with upcycled retro furniture. Half of the seating area has tables the rest armchairs. We selected a table seat. The waitress gave us a menu and requested we order at the counter. The menu is bread based with various breads with various fillings. Strangely everything is served with potato crisps and a salad as an option and there are no soup choices at lunchtime. We both selected the plant based meatballs in focaccia. Leaving aside the confusing name they were very tasty albeit rather dry and overcooked. They also came in flatbreads not focaccia which we should have been told but hey the flatbreads were good. There was free tap water on tap a nice touch and we polished things off with a selection from their comprehensive list of teas and tisanes. Covid rules well adhered to and kind friendly service. However the loos were closed due to Covid as they couldn’t achieve the social distancing required which was disappointing."

"Thanks to the courteous helpful lady who made the recommendation, I enjoyed a lovely cheese and ham sandwich, salad and a coffee at Caesers Café.The staff were polite, friendly and attentive, Covid precautions were adhered to, the café was very clean and the prices reasonable.At the time I was only seeking a light lunch, but I did notice the substantial delicious looking fish and chip meal a gentleman was enjoying on a neighbouring table. Some other time maybe...As an aside and in the unlikely event of the first young lady walking on Terrace Road whom I asked if she could recommend a café serving sandwiches and coffees who responded Sorry, I don't have any small change”, ever reading this review, I would like to assure her that I enjoy a good pension after a successful career following several years of Military service, have never begged for money in my life and hope she never needs to."

"Food was very bad quality. Little to no variation. No flavour or diversity in foods. Staff didn’t come to greet you and stayed behind the hatch in the kitchen the whole time except to bring food out (even though it was quiet). "Popped in for just a coffee and ended up having the full cooked breakfast with the best mug of tea EVER. Just how I asked for it. The cooked breakfast was smashing and I'm now very full up. Hubby had the healthier option of porage, orange juice with toast and marmalade. It's a cafe/bar/small venue and shop all in one, really quirky and will most definitely come again. Highly recommend this wee place to anyone visiting Cardigan. It's right down the bottom by the river and on the Right."

"What a gem! We stumbled upon this place on TripAdvisor while exploring a new area. It's a cozy traditional pub with a small local bar and restaurant, and the landlord is very welcoming. The menu may be limited, but it offers a good selection of classic dishes like lasagne, fish, and burgers, so everyone in our group found something they enjoyed. All the meals are made fresh, and they were willing to customize the pizza toppings for my son. The BBQ chicken was particularly tasty and was served with delicious homemade chips and onion rings. The service was top-notch, with the landlord and wait staff being friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back if we're in the area again."

"We only experienced the takeaway outlet at the side of the building and had no idea that there was much more going on. But we was very surprised about what was on offer from this small window. My partner, step-daughter a and I had possibly the most delicious milkshakes we have ever had. But while we were waiting we noticed people coming to the window with what looked like quietly beeping devices that we now know to be bluetooth queuing system devices that let people who were sat at a seated area across the road that their order was ready. Also the array of food and beverages on offer was surprising too. From such an aparently small busines there is a hell of a lot on offer. It wasnt until i read some other reviews that the sup shack is also a hotel. Before discovering this to be a hotel i googled to see if there were other branches of the takeaway around the country and i was saddened to see that there is only this one in New Quay. Shame. I would love there to be a sup shack takeaway chain with one near to our home in derby"

"This is the sort pub every village should have well run with freshly cooked amazing food,I only wish we had it Belfast instead of it being in Wales I would be eating there every night.A pleasant evening on Thursday night Pie and Pint night £10.00 other meal on the menu as well all at the same price,a small menu but a bit for everybody,burgers,fish and chips curry and a bit for veggies ,the wife had the curry she said it was very good the rest of us had fish and chips,The lad is struggling to get staff but he is doing a good job with what little he as,he checks to see you have everyyhing you need.My brother in law told me during he delivered meals out he did amazing job well done sir hope to see you again .You do,nt need any help from Gordon Ramsey."

"Following a recent trip for a yummy lunch, I requested an Afternoon Tea for a hen weekend and it was sensational! The sandwiches, tarts, scones, cheesecakes and all the other extra bits were beautifully made and presented, and washed down with refreshing prosecco coctails. All 13 girls including our vegetarian bride-to-be were very impressed and had full bellies. The sun was shining so the girls even set us up outside in the pretty garden by the river. We highly recommend the Riverside Cafe and will be back on future trips. Thanks again!"

"Decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt and try it again. Last time the fish n chips were truly awful, frozen fish from a supermarket and oven chips. This time we waited an hour for pizzas, they'd actually forgotten us, when they did eventually turn up after twice reminding the staff they were ok. However the waitress managed to drop the chips on the floor and didn't even bother to clear the mess up. We sat there trying to eat our food while being pestered by seagulls scavenging the mess. The tables weren't cleared there was rubbish blowing around, all in all not a great experience, we definitely won't be going back. The management need to sort things out and not leave a bunch of young kids on their own."

"Lovely friendly little pub, popular with locals but also very welcoming to visitors. Good above average very tasty food using locally sourced meat such as Welsh lamb and beef. Highlights for us were the Welsh lamb shank and gorgeous shepherds pie with plenty of nice chunks of local meat and the homemade apple crumble. Pizzas also hand done from scratch with toppings made to order which we didn 't have but heard the impressed comments from the next table! You can order a 'pizza and a pint ' which was very good value. The food is all very good value we thought. There are vegetarian options which also looked good such as mushroom and red pepper stroganoff. Dogs are welcome and they even have a jar of doggy biscuits on the bar. It 's a small but cosy pub with a nice feel to it. It can get busy at weekends as there aren 't a lot of tables as it 's a small village pub, so would strongly suggest booking a table. Reasonable amount of parking space and a nice peaceful garden area which has one 6/8 seater wooden bench on the grass area and another plastic table on the tarmac area. Suggestion for the owners...it would be nice to have another one or two smaller tables or benches as well as the big long one on the grass area. We noticed a separate room off from the main pub which was set up as a children 's play area with toys etc and looked like a nice addition. We were visiting the area and staying here so ate here on several nights as it was so good. Breakfast was also very good. One of the best we 've ever had. Would highly recommend. They are trying really hard with this pub and deserve to do well."

"We stayed fairly near this pub and were told that it was a 'local ' place to eat. It did not look much from the outside, just a traditional pub but the food provided was very good indeed. There was a good choice (considering COVID restrictions in place so numbers limited) of meals. They were fesh ingredients, home made in most cases, very tasty and very good portions. We enjoyed it so much we went back again later in the week and although it was extremely busy ouside (large number of bikers) the staff still gave very good service and the food was still as good, piping hot and tasty. Prices were quite reasonable.The arrangements for COVID that the pub had in place made us feel safe.A very good pub for a meal."

"We happened upon The Grail not knowing what to think. It advertises itself as a savory and sweet cafe. We found a combination of wonderful choices (vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian there are meat options too but these are the ones we eat) all wonderfully prepared. The soup was delicious and served with a freshly baked wholemeal roll served warm. We had a perfectly prepared mackerel salad on rye with greens that my boyfriend ate up quickly. There was hummus too, served with pita bread. It was all excellent! Coffee was great.The people were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend."

"The title is the best thing you can say about this hotel..it is at least there. Every image you see on the site here is false. basically it is on its knees, there is no food (apart from biscuits with the tea). I do feel sorry for them in many ways but all you see is not right. I see one review saying Great Hidden Gem? Well, its still hidden. Think 80's down at heal but in 2021 and you've got it. The bar has a nice young man serving, but it really is a place to walk in and walk out of. For us bikers on a wet night it was ok, but if you'd arrived thinking of a nice quaint hotel, you'd be guttted."

"Great pub with good food, very dog friendly. We had a drink here on our first night, everyone was very helpful and friendly and our dogs were most welcome. We came back the following night and sat out in the garden on a lovely warm summer evening. My wife had two starters instead of a main, cheesy garlic bread and breadcrumbed camembert. Both were excellent and good size portions. I had chilli con carne with chips, a good sized portion and tasty but not chilli hot or even warm. I understand that it is difficult to suit everyone's tolerance to chilli hot foods but there should be some tingle on the lips and tongue. Hence the 4 star and not 5"

"I was very much looking forward to my meal at the Ship Inn, Tresaith. I feel it was overpriced and unfortunately not really that nice. The Katsu chicken starter is ridiculously small. I appreciate it’s a starter but 3 tiny pieces of chicken, a piece of lettuce and some spots of sauce on the plate felt somewhat underwhelming when it arrived. I’m surprised they had the courage to allow it to leave the kitchen. Is there no quality check before items leave the kitchen? For £5 I just felt a bit short changed. Subsequently ordered a steak for my main meal, which at £18.50 is not particularly cheap. Again when it arrived I couldn’t help but feel very disappointed with only a few chips on the plate. On a positive note, the chips were very nice indeed, but sadly there weren’t many of them to enjoy. The meal was therefore immediately disappointing and let down by something which could have been easily remedied. Unfortunately the dish just had no real wow factor. Additionally there were not many peas on the plate. It feels like the chef is trying to be posh and go ‘al a carte’ by giving tiny portions, it just seems like the the identify of the menu/restaurant is quite confused. There was also a thick rind of fat running though the steak. I ordered pepper sauce with my meal and a small amount was drizzled over the steak. I paid for this item and felt like I didn’t really receive it. Would it be that difficult to just serve the sauce separately to allow the customer to dip/pour over their meal as required? Sadly it felt like ration week at the restaurant. I was still very hungry when I finished my meal which is disappointing after spending the best part of £27. Again I just felt quite short changed. I don’t want huge portions and I’m not a big eater or a greedy person, but there simply was not enough food on the plate in my opinion. I felt robbed. The staff are very nice people and clearly work very hard- I overheard a kind gentleman (with a beard and glasses serving another family on a table next to me, I felt a bit sorry for him having to explain several times that many of the items on the menu they had requested were unavailable. The family seemed to be running out of options of what they wanted to order from the menu. It was just all a bit uncomfortable and I wasn’t even sat at that table! Must be quite soul destroying for him having to take the brunt of customer dissatisfaction when many of the problems seem to lie behind the scenes and with management. I’m sure the staff do their very best and it was very busy on a hot day but this shouldn’t affect the quality of food. Something is going very wrong here. I feel a bit more attention to detail is needed which could make it a much better dining experience. If much of the menu is unavailable they shouldn’t really be open. It was sadly quite a disappointing dining experience. I really was hoping it was going to be better than it was. One small disabled toilet with people queuing through the restaurant is not ideal although I appreciate not much can be done about this and it must be quite hard to mange. Seems quite unusual to have only one small disabled toilet at the hotel given how busy it gets. If I had arrived in a wheelchair and seen the size of the queue I wouldn’t have been very happy. Why are able bodied people using the disabled toilet anyway? The set up seems a bit strange. If they’re trying be an up market place and charge the prices they do then the food quality needs to reflect this, which generally speaking it did not (apart from the few nice chips! . Kind and hard working sadly staff let down by portion sizes and a menu which sounds much better on paper than in reality. Overall just quite disappointing, underwhelming and overpriced which is not justified in the slightest."

"We went into the place thinking that it was going to be amazing as the reviews suggest, however, our experience was terrible. I ordered a tea that wasn’t tasting particularly great, it lacked flavor and I didn’t even finish it, also, I had to ask for another mug because mine was filthy and some lemon or honey for the tea that they couldn’t provide. My partner got a coffee that wasn’t great either. We wanted some food but it wasn’t really a lot of variety, nevertheless, I ordered a sausage sandwich with onion. I had to take it back and ask for a refund as the onion was presented in big chunks and it was raw, I got 2 mini sausages that were slightly undercooked. On the other hand, the staff was really nice and the shop inside was okay."
