"Booked table for Sunday lunch and was expecting usual high standard of food and service. Unfortunately this wasn't the case at all. They were only doing a bar menu which was fine as it did have a roast option but the roast alone was £16.95 per head. The meat was ok but the roasties were deep fried, the amount of mash was so small we eventually found it hiding under the yorkshire, all the veg appeared to be frozen. When you're being charged that much you expect more than frozen peas, carrots and broccoli. We had to send the califlower cheese back as it had no sauce or cheese on it! The waiter we had was very dirty. His clothes were unkept and extremely dirty and for the whole time we were there his mask was under his chin which is unacceptable. The owner didn't seem to care of his attire or for not wearing his mask whilst serving her customers and he was serving multiple tables. In the present climate with COVID this was not acceptable. The other waitress cleared some of our plates and veg away and 2 family members were still eating! Very poor quality for overpriced food. When I went to pay the bill, they had charged me for another table's drinks!! All in all not a good experience unfortunately and not sure why their standards have dropped so much. If I didn't know who the owner was I would have thought it had changed hands. They have clearly priced themselves out the market as it was very expensive for the quality of food and clearly explains why it was so quiet which is a shame as it used to be so good. Will not go back unless they bring the standards back up. COVID can't be blamed for bad service and lack of management."

"We have been in this village last 3 days. We had drink on this pub Thursday and Friday night and for our last night we decided to have dinner here as well. We ordered cheese platter (you can’t get anything wrong with cheese from packet and beef pork meatballs which for some reason had tumeric/ cumin seasoning in. Very overpowered by the tomato sauce. Which is very unusual for Italian dish. I had the burger. The cheddar bear in mind £2 per slice extra wasn’t even melt on meat. Meat was very dry, bun wasn’t toasted. Someone just send it without minimum effort with charging high end prices . The cherry on cake was my husband’s steak. Good lord help. He ordered it medium rare . The steak looked like it’s been slapped on stone cold solid top pan. (Definitely not grill , no seared at all . When young member of staff came to double check if everything is ok (bless him , he was trying the best , my husband asked for the senior staff (lovely lady behind the bar. I believe he explained her we are not happy. Once she came , my husband explained what was wrong with it. She apologised and took it back very professionally. Thank you for that. After few minutes she came back and basically said their chef refused to make another steak and my husband should choose something else from menu. Unfortunately after 23 years working as chef and still working as head chef in high end restaurant that was the most unprofessional and RUDE answer we both ever came a cross (I work in hospitality as well . However we still paid service charge as we did very much enjoyed drinks there every night we stayed. Perhaps more training needed in the kitchen."

"I was very much looking forward to my meal at the Ship Inn, Tresaith. I feel it was overpriced and unfortunately not really that nice. The Katsu chicken starter is ridiculously small. I appreciate it’s a starter but 3 tiny pieces of chicken, a piece of lettuce and some spots of sauce on the plate felt somewhat underwhelming when it arrived. I’m surprised they had the courage to allow it to leave the kitchen. Is there no quality check before items leave the kitchen? For £5 I just felt a bit short changed. Subsequently ordered a steak for my main meal, which at £18.50 is not particularly cheap. Again when it arrived I couldn’t help but feel very disappointed with only a few chips on the plate. On a positive note, the chips were very nice indeed, but sadly there weren’t many of them to enjoy. The meal was therefore immediately disappointing and let down by something which could have been easily remedied. Unfortunately the dish just had no real wow factor. Additionally there were not many peas on the plate. It feels like the chef is trying to be posh and go ‘al a carte’ by giving tiny portions, it just seems like the the identify of the menu/restaurant is quite confused. There was also a thick rind of fat running though the steak. I ordered pepper sauce with my meal and a small amount was drizzled over the steak. I paid for this item and felt like I didn’t really receive it. Would it be that difficult to just serve the sauce separately to allow the customer to dip/pour over their meal as required? Sadly it felt like ration week at the restaurant. I was still very hungry when I finished my meal which is disappointing after spending the best part of £27. Again I just felt quite short changed. I don’t want huge portions and I’m not a big eater or a greedy person, but there simply was not enough food on the plate in my opinion. I felt robbed. The staff are very nice people and clearly work very hard- I overheard a kind gentleman (with a beard and glasses serving another family on a table next to me, I felt a bit sorry for him having to explain several times that many of the items on the menu they had requested were unavailable. The family seemed to be running out of options of what they wanted to order from the menu. It was just all a bit uncomfortable and I wasn’t even sat at that table! Must be quite soul destroying for him having to take the brunt of customer dissatisfaction when many of the problems seem to lie behind the scenes and with management. I’m sure the staff do their very best and it was very busy on a hot day but this shouldn’t affect the quality of food. Something is going very wrong here. I feel a bit more attention to detail is needed which could make it a much better dining experience. If much of the menu is unavailable they shouldn’t really be open. It was sadly quite a disappointing dining experience. I really was hoping it was going to be better than it was. One small disabled toilet with people queuing through the restaurant is not ideal although I appreciate not much can be done about this and it must be quite hard to mange. Seems quite unusual to have only one small disabled toilet at the hotel given how busy it gets. If I had arrived in a wheelchair and seen the size of the queue I wouldn’t have been very happy. Why are able bodied people using the disabled toilet anyway? The set up seems a bit strange. If they’re trying be an up market place and charge the prices they do then the food quality needs to reflect this, which generally speaking it did not (apart from the few nice chips! . Kind and hard working sadly staff let down by portion sizes and a menu which sounds much better on paper than in reality. Overall just quite disappointing, underwhelming and overpriced which is not justified in the slightest."
