"My dad, grandma, and I visited this pub on the first night of our week-long stay in a nearby cottage. It is a small pub with only about 5 or 6 tables, so I would recommend making a reservation on weekends. I ordered the pint and pizza from the menu, and I must say, I have never been so satisfied with a pizza before. It was handmade, not frozen, and you get to choose your toppings, making it tailor-made to your liking. I couldn't find any fault with my meal and would highly recommend the pub, the staff, and the food."

"DO NOT EAT HERE!!! we ordered 2 x chillie con carne 1 x Ham egg and chips 1 x steak, chips and onion rings The steak was very grissly and stringy unpleasant to eat. Chips were all cold and a cheap side salad was served NO checkbacks were made, so after 20 mins we called the young waitress over to explain the steak was not edible. We were told by the owner and chef to use our legs and go to the bar instead of table service. they only had 2 tables in for food a very manageable number! The owner became defensive, verbally aggressive and very unprofessional. After 15/20 mins of aggression from the owner I suggested he cools down and just listened to what should have been a quiet friendly complaint. We were happy to pay for what was eaten off the the steak meal, to which the owner said we had what we ordered. He eventually out of duress removed the steak meal off the bill and said ' you happy now!! Don 't come back! ' We messaged the young girl serving us who ended up crying out of fear and embarrassment) to see if she was OK because the owner was clearly going to blame her. She was told all expenses were going to be taken out of her wages. POOR POOR GIRL"

"We stayed fairly near this pub and were told that it was a 'local ' place to eat. It did not look much from the outside, just a traditional pub but the food provided was very good indeed. There was a good choice (considering COVID restrictions in place so numbers limited) of meals. They were fesh ingredients, home made in most cases, very tasty and very good portions. We enjoyed it so much we went back again later in the week and although it was extremely busy ouside (large number of bikers) the staff still gave very good service and the food was still as good, piping hot and tasty. Prices were quite reasonable.The arrangements for COVID that the pub had in place made us feel safe.A very good pub for a meal."

"It is a rare find to come across a restaurant that offers such a wide variety of vegetarian options that it is difficult to choose! The staff was fantastic and friendly, and the seating and space in the venue were ample. The loaded fries were delicious and I can't wait to try all the other vegetarian dishes on the menu. The Mexican loaded fries with corn salsa were amazing, and the beetroot, feta, and sumac combination could possibly become my new favorite. The carrot juice was incredibly fresh as well! This restaurant has quickly become one of my top choices for lunch in the area. The only criticism I have is that I was given a straw with my drink on my second visit without being asked if I wanted one. I will make sure to request no straw on my next visit. They also offer a variety of meat-free options for my companion."

"We visited Wales to meet up with friends. It wasn’t an easy weekend for us as we were there to scatter my brother’s ashes. My brother loved this location we can see why. What an absolute gem of a pub/hotel. The staff were amazing. They went out of their way to help us were so friendly even when we rocked up with 12 other people 7 dogs for lunch! The room was spacious, clean with a very comfy bed the most amazing view. Great choice of meals drinks amazing service from the staff. Everyone was just so friendly helpful. Thankyou for making a hard weekend that bit easier for us. We will obviously be returning I wouldn’t stay anywhere else!"

"We actually stopped here twice once going on holiday and once on the way back, 2 weeks later. Great food cooked to order and very plentiful, as well as being reasoably priced. Staff are lovely and we enjoyed the artwork, plants for a donation and the tiny shop which hosts a multitude of treats, as well as basics. It also has a book section for new books and lots of second hand books for sale. The toilet facility supports water/toilets in Africa and there is also a child play area. It can get busy at the weekend but the food is worth the wait. My only regret was the novelty biscuits there on the way down were not there on the way back, so we missed out. An incredible little space and a real find that we intend to visit on our next trip to that part of Wales."

"I had heard good reviews about The Feathers Royal and decided to go there for lunch on my lunch break. On arrival, there was no member of staff present in the bar area, even after waiting for five minutes. After ringing the bell, a young man came rushing out and I asked him if lunch was being served. His answer was yes and he handed over the menu. When I ordered my sandwich, there was no mention of a wait on food. After waiting for half an hour, I told the barman that I needed to get back to work and asked whether he could arrange for my lunch to be put in a take away box. A woman immediately appeared in the bar area and explained that they do not offer a take away option. I was with a group of colleagues and we explained to her that we had waited for over half an hour for our sandwiches. The woman's response was offensive and she made no attempt to apologise for the wait. We were made to feel as if we had caused them a problem which has left a bitter taste. The set up seemed to be a shambles with a complete lack of staff members. We left feeling upset that we had been spoken to in such a tone."

"Booked for a meal with myself a fussy vegetarian and a meat eater . The landlady designed the menus around my awkwardness . A lovely bean soup . I asked for the sausage and mash veggie which was lovely . My partner enjoyed his pizza which he choice all the toppings for . Chunky homemade chips were a must even though not needed . Large choices of drinks and staff helpful and welcoming . Would highly recommend a visit . A great hidden gem will be returning soon ."

"We popped into Belottie 's in Cardigan while on holiday to treat my daughter to an ice cream. It appeared a lovely little place and I 'm sure it would indeed be if the service had been better. We ordered two ice creams, a pot of tea and a scone then found a seat. When it was brought the waitress huffed and said; Oh we usually leave the tables here for people eating FOOD. We usually expect others to go into the lounge. Another huff. It was very embarrassing and awkward. There was no signage explaining this or directing a person to the lounge area. It would be beneficial for the establishment to put up a sign indicating this as it was a lovely lounge (we saw on our way to the toilet. It was especially disappointing for us to be treated this way because it was a holiday treat for my daughter after 5 invasive rounds of surgery on her hip and 6 months in a full body cast. Therefore long periods of walking can cause discomfort for her. My advice would be for fellow visitors, look for the lounge. And my advice for business owners; invest in some signs. But until then please respect customers who may he unaware of seating arrangements."

"Our 3rd visit was for Sunday lunch. What a treat! Mediterranean veg. soup mackerel pate, followed by perfect roast lamb roast chicken, accompanied by beautifully cooked veg potatoes, (roast mash boiled). The leeks and broad beans in cream was a tender delight. The smooth creme brulee rounded the meal off well. Only a few other restaurants in the area can cook as well but none are as reasonably priced. £14.95 for 2 courses, £17.95 for 3. There is a fish veggie option as well.Lunch is only served Fri- Sun and the restaurant has not been as busy as it should be, whenever we have visited. The staff are attentive and offer to adapt dishes to suit dietary needs. The dining room is separate to the bar and decorated in a contemporary style. We love it!"

"Last night of a family holiday. Staying in Brynowen (15 20 mins away) but wanted somewhere nice for our “last supper”! Settled on a Thai meal and TripAdvisor suggested this place. Last review indicated the Orchid had moved a couple of streets away so thankfully we went to Pier Street. Aberystwyth itself was dead. Friday night. Quite surprised but apparently the local university has finished for the summer, its only the beginning of peak holiday season and the weather today was shocking. But still expected the centre of the nearest decent sized town to be somewhat more bustling than dead! Orchid had only one other couple in when we arrived so no need to book. Shown to a table by a friendly waitress who remained so throughout. Had the mixed starter which was lovely. A variety of different starters meat, vegetarian and fish all delicious. Then I had the chicken Penang curry. Again, really really tasty and enjoyed it a lot. In fact my whole table really enjoyed their food and the chef came out at the end and was equally friendly. It’s a shame the chances of my girlfriend and I returning to this part of the world anytime soon are remote otherwise we’d include Orchid in our list of monthly eateries. Highly recommended. P.S. Pay in excess of £30 is accepted at this restaurant."

"We called in to Penllwyndu on 21.02.2022 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The food was of a really good quality chilli, chicken curry and beef/mushroom casserole but the stand out feature of this pub is the warmth and hospitality of the two gentlemen running the place, one in the kitchen and one in the bar. The regulars in the bar were a very friendly bunch, offering a warm welcome, but the landlords were fantastic. They made us feel very welcome, checked that everything was in order with our food and spent a few minutes chatting, passing the time of day and generally being lovely hosts This is not an easy place to find, especially in the dark, but I would highly recommend that you make the effort to do so as these two fine fellas deserve support"

"25/1/23 Popped in here for a light lunch and wasn 't disappointed. The choice is great (see pictures) and very tasty. I opted for the winter veg soup which was a very generous portion filled with numerous veg and flavoured with ginger and chilli (homemade) together with a cheese and onion toastie followed by a pot of tea (which came with hot water. Yay! The whole lot came to less than a tenner which I thought was a bargain and certainly in line with other establishments in the area. If your in the area and like the personal touch instead of the usual 'grab it and go ' that 's on offer then I urge you to visit. All the food is delicious. You won 't be disappointed. 5"

"Visited here for 2 nights with a friend booked a twin room asked for sea view but weren't given one. On arrival hotel had scaffold up on front but to me that wasn't a problem work needs doing. Booked in friendly staff. Nice looking reception area. We were given a room at back of hotel room was small and bit cramped for 2 of us and no table to eat food off we used the ironing board. Bedding was a bit lumpy see picture bed was not made to a good standard. Breakfast was a bring to the room job in a paper bag. Was OK under the circumstances could have done with sauce for bacon/sausage bap as was bit dry. We ordered an evening meal to the room and I must say it was lovely. I think under different circumstances this hotel would have been a good stay. We managed to park at back of hotel in car park but once we moved car had to go in overflow carpark just down road from hotel. An enjoyable stay but I think the room we had should be single occupancy not twin. Right on seafront with a good view over the beach and sea. Staff were helpful when we needed things for our room eg, tea bags milk etc."

"Very friendly welcome when we popped in for drinks and food twice during our stay in the area. The portions were massive and the meals (lasagne and steak and ale pie) appeared to be home made and were very tasty. Dog friendly and great service, the staff couldn't do enough."

"This isn’t a proper bakery where they bake their own bread, which disappointed me. It’s prepackaged from a local company and is also sold at the convenience store down the road. I’m sure this place does great hot food (as mentioned in other reviews) but I didn’t try that. I went in at 8.30am on a Saturday and the cake counter was almost empty and the pasties still cooking. I bought two Paradise Slices but wondered afterwards if they were the previous day’s batch as they tasted quite stale, unfortunately. I wish I’d saved my money."

"Positive aspects: The waitstaff was friendly and helpful, the service was quick, and the portions of hot food were generous. The restaurant was clean. The veggie burger, though served on a sweet brioche bun, was decent without being overly spiced. The lasagne was disappointing, resembling more of a beef pie with pasta casing rather than traditional lasagne. The homemade dish was topped with a heap of rocket, which seemed out of place. The cheesecake was store bought and had a soggy bottom. Overall, the experience was underwhelming and I do not plan on returning. The bartender also seemed unenthusiastic about their job."

"Sospan Fach is a beautiful little cafe full of Welsh charm. Avril her team give such a warm welcome and a there's a fantastic menu of hot and cold food to choose from (I've sampled their perfect comfort food day treat cheese potato pie and today their chicken club with crispy bacon, both of which I'd highly recommend! Their homemade elderflower cordial is unmatched by supermarket brought stuff and is a must have for refreshment. It is also available to buy bottled from the cafe along with some tasty jams chutneys. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to try the gorgeous looking cakes as I've filled up on lunch but will be making a dedicated cake and coffee trip to do so soon!"

"We stopped in here on the off chance on our last night in the area. Despite being fully booked in the restaurant, we were kindly accommodated in the bar. We were able to pre order before the food service time so that our food was cooked for us and on the table by 6.15 much appreciated with a hungry 5 year old and a long night time drive to Bristol that evening! The food was delicious and some of the best we had on the peninsula. We ordered the seafood pasta (which had plenty of seafood in it), the pork belly and the kids fish and chips. Highly recommended."

"Our first time eating since the pub changed hands a few weeks ago and we were very pleased with our evening. The pub is very clean, warm and welcoming. We were welcomed and served by the new owners and were made to feel at home straightaway. Our meal was delicious we both had steak and it was very good with home made chips, mushrooms, tomato, onion rings and salad. No room for dessert as the portion size was just right. Happily would recommend the pub for very reasonable prices, good food and a good atmosphere :"
