"When I called to book, I was offered two time slots for dinner and took the 6:30pm one (I'm glad we didn't take the later one! . When we arrived, the bar and dining room had a fair number of customers, but there were plenty of spare tables. There was a bit of a wait to be seated in the restaurant and I got the impression the staff were struggling to cope with the limited number of customers. After being seated in the restaurant, we weren't kept waiting too long to order our meals (2 . We didn't order any starters, but we had to wait over an our for our food to be served. A family of four seated on a nearby table had arrived before us and their main course didn't arrive until we'd nearly finished our meals. I have no complaints about the quality of food, I order gammon, which was tasty, not too salty and cooked just right. Having waited so long for our main course, we thought twice about ordering dessert, but took a gamble we wouldn't have to wait quite as long. The desserts arrived reasonably quickly and were very nice. We did receive a verbal apology for the slow service, but at no time did any member of the staff ask if the food was to our liking. The staff were quite pleasant though. Even though we didn't order starters, I don't consider a wait of over an hour to serve a main course is acceptable, and waiting staff should always ask if the food is to the customer's liking. The average rating is a reflection of the poor service and not the quality of food. Had the service been better we would probably have returned for a second meal."

"Despite high rating I wasn’t impressed, mostly with the attitude which lacked the supposed friendliness that the café is attributed – not least by themselves. I ordered a BLT sandwich and my friend the Smoked Salmon and Avocado sandwich. When my “sandwich” arrived it was actually in a sourdough bap. I’m not overly fond of buns and baps as they can be quite bready and dry but if I had wanted one I might have well ordered the bacon in a sourdough bap option. Anyway, bringing this to the attention of the server she told me “No, this is your order, it is correct.” I didn’t want to be difficult but felt it needed to be said that typically, a sandwich was a filling between two pieces of sliced loaf and this was clearly a bap or bun. The server looked me in the eye, obviously miffed, told me I was wrong and that in her opinion – in her opinion mind my bap was a sandwich. She then turned her back to walk away from me. I reached out and tried to engage with her again on a friendly level to acknowledge that some people might call it that but this wasn't usual but she wasn’t interested. My friend and I just ate up and left. Food for thought, my lettuce and 2 slices of tomato with way too much mayo cost an additional £2.50 over their own sourdough bacon bap. And my friend who ordered the salmon and avocado did actually get a sandwich but soon realised that salmon and avocado is great on toast but not in a sandwich unless you like mush. In conclusion, even if the food had been brilliant, the attitude was all wrong. Won’t be going back I’m afraid."

"Our experience was 1 out of 5. The “restaurant “ was very loud for starting and we ask the waitress to close the partisan door and that worked. We booked for four people and we turned up on time and they were confused but because...we showed our reservation they expected us. Took them long time to even bring the 4 bottles of water what we asked for. Then we ordered our starters and mains and the most expensive vine. They brought the vine after like 15-20 minutes and just put it on our table not offering to get us to teasing it. So we did it our selfs and it was very sour so we asked the waiter to swap it for a Spanish cheaper vine. Main courses were fair much over cooked and bad taste and when we asked for the manager basically they ignored us. So we asked for the bill. Waitress bring the bill with the expensive vine on the bill. So we told her we got it changed. Then we had to ask for the vine list to check the right price because they did not had a clue. So we told them how much it was. The guy who was claiming to be the manager he was not even apologised ones. We was absolutely disappointed to be ruined our dinner on holiday. The manager was telling me that he get the right bill. Well I had to chase him after about 20 minutes. And he was telling me that he can’t change the bill. So I took the original which we not even paying and told him do not bother. Not recommend to everyone the shame kitchen ! Absolutely joke place."
