"Today the first time ordered 2 x Lasagne, the taste immediately reminded me of my Italy holiday. "Found this little gem on TA and had to try it. My local Angermund-Düsseldorf friends were not keen on visiting Duisburg but this place changed their mind A tiny hole in the wall place and we got lost driving around so I put on the Waze app which works perfectly here in Germany. NOTE: Bring CASH.... No credit cards accepted Lovely Laotian decor, fragrances abound from delicious food. Very authentic and unique. We sat down and they have a full bar so I ordered a Caipirinha cocktail . Authentic and delicious (strong) My first friend ordered a nice hot mint tea and the other one ordered a fresh orange juice. We ordered the assorted appetizer platter with authentic sauces. Really yummy. Then I ordered the crispy duck with the rice noodles And was pleasantly surprised that it was boneless and sliced perfectly. Friend #1 then ordered the fresh Victoria Lake perch fish dish with sauce and vegetables. Friend #2 ordered the pan sautéed whole white cod. Both came with Jasmine rice. It is obviously a family owned restaurant and I was extremely impressed. Five stars for cleanliness, comfort, presentation, service, and the food of course."

"We were eating with our two children at La Stella today. The service was pleasant, attentive and very child-friendly. The food was a dream. "I have lived across the street and passed this little restaurant for the past 9 months then decided to take the step of actually trying the food last night, and it did NOT disappoint. We ordered the mixed starter for 2 and it was served...freshly made with very good presentation made from vegetable which made the food look even better. I had the spicy chicken noodle dish and my brother had the masamee which was excellent. We didn't realize the size of the portions and my brother ordered 2 side dishes of fried rice also. Every piece of meat and every vegetable had the taste and flavors running strait through them with the meat cooked perfectly. Once again the main meals came with the same beautiful presentation as the starter. As we are Scottish it was good to see that there was an English menu which there are not many of in this part of Germany. The staff were very courteous, friendly and also spoke good English which was a bonus. The restaurant itself was spotless clean, warm and busy which it is most days nights. The bill was also a shock, very cheap for what we had to eat drink. If you are ever in Duisburg, do yourself a favor visit this unique restaurant."

"Admittedly, Duisburg doesn't have nearly as many nice-looking cafés or restaurants in comparison to other Rhine-Ruhr cities. I give my hats off to Da Roberto for being a cosy little place with understated pizza (very satisfying, and flavours that will just make your tongue and stomach thank you) and pretty friendly staff. It does take a while for them to bring out your food, so I'd recommend you go when you have a solid hour or so to spare for a meal.All in all, great interior and welcoming atmosphere, and Da Roberto would fit nicely on par with other café/restaurants in hipster/ trendy neighbourhoods around the globe."

"Brendel is not the easiest place to explain. Let's start with the slightly peculiar menu, which everywhere else would be described as Spanish-German tapas. This would make sense, for example, of what is basically a very light (with an excellent yoghurty sauce) patatas bravas; whereas...ordering them as a starter' (as described) would leave you baffled. Other elements of the menu are a selection of Flammenkuchen (Alsace pizza) very tasty but large and sameish: best shared by a group rather than as a main course; and an increasing selection of classic German meat dishes: the ox cheeks were a delight. There are several excellent Spanish-inspired fish dishes (eg pulpo). The kitchen is excellent (the chef previously held a Michelin star) with a strong emphasis on ingredients, including show-casing the local produce. The odd dish ends up a fraction confused, but interesting nonetheless. The setting is basically wine-bar/cafe style: well designed clean lines, bustling, with some tables shared, and no reservation (come early and be prepared to wait). Service is attentive if a touch slow. There is an extensive wine list (including some new world, but mostly German) and a slightly small, but decent, selection of wines by the glass with some specials. If you think cafe' it's rather expensive; if you think modern European' it's good value."

A commendable selection of items to put in, but the broth tasted like it was flown in directly from the dead sea (extremely salty). Snacks StationOne of the items was labelled, the other one wasn't. The temperature was lukewarm at best, and the sauces were either endangered or extinct.The BuffetUpto the mark. The variety and quality of meats, vegetables and herbs was excellent. The only complaint was that in this particular branch, there weren't any nuts on offer (Apparently they didn't have any that day). It may not seem to be a significant part of the meal, but having been used to a crunch in the food, its absence made all the difference.DessertOur stay extended towards the better part of 9pm, and by that time the dessert station was pretty much empty, and to our surprise wasn't refilled. Luckily we managed to score the last two cups of stracciatella mousse. The taste was to die for, but the lack of replenishment left us longing for more. "While visiting friends in Duisburg we visited this restaurant we were lucky to get a reservation as we only gave 1 day notice we got a table for 6 o'clock and by this time the restaurant was half full.We were greeted warmly by the staff...and shown to our table ,service was very good and the food superb. It was a very busy night and we were not hurried to leave.The meals were reasonably priced and the house red wine good.We intend to visit the restaurant on our return to Duisburg next year.In our opinion highly recommended."

"went to lunch. lunch card is available, looks good: changing selection from the menu. we ordered to say that drinks must be one for dishes from this card no matter. we had the fish soup, large portion, for regular 11,00 € and the twill pizza. both was remarkably average. a rather thick teig, not crispy, with a lot of tweeping and a little bit of a cheaper side. the suppe was developed as a tomato broth with many kartoffel pieces, some fish pieces, moose and a few slices otopus. seemingly no other flavor, no more crumbs, except salt and pepper and a bit sharp. There were 4 discs of boring brot, ajvar from the glass, similar garlauchmayonnaise and not quite fresh garlic butter. both was not better than what we were able to prepare at home easily. it is a good place for "if they are really hungry and really can't go anywhere else.""

"Vapiano is located in the beautiful inner harbour (the Perle Duisburgs)....being not very big, but outside you sit very nice and quiet on the water. The food tastes very good, I prefer the pizzas. Here you get very extraordinary applauses that have so far tasted very well. The price, performance ratio is unbeatable. The dishes are freshly prepared, the quality has not yet disappointed me.
