"We heard that the pub had re-opened, so decided to visit for my husband's birthday and had pre-booked. We arrived and were seated at our table, at no point were we told or made aware that there was an issue with lack of food. It was left to the poor waitress to tell diners that most of the menu was unavailable, no burgers, chips, steaks, onion rings the list kept getting bigger and bigger as the evening went on (only 7.30 pm). We tried to order a burger, mixed grill, onion rings, only to be told they did not have them or a check would have to be made with the kitchen. After two or three choices being vetoed, we both went for the gammon, egg and fries (chips not available), ordering a drink at the same time. Half an hour later, we still did not have our drink, so my husband went up to the bar and they seemed completely oblivious to the drinks order, we did finally get our drinks a few minutes after that. Our dinner came out a short time after and it was very disappointing, definitely not Instagram worthy. A small piece of chewy gammon, one small overcooked egg and some very sad looking fries with peas. For two cokes, two gammon dinners and some halloumi fries it was just under £40, we did not bother with a dessert as the wait time was ridiculous for service. The tables in the restaurant are very close together in places and we could hear other diners, who were having the same issues as us. A family had come in at roughly the same time as us and had still not received their main when we left (they did not have starters). We still left a tip for the waitress, as I felt so bad for her, she was given the task of telling diners about the lack of food and was constantly backwards and forwards to the kitchen to check what was and wasn't available. If you don't have most of the menu, maybe close the restaurant and put a sign up to explain the reasons why, rather than leave it to your poor staff to take the heat. We were really looking forward to celebrating my husband's birthday at your pub and it was thoroughly disappointing on every level, we could not wait to leave, the food was certainly not worth the money paid."

"I sat here with my family for dinner to celebrate my graduation and it was a good time. first, the service was only so slow. it wasn't even busy, but we just seemed to wait and wait to order and then be served, which wasn't good for groomed foolies! I also felt that eating was overpriced. 16 for a vegan sri Lankan curry that we noticed was the same price as the huh sri Lanka curry that looked in fat floating photo and came with a small pot rice and naan gf brot for my mother is just crazy expensive. to compare, I just wrote an evaluation for an Indian restaurant, where I had the best curry of my life and 15.99 she gets poppadom and 5 vegan flavors, a starter, a curry and a rice vegan! naan, who were all amazing and the portion sizes were huge enough to take rest after home and for dinner the next day we had spent very little peace in the opposite horse that we had left on white. I had the Harissa nut roast, which was a more imaginative pornstar and beautiful enough, but nothing to write home. to make it vegan, they also have to leave the tzatziki sauce, which are encircled with a series of the main only 2 are vegan, how is the rest in the vegetarian options. the sweet potato friars were good, but not exactly something special for the white horse! my mother had the sri Lankaurry she said was "virtually inedible" due to the amount of oil swimming on it. it actually had to use a spoon and a serviette to remove the worst from above. it was really an incredible amount! my father had the meat-free Linguine blog. it was nice enough, but mostly pasta, again a bit greasy and nothing special there was nothing really in the bolognese except vegan minze and tomaten. 14 because it was an absolute tear for what you get, especially because it can make a much more beautiful with red wine, mushrooms and garlic to house! he also cooks his without oil, so it is really not necessary that the food to the level of the fat! my omni-sister and her fiancé had many meat-fish options that seemed much more worth on the price and more. imaginatiw. overall we felt that the vegan offers of the white horse were overpriced, excessively fat and unimaginative. we will not return. nb. the above description with vegan burger, vegan sausages and maische etc. is outdated: impulseandplantate updated by the previous rating on 2021 05 30"

"than a review this is a feedback to the management regarding their policy for takeaways. Last Saturday I visited the pub to order a Burger for a takeaway. The first thing that I was told by the gentleman at the bar counter was that...they are very busy and it will take minutes for any takeaway. I said that I am ok with that and I can come back and collect it. To this , I was told that I will have to be allocated a table. I said that's ok. You can allocate a table but I will collect the food from the counter. The gentleman said that's not possible. I was not able to understand what the issue was. So I told him again that you can allot a table but I do not want to wait around for minutes, so i can come back and collect it from the counter. There was another gentleman who was listening in and told his colleague to allocate the table in front of the bar but he also said the same thing, that I can only pick up the food at the table and if I don't come back on time ,they don't want the food to lie there and get cold. I once again told him that I am going to be around the area and that I live just minutes away from the pub and finally they agreed. But in the end the burger that I wanted was not available so I ended up not buying anything from there. I would really like to understand the rationale behind this policy of having to be alloted a table for a takeaway. Wouldn't the management rather allocate that table to some one else who may order in and have a few drinks than to someone who is not going to order anything else other than wait for his takeaway. The pub is really nice but the service levels can definitely improve."
