"Popped in for an adhoc lunch having not been to a Harvester for some time since our local one closed. Pleasantly surprised by the superb standard of service and cleanliness. Excellent menu and food served was delivered promptly and piping hot. Definitely the best experience we've had at a Harvester...we'll certainly be back. Dan (the manager) and the whole team could not have been friendlier or more attentive. Vegetarian options: Good varied choice of veggie options. I'm a creature of habit and usually pick the same thing when eating out but there's lots to choose from that I will be trying on future visits!"

"This was our first time at an Ask restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly, polite, and attentive. The service was relatively quick, but not rushed, and the food was absolutely delicious. The children's meal option was great, offering 3 courses and a babychino for just under £7, while the adult main menu was very reasonably priced. As a family of 3 (2 adults, 1 child), we enjoyed a 3-course meal for nearly £60. We would definitely return if in the area and will keep an eye out for other Ask restaurants in different locations."

"I am extremely disappointed with the food and quality of this restaurant. Initially, I requested fish but was told it was sold out, so I settled for portabello mushrooms. However, I was informed that they only had breaded mushrooms, which I declined. I also ordered prawns in garlic and chicken wings. When the chicken wings arrived, they were cold. After sending them back, they were returned very hot, which was satisfactory. The other three meals were decent but not great, and all portions of chips were cold. I will not be returning to this restaurant, and I will be sharing my negative experience with friends."

"First time trying pizza here , was a nice change , tasted fresh we ate the lot, and delivery was very quick. Are only criticism was that the chicken wings could of had a bit more sauce/flavour , but really enjoyed overall."

"It has always been a treat to have lunch at The Red Lion, but I notice corners are being cut butter is not in little pots any more with the red lion logo on top. My artichoke soup was delicious and could not be faulted imaginative with olives and parmesan cheese; the chicken liver parfait was pleasant but a bit cloying and came with a large slab of toasted brioche just the one and two thinner piece would have been more delicate, plus there was a lack of sweet jelly or even a spring of watercress. They are good, but if they believe in themselves much more, they will become unbearable. I will go bak but I hope to see an improvement in attitude."

"Decided to give this place a try having been to Prezzo a number of times over the years and was very pleasantly surprised the restaurant itself was larger than I'd expected and was nicely decorated, and the food was excellent and enjoyed by the...whole family. We had a range of different dishes pizza, pasta, risotto and a vegan burger (with real cheese) and all were absolutely delicious. The pasta and risotto portions were also good certainly bigger than the meagre portions we've been given in some other restaurants. The only thing I would just mention is that some of the prices are slightly on the high side £12.95 (plus 10% tip) for a burger (which did come with very nice fries) did seem slightly steep. Nonetheless, we're all looking forward to our next visit."

"My husband, who grew up in the area, had a reunion with a high school friend who also married an American. After visiting the abbey across the street earlier that day, we were surprised when they suggested meeting up at this restaurant in the evening. I have always enjoyed the food in the UK, and this place did not disappoint. I was thrilled to see braised pork belly on the menu, which was cooked perfectly and served in a generous portion. I had no problem with the black pudding, as it reminded me of a Filipino dish. The apple fritter, which I initially mistook for an onion ring, was a nice touch. For dessert, I had the warm, sticky ginger toffee pudding, which was a perfect ending to the meal. Our friends were regulars at the restaurant and had a nice table reserved for us in the back. The ambiance was lovely and it was a great place to enjoy a meal with friends. It would also be a nice spot for a romantic dinner for a couple. Keep in mind that parking is limited and tight, so be prepared to walk a few blocks if you can't find a spot right away."

"Well haven’t been here for 15 years and I have to say the food I had was absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend the slow cooked pork belly it was a stunning plate of food and was lucky to speak to the chef who also had some of his family dining to tell him how much I thoroughly enjoyed eating his food. Staff were also very professional and very polite. Will definitely be dining there again and highly recommend to my friends and family and anyone else who would like great food at reasonable prices."

"Lunch with our elderly relative. Whilst we were grateful to be given the chance to have a meal after chance walk in, we were informed that we would need to vacate the table in an hour and fifteen. Fine we thought, ordered immediately and my husband got our drinks. We waited and waited and after 45 minutes were concerned that indeed we would run out of time to eat our meal (actually two sharer plates) between the 3 of us. After some chasing the food did arrive. Why it took quite so long I couldn’t say, the food itself wasn’t brilliant, but edible. So, the time came for the staff to come to our table and ask us to leave well we were barely half way through our food, so I suggested they allow us to finish our food or refund us. I have NEVER been asked to leave a table whilst eating. I would therefore like to warn those thinking of coming to this establishment, allow plenty of time for your meal as the food could take some time to arrive. The view from the table however was amazing, but not impressed that our 90 year old relative was even asked to leave in such a manner. Very disappointing indeed!"

"The food was very good. Although they had a couple of items unavailable (understandable at times). However, the customer service left a lot to be desired. We had to ask someone for another round of drinks. Also our dishes were collected after eating our mains, and we were left to our own devices. Nobody informed us that the kitchen was closing. So my husband was unable to indulge in his favourite pudding. Then the icing on the cake was management refusal to accept Scottish £20 notes (although they are legal tender) Again there was no prior warning given, hence only a 3."

"My sister in law and I visited for lunch. We both ordered the advocado and prawn cocktail from the starter menu she had eaten this at another Greene King pub and said it was very good. Service was pleasant and prompt and after a...short wait, our food arrived but we realised after a bit of a search, that there was no avocado in the cocktail! We drew this to the attention of the waitress who went off and spoke to the chef. She came back and said chef says we haven't got any avocado, there's a shortage, sorry We ate the cocktails, which were quite tasty with an acceptable amount of prawns, although they contained a lot of lettuce presumably to make up for the lack of avocado. At the till we mentioned again that we were disappointed and asked why we were not told about the avocado problem when we ordered. Another sorry but no real effort to understand why we were not happy. It seems to me if you are going to provide a dish which isn't as described on the menu, this should be flagged up when the order is placed, and the customer offered a choice of accepting the dish as it comes or ordering something else. I'd still be prepared to eat here again as it was a nice setting, the staff were pleasant but we felt they had been let down too by not being told of the problem at the start of their shift. Lynne P"

"meet with friends who live in front of places and this is one of their favorite choices that they treat us here for a meal. very friendly service despite a lot of pleasure and funeral on request of my wife less flavor in their desired choice could be the sharp of behind the face mask here. beautiful eating beautiful location conveniently located, we felt with extensive decisions both eating and drinks wise, the only negatiw was the seeming desire to leave us asap while we still eat that came as surprise, I could not imagine a crazy rush that was around 9 o'clock on a Monday night"

"When planning to travel from Portsmouth to Normandy, my Dad and I were keen to find a place close to the ferry terminal, that would have a good traditional English pub that served hearty food. We didn't have to look far upon our arrival in Fareham. From the moment we walked into the pub we were greeted with a very warm welcome by the gentleman behind the bar. Even though we arrived fairly early for an evening meal, he was very obliging. The Golden Lion reminds me of the old London pubs. It has a quintessentially English feel to it with traditional decor. They serve a good selection of fresh cooked food at a very reasonable price and serve generous portions. Credit to the chef, who was a lovely young man, he clearly takes pride in his work and the fish and chips are one of the nicest we have ever had. For that extra special something treat yourself to the Biscoff Profiteroles, I defy anyone to eat them without licking their lips. The owner was very welcoming, she took the time to talk with us and had we not been having to travel so early the next day we would have stayed longer. All too often pubs just don't get it right. But The Golden Lion is on the money and they deserve every success in their business. Thank you"

"Was surprised offer of a early evening meal here from the boyfriend who had come for lunch a few weeks ago.The car park is big enough so no worrying where to park we were lucky as we hadn't booked a table here we got seated and food order you have to do at the bar and pay beforehand which is a good idea as soon as you eaten no waiting around you can just go.The food was really delicious and decent size plates we has the lasagne and chicken pie which was plentiful didn't have room for pudding! The one downside was allowing dogs in which we had a dog near us and it kept barking of which we also heard another table commenting on this that was the only thing we found wrong but it won't stop us going back as food was nice"

"The food at the Whiteley branch of Friendly Phils was distinctly underwhelming. The burger patty was black and crunchy in places where it was so overcooked, and the burger bun had blackened edges from being burnt. Salad garnishes on the plate and in the burgers contained brown edged wilted lettuce. They got the orders wrong for one person on our table. We then had to experience a female member of staff and a male chef uttering expletives and discriminatory terminology when loudly discussing a customer who was at the next table to us because that customer had asked about allergies. We felt very uncomfortable listening to that. I think the woman doing this was the manageress because she was the only one not wearing an apron and appeared to be telling others what to do. The staff didn 't give time to read the menu before 3 of them came to the table within about 10 seconds of each other their impatience was quite palpable. the woman who I think is the manageress actually huffed at us when we asked for more time before ordering. There was a query at one of the tables near us the woman who I think is the manageress started yelling at those people from about 5 feet away. Then she went to their table again and started bellowing at them. We also found that behaviour very uncomfortable to witness. One of the waitresses continually fiddled with the pony tail in her hair, then did not wash her hands before handling plates of food. Another waitress used a cloth to wipe down a table, then went straight to the chef station and picked up two plates of food to carry to customers, also without washing her hands first. I also saw a waitress 'huff ' onto a glass and buff it with her apron before filling it on the drinks machine and carrying it to another table. The tables were quite dirty and we had to wipe food off the seats before we could sit. The cutlery was filthy with lumps of dried food on. A lamp next to our table had a thick layer of dust on it. The toilets were also dirty. In the ladies toilets there was an industrial sized toilet roll placed on the edge of the sink which had what looked like dried faeces on ! The sink itself was filthy with lots of soggy tissue in it, and the floor was wet. The toilets smelled like there was a drain problem. The whole experience was quite unpleasant needless to say we left much quicker than we had anticipated and will not be returning. This is probably the worst restaurant I have been to in this decade. They certainly donlt live up to their name of friendly ."

"If you like to pay pub prices for a drink in a plastic tumbler to drink in the car park outside because you’re not allowed to sit in because you haven’t booked then this is your place. Sure, you’ll get some waffle about the beautiful view whilst enjoying your drink outside and how you can’t take a real glass outside. Get yourself some beers from the local co op and take them down there, it’s a lot nicer and cheaper too."

"If you're looking to upgrade from Burger King, be prepared to bring your wallet to this restaurant. I was surprised to see that a basic burger, small fries, and milkshake for one person cost £20. While the food was tastier than BK and felt more like a diner meal, the price caught me off guard. If I had bought lunch for a family of four, it would have been even more expensive, especially when considering a trip to the neighboring Cinema or Rock Up climbing center. The decor and furniture seemed cheap and the ambience was lacking. The service was adequate but nothing special, and I was unsure why there was a tip jar at the order counter. Despite the high price, the milkshake was delicious and not overwhelming. I had heard great things about Five Guys, but the cost is making me hesitant to return."

"Sept 24 Good food, reasonably priced, and good atmosphere but most of all, great service from Caroline and Suzie. We felt like royalty! Well done Ladies. Well done Team Oast. Aug 24 The restaurant was heaving Fri night and there they were really short staffed as 3 staff had phoned in sick. Despite this, the Manager Declan, Table Sitter (sorry didn’t catch her name) and our Waitress Clare were fantastic – efficient, helpful and endlessly smiley despite being run off their feet. The food was flavoursome and good value as always. Well done Team Oast – we’ll be back!"

"Hubby and I search the surrounding areas for fantastic food served for Sunday lunch, we came to Queens Head after seeing someone had posted that there was a new chef and the food was top notch! They weren't wrong, this is our go to place in between finding other places to eat, we could easily eat there every week, the roast potatoes are incredible, the Yorkshire pudding is colossal and crispy, the veg is piping hot and not over cooked, the meat is in abundance, lashings of gravy, ticks every single box! The puddings are amazing too! Really they are! Highly recommend this lovely cosy place, the staff are brilliant and very attentive at the right times, love love love this place, if you haven't tried it, you don't know what you're missing! Massive thumbs up to the chef, what a cook, please don't ever leave"

"Took my mum out for lunch, as came here at Christmas 2022 with a friend. Staff came over and asked what we like to drink as it was cold I ordered a tea and cappuccino it arrived I had to sent the cappuccino back as it was cold waiter apolgize and got me another, which wasn't much better so I asked for a pot of hot water to keep the coffee warm. We had a small roast dinner, beef was slice wafer thin beef shop bought not proper beef, roast potatoes and parsnips could of been a bit crisper. The gravy was tasty though. Pudding mine was misleading I thought I'd get lemon sponge with lemon sauce on top and custard only to have a lemon icing cake and custard so don't order lemon sponge as you"ll get a frosted icing cake that doesn't go with custard. Two positives would be the gravy and service was good, shame the meal wasn't good as came here on 14th December 2022 with a friend for a Christmas meal and we had a great time and food was brilliant. This time not so good coffee machine was either on the blink or water wasn't boiled to right temperature."
