"This hotel is all about location. With direct access to the beach and far reaching views across the water to the Île d'Oléron. If you love sunsets, this is the place to come. There is a waterside swimming pool and lawn overlooking the beach which is a lovely spot to relax. A special mention to the staff who were all very friendly throughout our stay. The room was bright and clean with a comfortable bed, a separate WC and shower room. Air conditioning has been installed but we did not seem to get it to work it was 28c and the room was very warm. The room also has a kettle with a couple of mugs, a small fridge and some water which was good. We loved sitting out on the balcony and enjoying an amazing sunset after dinner. We had dinner on the terrace with the sun setting this really was a stunning location. The did a set price 3 course meal for about €36 a head. We really enjoyed both the taste and presentation of the food. The views were stunning as the sun began to set. We both started with a poached beetroot on a mousse of goats cheese, followed by main of prawns with rice and chicken on crushed potatoes. Deserts were delicious, a coffee and chocolate profiterole and a chocolate and peach tart. We had a bottle of lovely cold, crisp Muscadet Bonnets Blancs. Service was very attentive and it was a lovely meal. Breakfast was OK, however they were running low on croissants etc and the orange juice machine was causing problems. Not sure it was worth paying 15€ each. There is a small car park, and street parking outside the hotel. I booked direct with the hotel and on arrival there seemed some confusion about our booking despite me showing the confirmation email. We were eventually allocated room 16 which was a superior seaside room (the grade we had booked). It did feel a bit small, but the view was wonderful and it was not over the restaurant so more peaceful."

"Whilst on holiday in the area, my family two adults and two children) had dinner here on a Thursday evening in June. We had the restaurant to ourselves at first but then a trickle of locals joined us which is always a good sign. La Tremblade seemed to be very quiet that evening with most restaurants offering shellfish dishes, the local delicacy. We had already patronised one of these establishments and in the absence of a traditional French restaurant, we chose the Gili Cafe. The maitre d ' was very hospitable and welcoming. We were given the 'a la carte ' menu which was a mix of fusion cuisine; a blend of Asian, mainly Thai and European. We had prawn toasts, spring rolls, ceviche and a poke bowl. Main courses included the beef dish which fyi is served cold, gourmet burger, and Pad Thai x 2. Desserts included chocolate mousse, a gourmet chocolate dessert plate, an ice cream and two espresso. Whilst most dishes were just ok, the standout dishes were the spring rolls best ever according to my son) and the chocolate gourmet dessert plate which was excellent patisserie. With a 50cl carafe of Rose and soft drinks, the bill came to €160 service charge not included). I felt the meal was over priced having spent €90 on another family meal on the pier and experiencing a lunchtime 3 course 'plat du jour ' menu in Montendre for €16 in previous days. Lesson learned...when in France on holiday, eat French inspired food for good value. In fairness to the restaurant, the chef seemed to cook the main courses to order and the locals seemed to enjoy their evening so it obviously meets local expectations."

"I'm not a big seafood lover but when you visit somewhere like La Tremblade you can't avoid it! A walk down this particular road is lined with seafood restaurants and trying to pick one can be difficult.Le Pilotis is slightly different to the others because the restaurant is set back off the road and faces back towards the land rather than out to the little river inlet. We were given an amazing table right by the window overlooking an oyster bed and able to watch the setting sun which was lovely. My husband - who loves seafood - chose one of the formulas. Three oysters, three prawns for starters followed by moules in the house sauce and a cafe gourmand dessert. The oysters were lovely - salty and fresh and served with a little lemon juice. But the prawns were the real revelation. Sweet and succulent they were simply stunning. My main course was a white fish fillet served with a warm sauce - I think it was the house sauce but reminded me of Canadian red mojo sauce. It came with sautéed potatoes, mashed potatoes and basmati rice. Really enjoyed that.My son - who is an outright carnivore - had a fillet steak with chips. He wolfed it down in no time - nothing was left behind!!My husband's dessert consisted of six mini desserts, a glass of vanilla run and espresso. All together the meal came to just over 80 euros. But it was a quality meal and worth the money - although my husband did feel he'd probably eaten too much when it came time for bed!!!"
