"We’ve visited a couple of times since the ‘massive re furb’ and can’t recommend it highly enough. For those of you that may have visited previously, and maybe, like us, were not overly enamoured with the food you’ve got to return. A huge improvement. It’s like walking into an entirely different pub. We went on the opening weekend, I had the T bone steak and it was worth every penny. So much som that we returned for my birthday. Great location, with great views and dog friendly. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we’ll definitely be back."

The Grumpy Mole Brockham

"We have visited the Grumpy Mole several times a year since moving to the area 7 years ago and it has always been one of our favourites. This year though the service has deteriorated and put a real dampener on our visits. We’ve been about 5 times already this year. And several things have happened in that time: we asked for some cordial juice suitable (for our 3 year old), we got served lemonade and lime! Then when we said no we got given the worst look in the world by the waitress we’ve waited over 40mins for the bill and then when we went to the bar the waitress was arguing with the barman (about getting another tables drinks wrong), and I had to stand there for a further 5 mins waiting my child’s ’crudities’ arrived (just cucumber, no carrot), we weren’t informed in advance and when asked we were told they’d ran out of carrots again the child’s Strawberries and Raspberries dish arrived with no raspberries when we asked we got asked oh did you ask for raspberries no we didn’t that it the dish! I’ve ordered the sticky toffee and date pudding to buy on something so hard (it wasn’t the stone but was just as hard) we’ve been served the incorrect drinks at least on 3 seperate visits Other than the above the food remains lovely food and when you get what you’ve ordered I’d highly recommend but it’s really clear there’s a big issue in the service levels since this year getting orders wrong, you get given stares all the time when your eating, when there’s an issue it’s not dealt with and instead all you get is attitude. I want to be really clear this isn’t the whole team and there are some great people there but it’s now got so bad that we won’t be returning anytime soon."

"We’d been to Chessington for the day didn’t think to book anywhere for dinner, we tried another pub down the road, to be served a drink then told about 70% of the menu was off. With a 5 year old this put a bit of a downer on our night had to find somewhere else to eat at 8pm! We came to the star and the staff all seemed so welcoming, so happy, so friendly! The food was AMAZING, atmosphere was great, my 5 year old was well entertained it made our night! Thank you so much, we’ll definitely be back on our next trip to Chessington!"

"Whilst we are reminded of the late Tina Turner of Simply the Best this is continued by our very own Tina the pub landlady. She belts out a fantastic happy and embracing service. Befitting of such a wonderful song. Her very loyal dedicated backing group of the Supremes create and enhance this ambience. Look out for the helpful Anita, caring Emma, and the stylish Maisie and Flaps in the kitchen. This came thru with the delicious food but moreover the breakfasts were sublime. Sourced with fresh produce. At one point I thought the hens laying their eggs were out in the garden area. Very Happy eggs indeed."

"Having stopped off a few months ago to have a drink we were impressed. At this time it was just under new management and no food available due to refurbishment of the kitchen. We were keen to return try it out. We did that today and we were not disappointed. A warm welcome awaited. The menu was excellent. It included substantial offerings but also a good selection of light food. Good pub grub from hot meals to sandwiches/baguettes and a fantastic Ploughman's. Good value and well presented. The pub is lovely, old fashioned, full of character and charm. The beer garden, where we sat due to the fantastic weather, is delightful. We will definitely be returning soon."

"real good price-performance ratio, since portion sizes are large, 1 fried rice is enough for 2 people and they get 12 pork balls in a part that is loaded. Delicious eating and the only thing I have to say is that if they are vegetarian beware, as I found some small bits that resemble a kind of chopper meat or chopper rolls in the mini-plants."

"Hidden little gem …so fed up going out to so called gastro pubs and getting no more than heated up ready dinners. The Hidden Kitchen was a breathe of fresh air Yes the restaurant is small and maybe to some a little cramped but it adds to uniqueness Food was very good lovely king prawns in garlic , Indian chicken wings and baked Camembert followed by fresh battered fish and chips, duck breast, chicken in bacon with dauphinois and a very lovely obviously homemade cous cous with Cajun chicken. Wine list extremely well priced and fantastic service definitely be back"

"Phoning around looking for a table for a late Sunday Lunch at short notice, it was apparent that good places were popular today. While The Black Horse was busy, they were the only ones who didn’t reply with a point blank ‘no availability’ and offered to try to accommodate us, albeit squeezing the 6 of us onto a large table normally used for four. The sign of a good front of house manager was evident as the promise of a better table if one became free had come true by the time we arrived. Roast Beef x 3 with unlimited Yorkshires gravy went down a treat and a packed and flavoursome Beef Tanglefoot pie completed the adult choices. The older and hungry children were happy with their burgers from the main menu (southern fried chicken double cheeseburger . The liquid refreshment came in the form of a superb pint of Tanglefoot and pretty good post ‘lunch’ coffees (the relaxed atmosphere and friendly service meant it was closer to early evening by the time we were ready to leave! . Great!"

"We came to have lunch on my Son’s birthday. We had visited the pub in pre COVID times and enjoyed the food and the service . Today We were the only customers on the premises so no atmosphere . We were given only a very basic menu and told that was the only one available , we ordered the food , hamburger, veggie burger and cheese panini it left a lot to be desired .. There was a man (maybe the landlord ? constantly walking back and fore past our table going outside with garden furniture ...... totally annoying and disturbing , no apology was made . These people don’t deserve to be in business ..... the whole place was SO unwelcoming ."

"I am writing this review after visiting this restaurant 4 or 5 times this year. It is very close to where I live. The food is delicious, and we have tried the pizza, salad, pasta, and risotto. My teenage son, who is a pizza expert, loves the pizza here. If you order a dish with burrata, you get a whole burrata! The staff are very polite and helpful. It can be quiet at times, but soon it will be packed every night, and I'll be complaining that we can't get a table!"

"We decided to stop by this restaurant primarily because of its charming name. Located at the end of the Main Street, this cozy pub is a quintessential English establishment. The friendly bar staff provided excellent service, and there is a convenient car park at the rear for customers. The pub is popular among rugby fans, evident from the various flags of competing countries for the World Cup displayed. It is definitely worth a visit, though beer may be a better choice for drinks compared to the wine selection. The average price per person ranges from £1 to £10."

"What a load of rubbish, extremely poor quality, Onion starters full of fat,curry very distasteful, total waste of money, took food back. All of it. Please go elsewhere. no refund at the moment burger king taste better. Just an update folks. money still not refunded as promised. Date is now 2nd of May. I do understand that this VERY RUDE man is the councilor for Fetcham. When I complained he stated that he would return my money back and stated not to to return or order again ?. that comment was a red flag to a bull. also stated that his courier could not find Cannon Grove in Fetcham, so we had to meet them at the doctors surgery. After his comments over the phone, I drove down and gave his uneatable food back in person at Fetcham Tandoori. From now on I shall continue to use the Five Rivers in Leatherhead. food a hell of lot better. My wife works in the funereal business and I am a construction manager. so we are not just riff raff as we were treated. So Fetcham Tandoori, when can you advise me when will you do the honest and right thing by returning my money of £58 and change your attitude towards people complaining. I await your response ? And your telephone attitude, What is going to change there ?."

"I picked up an order I had placed online, specifying gluten free. Unfortunately I received a phone call after collecting the order to say the gluten free doughballs I had ordered were not gluten free despite the allergen stickers on the box stating gluten free they did ring to let me know and promised a full refund, however I had eaten almost half the doughballs in this time. I am pregnant and gluten intolerant so looking forward to a night in the bathroom! Thankfully not coeliac so won’t be a hospital trip but please do better, Pizza Express. Allergens and intolerances need to be taken seriously. To anyone with an allergy I would either avoid or make triply sure that your food is what you’ve asked for, don’t go by the allergen stickers on the packaging."

"When we arrived the restaurant was chilly and the atmosphere felt quite clinical. My wife had a 2 course meal and I had a set menu each with a glass of wine (one small, one large) for £84 service £98! The food was nicely presented Italian but nothing particularly special. Everything seemed to be an expensive extra (starters are around £12-22! and vegetables (more). Over £18 for a large glass of standard Chianti. When we questionned the bill, the owner seemed quite unhelpful. Eventually he agreed to remove the additional service charge already added to the bill. Won 't be back!"

"Firstly, I’d like to say we like to support local businesses so we went for a lunch at Greenwise Cafe in Fetcham.Unfortunately we waited at least 40 minutes for our lunch (we were told it would be 20 minutes as they were busy due to the good weather.)It wasn’t cheap £15.00 for a bagel, a tuna melt, a cup of tea and a bottle of water so I was expecting a special lunch. We were disappointed. The tuna melt had far too much mayonnaise in it and the smoked salmon in the bagel wasn’t the best quality!On a good note, the cakes looked delicious even though we didn’t have one."

"I have been to the Olive Tree on a number of occasions previously and always been impressed with the service and food and found the staff very friendly. I fancied a civilised afternoon tea with friends and family and was so impressed with Ben the manager who arranged everything from start to finish and is so professional and organised. We had a private room and despite the restaurant being so busy, were looked after really well and the service was smashing, helpful and food scrumptious with a plentiful supply of hot drinks throughout. Different dietary requirements were easily managed and that was a relief as you never quite know. The table layout was perfect for us. Ben and his staff went above and beyond looking after us, comments were all positive from those that came and it made for a really special afternoon, it really was the icing on the cake."

One of our group asked to speak to the chef,and asked him if he can cook a balti,and he didn't know what one was! The beer was extortionate,so we decided to leave after one drink and go to spoonys across the road,don't rate this place at all,terrible,however I do rate the chicken shop down the road"

"Ate there last year and decided to meet again as half way point but this time different experience disappointing food and service. We arrived 30 minutes late but kept them informed as very heavy traffic. This they handled no problem. However set meal (2 courses only) disappointing value for money. Also had to ask for bread, ask for mayonnaise and more water and duck terrine came with one small thin piece of toasted ‘bread’ seriously? I had booked again next week to meet other friends as half way meeting point but am thinking of finding better place to eat. The restaurant was by no means full. Perhaps other people have had similar experience?"
