"My husband and I recently had an overnight stay here. Our evening meal was very good and well presented and the staff who looked after us were friendly and attentive. Our room was on first floor at the front of the building. First impressions, it was clean and more than adequate for a one night stay. The chocolate brownies were a nice touch (if you like them and they was a nice selection of tea and coffee available. They was a good breakfast menu to chose from. We had the full English breakfast with a choice of scrambled, fried or poached eggs. Toast was freshly made and they was cereal, fresh fruit juice and tea and coffee also readily available. "We had a fabulous lunch at Manzil today. The food was not only wonderful, but there was also plenty to take home. The wine was excellent and reasonably priced. "The storehouse is a lovely pub /restaurant on the site of amble links Northumberland. We decided to go for a meal prior to ending our holiday on 4th April. Unfortunately l wasn't allowed to eat anything solid due to an operation I'd had two weeks earlier. My sister and her son had a lovely meal, l explained to staff that l would need to have something either blended (they didn't have a blender) so l chose mashed potato, soft vegetables which l could mash with a fork and gravy. The mashed potatoes were rubbery and the vegetables were far from soft so that put paid to my meal as l couldn't eat it. The girl serving was really lovely about situation but the men cooking in the kitchen should be ashamed of themselves. On a brighter note, my sister and her son enjoyed their meals. I can't understand why a kitchen wouldn't have a blender, I'm sure Gordon ramsay has one in his kitchen. Had they had one l would have been able to choose any meal."

"Yesterday, both the food and service at The Wellwood Arms were excellent. I ordered the delicious meaty Sunday dinner, while my partner enjoyed the fish and chips, which were also very good. The staff was extremely friendly, happy, and helpful throughout our visit. We spent most of our time in the bar and had a wonderful experience. We will definitely be returning soon. - Chris Mary"

"Sadly not the best experience here. I asked for a mocktail and was met with a blank face after waiting a lot time to get served for drinks. Our table was late and our meal came out incorrect after specific requests for meat to be cooked through (pregnant woman) and had to be sent back. This meant we couldn’t eat together. No apology from the chef or management and no reflection of this in the bill. Not currently worth the hefty price tag to eat there sadly. Disappointed and won’t be back in a hurry."

"Unfortunately we waited very long for our food, which more pampered the experience. at 2.00 we were all quite hungry and we waited for our frying for three quarters of an hour eating at 2.45 that was also not where close to full this time. but when the food finally arrived, it was delicious."

"My partner and I visit whenever we can, and after the renovation, the place is still fantastic! I highly recommend the Thai curry, which is available with chicken, king prawns, or a delicious veggie option that I absolutely love! During our last visit, my partner tried the chicken and chorizo skewers and really enjoyed them. The portion sizes are generous, the food is cooked to order, and the staff is wonderful! I give it five stars! xx"

"Sadly, our evening was neither enjoyable nor tasty at this restaurant. If you plan to eat here, make sure to check ahead whether or not there will be live music in the bar area as if there will be, it renders your dinner conversation impossible. We were not told of the possibility of this singing when seated. We like live music, but this was over the top and too early in the evening. Waiter didn't seem to react or do anything about it. As to our dinner, burger was so well-done it resembled a hockey puck, so much so that it should be removed from the menu if it can't be served at least medium. Pea soup was acceptable. Newly added butternut squash risotto with buerre blanc and sage should be practiced a bit more. Squash on top was undercooked and risotto soggy accompanied by way too much butter.... Overall not a good experience."

"Would have liked more prawns in the prawn cocktail and less greenery. I have never used salt (I don’t like it) and unfortunately chef salted both my steak and chips. It should be customer’s choice. Veg with the chicken dish had a sauce which was not pleasant. Once again should be customer choice and offered in a small jug. As a consequence veg were not eaten! It would not stop me booking again and have done so for February. Overall restaurant is very good and staff very pleasant."

"We booked The Anglers Arms last minute before NYD and all of us were so incredibly impressed with everything. Everything from the service as soon as we walked through the door, the attentive staff and the gorgeous food, there’s something for everyone even on Sundays. Despite it being busy, it was still a calm atmosphere with brilliant lighting and it was immaculately clean. All 5 of us can’t wait to come back already!"
