"Our second visit was even better than our first and that was great! My wife and I visited the Puckersley with friends who live close by. It was our second visit and we remembered that the food was good. A new menu had been introduced just that evening (Friday the 13th) and I noticed a selection of “Rice Bowls” from which I chose the King Prawn option. I can’t fully remember the menu description but it was something like “Salt and Pepper Spicy King Prawns Rice Bowl” MY GOODNESS! I have eaten in some fancy places and never have I been more surprised and delighted by a dish than I was that night. It was served beautifully, the prawns were lightly battered like Tempura prawns they were on a bed of egg fried rice surrounded by a lovely sauce containing goodness knows how many different chilli peppers and beautifully diced vegetables. It was even more enhanced by some greenery (sorry, i forgot what it was) which reminded me of a lightly fried rocket which just melted in your mouth. The dish is a TRIUMPH and must not be missed. I look forward to trying the other versions of this dish on our next visit and we will certainly visit again. Our friends ordered steaks which arrived cooked exactly as they requested which is unusual in itself but not, our friends say, at the Puckersley! My wife could only look enviously at my bowl but fortunately reported that her Scampi was excellent too. The waiting staff (All girls as it happened) were very happy, smiling and extremely efficient too. DO NOT MISS THIS PUB, IT IS A GEM."

"This review is about one visit, as a vegan for breakfast. I will definitely return to try other menu options and then write a fuller review. The vegan breakfast was served on a side plate which for bigger appetites might be disappointing. small but However they’ve used really good quality, more expensive ingredients than are commonly used. I couldn’t quite finish it and you could always ask for an extra sausage or more toast. I think they could have made it look bigger by using a dinner plate. The only thing I would add is that several components of the meal had added flavours. So the mushrooms were herby, the excellent beans were delicious with a strong tomato and onion base that wouldn’t be out of place with pasta. The guacamole was good, a little thin and slightly watery texture wise. Just small details in the prep and personal preference. The service was excellent. The toilets clean. The coffee yes very well made and the oat milk was reasonable. Again, personal preference, the vegan latte could benefit from a barista oat milk. It just gives a more neutral background and richer creamier feel. The menu is extensive and they offer a kids choice, always gets an extra tick from me. This place is somewhere to feel comfortable as a group, family, cosy couple or solo. I enjoyed being here. The environment and styling is really perfect. Great atmosphere, a level of privacy between the tables and music just at the right audible setting to create a vibe and more privacy. Would I return? Yes. Could there be improvements? Yes. But I think that’s often vegan life. A lot of vegan food tries to either replicate the meat versions or can frequently overcompensate by being too flavoured instead of standing by its own value like the guac some fresh slices might have worked better. And I would add that next time I would mention some preferences on ordering and I’m sure the staff would accommodate. For example , a double shot of coffee."

"We have been here over 30 times but since lockdown ended it has gone downhill, we were told the owner has taken up fostering and let her son try to manage things.......................... Each time we have been the service has gone downhill until tonight we decided to speak out and were met with the worst customer service possible. You walk in and get shown to a table, then the a staff disappear, no drinks nothing. Fiftenn minutes later I asked of we could have a drink, I 'll get someone to take your order was the response...........................no sorry you take our order !!! Drinks come so we decide to order our food, chicken and fish so not difficult, an hour later, no food....................we order another drinks, guess what 10 minute wait, Drinks come, food comes, now the food is spot on, everything as it should be. Staff disappear again, not one person asks whether everything is ok. Staff are bust wiping tables so we wait again, food plates are taken away, again we are ignored. Fifteen minutes later no mention of a desert, my wife gets fed up and asks to see a desert menu. It 's over there !!! gestures at a faded chalk written blackboard which we can hardly read. We ait and wait and wait......................no sign of either waiter or manager, the waiter walks straight past us several times. We decide to give up on desert, no sign of anyone now so we ask for the bill, bill arrives, same person who we asked about deserts, so decide to have a word. Young manager, oh I 've been busy, here 's your bill you can pay by contactless. No mention of our deserts or anything off the bill just that he 's busy and the staff are new and untrained, sorry the same waitress has worked there since lockdown ended. No customer skills whatsoever, let me get you the desert, have a drink or I 'll knock you something off the bill. Chef appears. I go and compliment him on the food, he asks me what 's gone on so I tell him, ok well it 's hard to get staff.................. Sorry no that 's it, your quiet little restaurant has just lost two loyal customers who come in every few weeks for a nice meal out !!!! I do hope the lady owner gets to read this because if you let this carry on trust me you won 't have a business !!!!"

"it is likely unfair to compare the old school bus bbq with a typical North American BBQ community, but it would also be unfair to give old school bus bbq 5 stars for its food when I visit from the many I have made over 4 decades in us bbq houses, how good it can be! that is, I say that the brisket at the old school bus bbq was at least on a place with brisket, which I enjoyed in bbq houses above the atlantic. but really everything we ordered at our recent visit (for example because we were greedy) was a real tasty bite, and our empty teller at the end of the evening were certificate for this testimonies. pork, brisket, chicken wing, hot dogs, burger, wobbles, mais on the cob, nachos, halloumi finger, fries, etc. the angus brisket sandwich was the star of the show! the ambiente is fun; what I call real rustic american bbq. great for adults and children. the perfect menu for the event. the bar was well equipped and the table service exceptional. all server were welcoming and friendly and very courteous. our only complaint was the cold. it was a cold night and we came for an early setting so that despite the room completely enclosed, the heating did not have enough time to heat it to a temperature where they shed their coat. but it was not about feeling the cold. the problem was that eating too fast cooled, and american bbq is best eaten food hot. but this is a special and very unique place. Too bad it is no longer so in the united kingdom. I really recommend visiting the old school bbq bus. great for adult. great for families. it was great. Many thanks for treating us such a great evening. we will come back in any case; with friends and next time without our grandchildren, so we can stay too late for a few more drinks and catch the live music!"
