"Haven’t been here in years and won’t go again! When we arrived the pub was quiet apart from a large group of people who were obviously going to be having a meal. We ordered our food, and the starters came fairly quickly. When our plates were being cleared the girl said “there is going to be a delay on your mains because we’ve got a large party in”. Not good. Why weren’t we told before we ordered? We might have chosen to go elsewhere. When the mains did eventually arrive I had a pile of chips on my plate which were revolting. They were soggy and like a pile of mush. Totally inedible. Around 8 pieces of scampi and a very boring salad. All our chips were the same. When our plates were collected I told the girl that the chips were inedible. She did offer to get me some more but by that time I had eaten the scampi and salad. I asked her to tell the chef that the chips were very poor. We asked for the bill and waited ages for it. When it came we asked for the card machine but that wasn’t forthcoming either so I eventually had to go to the bar to pay. The girl behind the bar asked whether everything had been ok with the meal and I said not. She didn’t know what to say. Nobody at any point offered to reduce the bill or make things right in any other way. Very poor. Won’t be back."

Visiting regularly since early 2017 when accidentally discovered this lovely pub whilst walking. Always enjoyed the food (rarely order any main apart from the cheese&onion pie! Had it twice again last week! . Menu has decreased in size since pre-Covid (but same with so many others . Staff always friendly, both on phone and in person. Good drinks range. Ver carta

We stumbled across this place after a stroll along the canal in Diggle. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. It’s nice that they do smaller portions of pub favourites, but it was almost a full size and was well cooked. My husband had the lamb and mint pudding which he said was delicious. We will definitely call again next time we are around this area.

Came for lunch with my family, to start with the bar staff was just stood there and seemed a little slow. We sat down after asking for a table for food and was then asked if we wanted a menu. Food ordered, after around 45 mins wait our food came which was the wrong food, it then cook then another 30 minutes to produce basic baguette and chips. The food then came out cold, no meneber of staff wanted to come and ask if the food was ok clearly knew it was not. 6 times they walked passed and looked over after we had finished and was arguing who was going to come over to clear our table as let left the majority of food. There no was apology and was rushed out after we had paid! Will not be going...

"Our second visit was even better than our first and that was great! My wife and I visited the Puckersley with friends who live close by. It was our second visit and we remembered that the food was good. A new menu had been introduced just that evening (Friday the 13th) and I noticed a selection of “Rice Bowls” from which I chose the King Prawn option. I can’t fully remember the menu description but it was something like “Salt and Pepper Spicy King Prawns Rice Bowl” MY GOODNESS! I have eaten in some fancy places and never have I been more surprised and delighted by a dish than I was that night. It was served beautifully, the prawns were lightly battered like Tempura prawns they were on a bed of egg fried rice surrounded by a lovely sauce containing goodness knows how many different chilli peppers and beautifully diced vegetables. It was even more enhanced by some greenery (sorry, i forgot what it was) which reminded me of a lightly fried rocket which just melted in your mouth. The dish is a TRIUMPH and must not be missed. I look forward to trying the other versions of this dish on our next visit and we will certainly visit again. Our friends ordered steaks which arrived cooked exactly as they requested which is unusual in itself but not, our friends say, at the Puckersley! My wife could only look enviously at my bowl but fortunately reported that her Scampi was excellent too. The waiting staff (All girls as it happened) were very happy, smiling and extremely efficient too. DO NOT MISS THIS PUB, IT IS A GEM."
