"If you are in Pitigliano and want a lunch break that is less challenging than you could do in a traditional restaurant, delights of ale and helga is the place for you. In one of the main streets of the ancient historical village, ale and helga opened this place after that already for years they had settled here with their workshop of gastronomic delicacies, from the superb compounds of fruit to accompany their excellent matured sheep to the many and different sauces with which to prepare first dishes or crostini. the bistro where to eat seated is small, but there is the possibility to sit also outdoors, where the small tables arranged here and there until on the stairs of one of the narrow alleys to the local place already cheerful with their different colors (we opted for this option, accomplice the favorable weather. ) customers, along with the menu, are immediately given a token to choose a song from the juke box that plays from the inside of the room and this original entertainment is collected by all the adventors with obvious pleasure, a return to the past that certainly does not sound with the surrounding setting, indeed! We opted for a sliced cutter, one of cheeses (accompanied by their divine fruit compounds, one on all: the pear and cinnamon) and olive groves, also delicious that. all exquisite, including the glass of wine with which we accompanied him. Inevitable, at the end of the meal, move into their adjacent shop and make inception of products to be brought home"

"I should start by saying we've been disappointed with the food (and the service) here in the past rating it as OK but nothing special. However, on a cold, wet Sunday in mid winter, having secured a parking spot right outside the door, not wanting...to walk far and Il Grillo being closed, we spotted the magic words cinghiale agrodolce written on the blackboard so decided to give it another try. And we were so pleased we did. It's simple inside and a bit lacking in character but the host and the waitress were welcoming beyond words. The menu is much the same as menus elsewhere in southern Tuscany but we were very impressed by the quality and quantity. The Euros 10 (grande) plate of mixed meats, cheeses, crostini and vegetables in olive oil was outstanding there is no other word for it and made even more agreeable by the accompaniment of both honey and marmalata, an essential in my book to go with aged pecorino. I really can't remember the last time I ate a plate like this that was so generous (in many places portions can be meager), so varied and of such good quality. For secondi I had the wild boar in sweet and sour that arrived decorated with saffron threads. Again, the portion was enormous, more than enough for two or more. My husband had the rabbit, which was perfectly OK but nothing out of the ordinary. This, a mixed salad, two coffees and a bottle of Il Pitiglio red set us back Euros 54.90, a sum we both agreed was very good value. We now have bit of a dilemma as we visit Pitigliano regularly and usually choose between two old favourites for lunch. Now we have a third, which will be a good alternative especially when we can eat outside at the pretty tables overlooking the lovely square."
