"My husband and I dine here often, but after dining there last night. I don't think we will be back. We had a booking for 7.45pm and we arrived a little early. Our table wasn't ready, so we were moved to another table that was close to the doors to the terrace... it wasn't the warmest of places to sit people, especially when that door was constantly in motion. When we ordered our food, we were told that you had no roasts left... so we ordered the salmon and the duck... after a short while, the waitress told us that the kitchen had also run out of those!! We settled for cheese burger and fish and chips in the end, as this was pretty much our only choice left on the Sunday menu! However, when it arrived, the fish was really greasy, the chips inedible as they looked like they'd been cooked in dirty fat and for far too long, and the burger was really dry. It's a real shame. We don't usually mind paying a bit more as the food there has always been lovely, but we paid £66 for 2 meals, and we didn't eat most of the main. The only good thing about it was the larder plate, which we shared as a starter. I wish I'd taken photos of the food to show how bad it was. We left not long after our food arrived. When I paid for the bill at the bar. I wasn't asked if everything was OK with the food. Otherwise, I might have had this conversation with the staff. My only advice to tourists is to try other places. The Quay Inn does quality food and for a reasonable price. You can always find space to sit and eat or just have a drink. It's the lure of the quay that makes the Granary so busy!"

"We stopped for ice cream for our 4 year old after an amazing visit to Durdle Door What a MISTAKE, the old woman at the ice cream counter which faces the street was inexcusably racist. She clearly had an attitude problem in itself as she didn 't really bother to serve the white family in front of us pleasantly more a series of grunts but at least she acknowledged them and served them. We approached the counter and she began shaking furiously and gave us some of the dirtiest looks, she then just looked away as if to dismiss us, not even What can I get you or what would you like? NOTHING. In my shock I said clearly you don 't want to serve us so we won 't be wasting our money here but on reflection I 'm furious. In this day and age there is no reason for hating someone and being rude to someone based on the colour of their skin. I then had to explain to my innocent and kind child why we had to walk away from the ice cream shop without his ice cream. This treatment and behaviour was disgusting and this woman should not work in a tourist industry if she is so unwelcoming of all people. Luckily for us the lady in the ice cream kiosk across the way was so kind and served us politely and with warm words and a smile. Shame on you. Ruined an otherwise perfect day in the area, wouldn 't recommend the ice cream or the attached restaurant saltwater grill or whatever it 's called. AVOID AVOID AVOID Stamp out hate and racism by hitting vulgar nasty people where it hurts the most their business!! don 't stand for it EVER."

"We visited the Swanage Railway, and on returning to the Town fancied a small afternoon snack and a cuppa. Beavers Restaurant looked ideal. The first point to make is that as far as we are concerned this is a Cafe, not a Restaurant, despite the...name. My missus selected a ham salad, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I selected a tuna mayonnaise sandwich. I also asked for some onion and tomato on the sandwich. It was perfectly ok, although the bread was the bland sliced wholemeal, the factory stuff that you buy in a supermarket, rather than a bakers. There was no side salad or crisps like many cafes garnish sandwiches with. For drinks a pot of tea and a can of of diet 7 Up were selected. We then asked for the bill. At a smidgen under £20 I took a closer look. £5.95 for the salad, and £1.99 for the tea was fair enough. But £2.75 for a can of diet lemonade that is no more than 40p in a supermarket multi pack. What a rip off. But It got worse. We had been charged £8.95 for the tuna sandwich. I queried this, as it was only £5.95 on the menu. It was confirmed as being correct, as the extras, namely a bit of tomato and a bit of onion were charged at £1.50 each! To be fair, it has to be said that the price of these 'extras ' is shown on the menu, but that does not excuse the sheer greed of this establishment in charging £3 to add a few bits of tomato and onion to a sandwich. I feel fortunate that I didn 't ask for a slice of cheese to be added as well I would probably have had to re mortgage the house!"
