"We went in to eat dinner based on other reviews. It was nothing special. I don’t normally review foreign restaurants because our expectations on food quality and taste aren’t always the same. In this case I’m making an exception. The service was very slow. My husband ordered pork chops and I ordered a burger. He got a side dish of vegetables when my meal arrived. We waited to see if his chops were forthcoming and finally asked about them after a few minutes. 10 minutes later a plate showed up with ribs on it. He did say it was a decent taste even though still not the right dish. My burger had a lot of gristle in it. All in all, a disappointment. We’ve been in Italy for over a month and this was by far one of the worst meals."

"Al Casale is fairly remote being about 15 kilometres inland from Marina di Ragusa but definitely worth seeking out if you are in area. As part of a group of 19 staying in the nearby Villa Zinna we had booked Al Casale for dinner. A fabulous courtyard setting under the olive trees for the most amazing meal. Starting at 20:30 we were treated to course after course of Sicilian cuisine for two and half hours. We lost count of the number of dishes but it must have been about 12 served over 8 courses. By half way through most of us were full and few managed to reach the end of the gastronomic tour of Sicily. Lots of veggie dishes and as well as lamb, pork and beef dishes, but no fish as is common in most Agritourismo restaurants that showcase farm produce. Unlimited decanters of local white and red wine and bottled water was provided throughout the meal. And the most amazing thing of all? The cost for everything was only €20 per person! Truly deserving of its five star rating from most reviewers. Top Tips Our two ‘ veggies’ and one celiac were fully catered for (pre-booking essential) with alternatives being offered to all meat dishes. Little English spoken by the family who run the restaurant so it was helpful that we had some Italian speakers in our party to help know what the dishes were. Pre-booking for large parties essential for large parties and probably for everyone else as well given food is specially prepared."

STRACONSIGLIATO!"

"Honestly, I don’t understand a place that has soccer, games and children’s things at the entrance, which shows in the menu on the internet sandwiches and cutters and then propinates you French music on the pool, a corn that offers fine dishes of fresh fish, and an attempt of gourmet fashion that contrasts with how much read on the site, with the entrance and in general, with what had been expressed. I wish but I can’t and the general impression that it gets... a refined poolside room with music cultured in the background can not have that name, that entrance, the fake grass on the ground and 2 only people to serve at the tables. Incidentally, the bread, received at the end of the dinner, poor quality, better serve it first, in conjunction with the drinks... and always ask how it goes, after it has served the skin of a canestrate cheese put subsurface, well 2 slices, sounds like a teasing. Surprising then the cold and piccato leave of the boriosissimo maitre that would do better by apologize...Compliments"

"DAT meat! I mean, I 've been living near Ragusa for some time. Near Ragusa, in a coastal town. I tipically eat fish... very often! So, when I get bored, I 'd like some good, old fashioned t-bone/steak/fiorentina/tomahawk/whatevs to entertain my tastebuds, for some change. Unfortunately, Ragusa is a DISASTER from this point of view. Well, except... The owner, Simone, is simply great, and will introduce you to each course. He has quite a wide variety of meats. We 've tried the fiorentina, chianina, Nebrodi 's black piglet and the irish angus. All four were very good, the angus and the piglet were GREAT! We had also a maldafrica red from COS (a perfect match), some very good appetizers (a choice of local cheeses and sausages), and a cannolo for dessert that was tear-dropping good! The place has also some external space with a small amusement park for the children. There you can of course have a good walk after/during the meal, since it 's some very large garden. Plenty of space for parking. To sum it up: if you go to Ragusa, you can 't miss it. I ended up going there on weekly basis!"

"Simply, this is a cheese restaurant. I am not into aged cheeses, however, my wife is. We ordered two cheese plates, one fresh and one aged. Both were accompanied by cured meats and grilled veggies as well as some sauces. I thought the ricotta was the best I've had, and I've lived in Brooklyn, NY for almost 20 years. The cured meats, though not made in house, were locally sourced and delicious. All the cheeses are made in house. My wife assured me the aged cheeses were all excellent. This restaurant is a must eat at when in Ragusa!"

"It took them about one hour to serve our starters. The service was very slow. It is a family run place, and there were many people ordering around the same time. So it's understandable, but we were very hungry, so the wait was long. They serve a mini appetizer bread with sun-dried tomatoes. They brought me gluten-free bread. Our starter was octopus on top of beans with some lemon shavings. It was a unique dish and tasty. I had a gluten-free vongole, which was really good, but my partner was not very satisfied with his rabit pasta. The atmosphere is very quiet. There were mainly couples but also a few families. Other dishes around us looked good, and I think they have a good selection of wines. But it was a shame as it was really slow service and perhaps the not friendliest either."

"I’m not sure where to begin. The location is one of the strangest I’ve ever encountered, can’t decide if it’s an old church or community centre with a very dirty, unkempt exterior in what seems to be a random housing estate. Walked into an almost bare room with a few tables being used and lots of chairs stacked up to the side, along with a random piano. Not greeted by anyone for a few minutes then taken outside. Table setting was nice, but next to a large group (who kept lighting up cigarettes- nice) They didn’t have the advertised wine we wanted so offered an alternative(which was more expensive than the one we originally asked for). The food was distinctly average I’m afraid, lazy beef tartare, barely any seasoning with large chunks of beef, rather than the more refined smaller cuts with other ingredients, obviously good quality meat, but poorly executed. 120 euro T bone that we cooked ourselves, had little flavour and because the meat was cold to begin with(would have expected room temp) it had to be over cooked to warm it through (cold rare meat is unpleasant), which was less than ideal.. the point of having good meat is not to turn it into shoe leather. The accompanying mushrooms were delightful however. The waiter was pleasant and helpful. And annoyingly we did not receive the Fork discount advertised, so was overly expensive as well as disappointing."

"We just came back from this restaurant and let me tell you this was incredible and probably the best food we had so far on our roadtrip in Sicily. The service is excellent. Very attentive staff and accommodating. Despite not having reservation we were seated straight away outside. The seating arranged in a way that you feel very comfortable and tables are spaced nicely, so you feel very private. Food is absolutely excellent. We were served bread with their selected olive oil which tasted amazing. For antipasti we had gamberri Rosso (served raw) drizzled with olive oil and sea salt grilled octopus. Both of these dishes were perfect and octopus was probably the best octopus we had ever. Not chewy at all, perfectly charred. We only had primi and no secondi but our pasta with lobster Ragu and parsley sauce left us in awe! Perfectly al dente, creamy heavenly sauce and parsley just added this dish another dimension. Tiramisu was absolutely amazing too. As for the price versus quality I think it deserves 10 stars. I cannot recommend you enough this restaurant and if you just arrived in Ragusa and want your first dinner here to make a lasting impression please go to Camuri!"

"This cafe is on a slope just in front of the Duomo Church. It’s understated and the only thing that drew us in was its convenience after a long drive. The staff were friendly and unassuming. We found once we ordered, the food and drinks...came very quickly. We had the ham and mushroom pizza and the bolognaise arancini. Both were fantastic, the best we have had so far in Italy. We had many great meals in Rome, Syracuse and Positano, but this quaint little cafe was a standout. The arancini has a lot of flavour, it was crunchy, had a great balance between the meat sauce and the rice. I loved the peas in the middle. My kids had the ham and cheese arancini which they said was delicious. The pizza was amazing, I can’t tell you why it was so good, the crust was perfect but there was something that just made you keep wanting to eat this pizza more and more. We weren’t even that hungry but after this meal I just wanted another pizza. We also ordered the Ragusa focaccia which tasted very much like lasagna only the crust was kinda dry, and there wasn’t enough meat or cheese sauce. The prawn and tuna salad was ok, it was smothered in their red sauce. It was very much like a prawn cocktail (using defrosted frozen prawns) with canned tuna. Both were average. We all had drinks (wine, beer and soft drinks for 5 people) and a bowl of fries. Plus the 3 kids also had ice cream. The bill came to less than 50 Euros. Very reasonable."

"After looking at the menu and seeing that they offer Spaghetti with Palmodoro Sauce, something that's a bit of a challenge to find, we decided to try the restaurant. Pasta was fine and the sauce was not bad. The pizza was burnt on the bottom, the sauce was too thick and sweet, and the cheese was tasteless. Bad choice, with so many other restaurants close by. I don't recommend."

"We had the 2 plates and the Mozzarella di bufala with grilled veg. The combination la on the plates were amazing and we accompanied it with a bottle of Nero d’Avola. The hostess was very friendly and although she was not comfortable with dogs, she welcomed us and our 4-legged guy without any problems. We finished with the Tiramisu and a Pistachio Cannolo. Delicious! It was really a cheese experience and definitely a place to find out if you are in Ibla. Too good!"

"Last night with friends we were in this place, a real disaster. Cold welcome, poor service and waiters who bothered our demands. After booking what arrived did not match what was written on the menu and what was required. The dishes with Hamburger and raw arrived meat were brought back two, three times. In a dish was planned the fondue of Ragusana provola but in its place came a spread cheese type Philadelphia. Managers have not even had the kindness to apply a discount, I feel to recommend them to change work."

"While dining roadside is part of the European experience, having a tastefully prepared and artistically presented meal in the quite of a repurposed convent garden increased the pleasure of dining at Cenobio where we had one of the best meals of our two weeks in Sicily."
