"With almost certainly one of the best views from any restaurant for miles and miles, this place has the staff, food quality and reasonable pricing to match. I’ve been coming here for ages (as a local) and have seen it change over the years but the current team really are awesome. Whether it’s a morning brew, a family meal or sundown beers with friends, this place caters for it all and does it well. It has a lovely inclusive family atmosphere and the staff really are the friendliest around. The pizzas are restaurant quality for takeaway prices and the selection is really good. The starters are lovely too (though I must admit I’ve only ever ordered them once because the pizzas are so filling). All-in-all this is a no brained for a really good pizza in an outstanding location. I’d 100% recommend this place to absolutely anyone. One of the best filey has to offer. Love it."

"We visited this cafe for lunch, and were so pleased we returned for a breakfast. Boasting a 4.5 trip advisor rating we entered a very busy cafe to be met with a very curt lady .We ordered teas with the steak pie and veg dinners. Excellent, a plate of mash, carrots, and cabbage surrounded the delicious homemade steak pie with piping hot gravy. Whilst we were there, I witness real customer service in action. The curt lady took the time to help dress an elderly customer in her coat and scarf, presented her walking frame and accompanied her to the door, with a cheery goodbye. We signed off the holiday with a supreme cooked breakfast which my wife could not finish. Whilst the produce quality of sausage/bread was economy standard, the bacon, egg, beans, mushrooms and black pudding were delicious. The price ...WOW £7 odd for each meal (teas extra). The cutlery, tables etc were clean the decor was pleasant...and a free toilet. If you re working to a budget, this is a must visit. We regularly eat out and often get overcharged for very average food. This is wholesome and you won t leave hungry/disappointed/overcharged. Some reviewers have taken a dim view of the owners curt customer skills...personally I want a good meal and not too fussy about the small talk!"

"The restaurant was overpriced and we ended up leaving shortly after checking in. We paid £160 for one night in a 4 poster bed in a separate building from the main hotel. The room did not match the pictures advertised online, as the 4 poster bed was actually just a double bed with a large bed frame and no drapes or bed spread. The room was basic and not comfortable considering the high price we paid. The furniture was shabby, the room had a strange odor, and we were very disappointed overall. We decided to leave and explained our reasons at check out, but were told that the owners were out of the country and our comments would be passed along. No effort was made to exchange rooms or offer any sort of reimbursement. There are better hotels available for a lower price and higher quality. The only positive aspect was the location."

"We stopped for two nights. We ate in the pub on both nights. We had a fantastic stay, this is a great, cosy, traditional pub in the beauty of Yorkshire. The room had everything you need, it wasn't the most modern room but no complaints. I like the little touches like a full-sized mug and the Decaff coffee bags. The first night the heating was on a little too much, it's on a thermostat and was a little warm but it wasn't too bad, as it was so cold outside. Some fellow guests we met one evening said their bed was rock hard, but, we had no complaints, my wife said it was a little lumpy on her side but I really didn't have any issues. The pub has plenty of parking around the back; where you can see they have some Glamping Pods. It is currently undergoing renovations in the room between the main bar and the dining area, which, had recently been painted and looked very nice. Allround, the pub was in a great location to be far enough out of Whitby but close enough, it only took 25mins to drive in. There is nothing around the pub, we walked to Danby the first evening but that hasn't not much in it either. However, it is perfect for walkers and those with dogs, we use it just as a base so we didn't mind and it was nice to be out in the countryside. We ate twice, both nights. Friday was busier in the pub, we did book but no need, as they had plenty of tables. We sat in the background for dinner and breakfast on both days. On the first night, I ordered off the specials board; to start I had the Bacon and Spring Onion Quiche which was lovely and for mains the venison casserole. My wife ordered the hummus bruschetta and steak and ale pie. On the second night, we just got main, both of us ordered off the specials board again, my wife got the sun-blushed tomato and brie past and I got a fantastic chicken rogan josh curry, served with a homemade popadom, naan and mango chutney, can't fault it. We really, really enjoyed the food."

"First impressions count so passing this business a couple of hours before it opened I was amazed to see through the side windows old chips under one table, a couple of days later a half eaten ham sandwich under a table . Hygiene and cleanliness is paramount in any establishment serving food. It was quite clear that not only had the floor not been swept properly on at least two occasions but had not been mopped either. So my intention to visit for a meal was quickly cancelled."

"We visited this restaurant twice during our holiday and were very impressed with the great food at reasonable prices. There was plenty of choice on the menu and specials board. The service was quick and friendly. The first time, I tried the curry from the specials board which came with half chips and half rice, both portions were generous and there was plenty of curry. My friend ordered the chicken parmesan with chips, which was a very large portion and delicious. The second time, I had the chicken and chorizo pie with potatoes and vegetables, it was full of large chunks of chicken and very tasty. My friend had the beef goulash with dumplings which she enjoyed. The portions were so filling that we didn't have room for dessert. There were two ales on the bar, Old Peculier seemed to be the regular beer and it was just what I was looking for."

"We were struggling to get anywhere to eat in Scarborough- really busy, so came across Cactus and gave it a go. It has previously been mainly a take away but has refurbished- really smart, clean and comfy and has a bar with seating and...restaurant seating. Food was great- I’m coeliac and had the chicken/bacon salad and it was really tasty no contamination so was fine. Kids had pizza/burgers all good. Really high quality food at a brilliant price we’d paid double the cost for a family meal at a pub the night before which wasn’t a patch. Wine was just under a tenner a bottle way cheaper than other places. Kids had choc fudge cake for pudding and we were given some delicious jerk chicken wings to try. Staff were excellent- friendly, relaxed and helpful. Great place. It’s compact but a real find."

"The restaurant exceeded all my expectations and more. It is set in a stunning landscape, and from the restaurant, there is a beautiful view of the courtyard, which is truly idyllic. The service was excellent; we were seated promptly and attended to efficiently without feeling rushed. Our meals were served in a timely manner. The food was incredible—I couldn't get enough of it! Unfortunately, I was too full to try the sticky toffee pudding, which was disappointing! Everything was well presented, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious. I’m looking forward to enjoying lunch here again and also spending time in the bistro area, which looks so warm and cozy with its inviting fireplace."

"Absolute filth, the place need a deep deep clean. I've worked in hospitality for years and my husband is a chef, it always baffles me when the tables and chairs are dirty. What the kitchen must be like if the staff can't clean a chair. Food wasn't great. Spent £30 and I think I could have got better at a bacon buttie van in a lay-by. And 1 toilet for men and women, how is this ok?? I don't want take my daughter to toilet after a man has had his stinking in there. Cakes looked amazing if this helps, although we didn't buy one and won't return"

"After looking on the reviews and photos overall they was positive, we tried it out and wasn't disappointed, we had booked in for 5 o'clock and we was the only one's in,hence atmosphere stars. "First of all, the ambiance is incredible. The restaurant looks stunning, reminiscent of a cozy Christmas lodge, like something you'd see at the North Pole, yet it has so much more. The unique aesthetic and the outstanding Christmas decorations left me in awe. I was overwhelmed with how beautiful everything was, and it truly put me in the Christmas spirit. The staff were amazing—friendly, kind, and always smiling. I felt so welcomed and comfortable there; it was a safe and peaceful place, especially comforting for someone like me who has autism and anxiety. Just a week ago, I visited knowing I would be alone for Christmas and not planning to cook my own Christmas dinner, which is something I'm not very good at. I decided to treat myself with their Christmas menu, and it was absolutely delicious. From the moment I walked in and sat down, the staff made me feel right at home. The music playing added to the festive vibe, and the warm decorations around me made it feel just like a Christmas lodge. The lovely staff took my order, and I was excited for what was to come. For the starter, I had fresh meat that you could tell was sourced from a proper butcher. The sausage and bacon were delicious, especially the generous pigs in blankets. Then came the main course—a burger that was simply wow! I was so full after that meal, and it tastes heavenly. The food was comforting, delicious, and home-cooked to perfection. I enjoyed every bite and managed to finish it all. For dessert, I would have loved a scoop of ice cream alongside my sweet treat, rather than having to buy it separately, but that’s a minor detail. Overall, I’ve never felt so satisfied after a meal. This was hands down the best Christmas menu I’ve ever had at a restaurant, and it's now my favorite place in Scarborough. You all did an incredible job this year! The customer service, decorations, and the Christmas menu were all exceptional. Hats off to you! I was so engrossed in enjoying the moment that I didn’t even think to take a photo to share. Sometimes, it's nice just to enjoy the experience without the distraction of snapping pictures. Lastly, I want to mention the price—it was an amazing value for three courses, well worth it. Thank you so much for everything, and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! "I visited this restaurant today with friends, craving a hot drink and a sandwich, and I was not disappointed! The two women who served us, who I believe were sisters, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The crab sandwiches were delicious, the cake and scones were heavenly, and the tea was a good strong Yorkshire blend. There was also a great variety of coffees available, with one of the waitresses happy to share her knowledge about them. Overall, it was a perfect experience!"

"We had a fantastic experience at this vegan restaurant near the seafront. Even without a booking, we were able to enjoy the delicious vegan set menu for two people. The food was super tasty and there were plenty of other vegan options available outside of the set menu. The staff was lovely and provided quick service. Just a heads up, this restaurant is cash only so make sure you're prepared or stop by the nearby Coop for an ATM. Highly recommend!"

"We stumbled upon this inviting restaurant one evening and decided to book a table for tapas to celebrate my husband's birthday.
