"My mother and I went to this restaurant yesterday for a cocktail afternoon tea using a voucher from Wowcher. We had some difficulty booking as the phones were always busy, and when I finally got through, I had to make two phone calls to secure a reservation as they were extremely busy. In the rush, I forgot to mention our dietary requirements, which seemed to be an issue with the staff member, who I assumed was the manager, and who served us throughout the meal. We requested our afternoon tea to be pork-free for cultural reasons, and she mentioned that the food had already been prepared that morning and we should have informed her when booking so that alternatives could be arranged. She did replace the sausage rolls with extra prawn toast from another order, but we did not receive a replacement for the ham sandwiches. I was unsure why another sandwich couldn't have been made on the spot, as it would have been a simple order. We were also the only customers there at 1:30 pm on a Saturday. Our afternoon tea included egg, tuna sweetcorn, and coronation chicken sandwiches, prawn toasts, scones, jam, cream, mini strawberry milkshake, mini Eton mess, mini vanilla slice, mini eclair, and mini profiterole. It did not resemble the image on the Wowcher website. The cocktail provided was mango, gin, and lemonade, but I could not taste any gin. They only offered tea and coffee, so I settled for tap water since I do not drink them, and they were not refillable. I have never had issues getting hot chocolate as part of afternoon tea at other places. I thought the food was average, but nothing appeared to be homemade as I would have expected, such as scones and pastries. There was also not enough jam and cream for two people. We were each given two mini ice cream cones, which was a nice touch, and we could choose the flavors from a limited selection, so we both chose toffee and chocolate. I felt like using the voucher and requesting changes for dietary reasons made us feel like a burden, and this was reflected in the staff member's behavior. I do not think it is worth going back there, as I have had better afternoon tea at the neighboring restaurant."

"I can se there are many excellent reviews on here about this cafe but we wont be eating here again. We ate here yesterday and although the food was enjoyable I would like to warn customers about the lack of compliance with Covid Rules and basic health and hygiene . The waiting on and kitchen staff failed to wear face masks. Waiting staff served at tables with no face covering at all and we could see that kitchen staff wore either no mask or wore it puled down under the chin leaving nose and mouth uncovered. Most customers failed to wear a mask when moving around the cafe to use the rest room or to go up to the counter to pay. Normally staff in restaurants, pubs and cafes would remind customers to use a mask in these situations but of course this isn't going to happen when the staff themselves aren't wearing them. A spray cleaner was used to clean our table before we were seated but we had to ask for the chairs to be wiped as they had been left with crumbs from an earlier customer. I later saw the waitress cleaning dirty tables outside without using any antibac spray. Probably the worst thing we witnessed during our visit was the waitress dropping some biscuits on the dirty floor and then picking them up and placing them back on the counter. When she thought no-one was watching she then placed them in the container along with the other biscuits for use when she served a hot tea or coffee to the next unsuspecting customer. The biscuits were individually wrapped but I certainly wouldn't want to be served with one after it had been on the dirty floor!"
