"we celebrated our jubilee with wilderness and had the most fantastic evening. the tasting menu and the accompanying wine flight were raised, and also very good value. I do not eat meat, but this food requirement was fulfilled without fuss and without compromise at the meal. the service was in front of place and we really felt like we had been pampered out on our famous evening!"

"We went for a evening meal for the first time without the kids in quite a while. Ideal for couples and small parties groups etc. Real authentic music and décor including the menu. There were so many items we liked from the cold and hot choices, we had one of the sharer mezes one hot one cold Slightly greedy but it's meant we got to try pretty much everything. All were really well made, tasty and by the time we finished we were worried we might not be space for the mains. My partner had a lamb kebab I had the kleftico Kleftico was cooked to perfection and just came straight of the bone. I was lucky enough that when my partner became full so I got to try the lamb donor as well which were beautiful cuts of meat. We shared a pudding which included the Turkish delight Not the Fry's chocolate stuff The real Turkish delight Beautiful cubes of Heaven! Toilets were clean all the staff were friendly I think this is very much a family business of which they came out to greet the customers We will definitely be back"

"Myself and OP went into cafe max. Sat down for a while (we had already looked at the menu and decided what we wanted . Looking around to see where the workers were because we were waiting to be served after waiting for a good while and no one had come over, yet they saw us. One was just stood around talking to someone and the other was sat with someone (who looked like to be a friend. Im not going to assume that because i’m not sure 100% . She finally got up after about 5 or so more minutes of acknowledging we were there, then finally served us. Bear in mind my family and i used to be a very regular customer there a few years back, until someone else took it over and they were just rude, even slower service (not that the others were even slow they were good. and we were so regular they already knew our orders each time which made the experience and even better (i’m not expecting it from them, that’s not what i’m saying though, and we also don’t go their very much anymore . Ever since it’s gone a bit downhill. I would just expect a bit better as i myself work in an environment where customer service is important. And theirs in cafe max could be improved"

"Go for the food but leave the stay out. The food was fantastic, our group had everything from Pizza, chicken prawn curry there wasn’t a bad word said ! Everybody enjoy what they ordered. The rooms on the other hand…. Nothing like what you see on the internet. Very drab !!! Room 28 I was personally given it was a bit like why I’d imagine a hostel to be like ? Walls all marked. Looked to be someone’s old bed, with probably the worst mattress I’ve ever been on ! Was a little chilly none of us could workout the heaters ? Insects from the window being left open by the last person everywhere as the tree outside is touching. Has a lovely big telly but you’d have to sit on the floor to watch it by the way it’s plonked on the side not facing the bed."

"We made a last minute booking for 5 people on a Saturday night. We'd never been before but wanted to take my elderly in-laws somewhere for dinner while they were staying in the area. The food was fantastic but what really stood out was just how caring and wonderful the staff here are. They went out of their way to accommodate my elderly father in law who has poor mobility. They were so friendly and good humoured about it that my mother in law was reduced to tears as we left!"

"friendly pub with many comfortable seats. plastered “Profi Pub” vibe and the pizzas on Friday and Saturday night are incredible. they do vegan (then gott because wotton is short on good vegan food) and they are absolutely shy. dog-friendly with a massive glass fiber girilla in the beer garden. what is not to love?"

"Popped in for a late ish lunch on a Friday afternoon. Not much on menu that was suitable for someone who's intolerant to gluten, could see no alternative options displayed and there were no jacket potatoes left just after 1.30pm all of which seemed surprisingly disappointing compared to other similar places I've been. Didn't feel very welcomed and almost like we were a bit of an inconvenience even though the place didn't shut for hours. I'm also pretty sure that the upset tummy I developed 3 hours later was down to what I ate or drink there. The decaff coffee tasted and looked awful like hot water had been poured through a filter paper of already used coffee grounds to eek it out. We were on a tight schedule so didnt feel inclined to wait for a replacement and I just put up with it, which I'm now regretting. The food was simple and nice enough but something was definitely off. Husband enjoyed his sandwich and was fine. Like to support local businesses, especially as times are hard, but won't be returning, sadly."

"My wife and I had dinner booked here as part of our honeymoon. We were staying in Edge and as this was the only pub within reasonable walking distance we had it booked so we could walk down and have a couple of drinks and something to eat. When booking we were told as we had a dog we couldn’t sit inside but there was seating outside with umbrellas. Fine by us! It had been raining on and off throughout the day and on arrival we saw that none of the umbrellas had been put up so the tables and chairs were wet from the rain. When I went in I told them we’d arrived for our booking and asked where we would be seated. All I was told was that it would have to be outside as we had a dog. I went back outside to have a look around the decking area to see if anywhere was suitable. None of the umbrellas had been put up so it was all wet. I went back in and to clarify I asked if they had anywhere outside that we could sit that was covered. I was told that they have the umbrellas and there’s a bit of cover under a tree. To which I responded that all the tables were wet as none of the umbrellas had been put up. The response I received was “well, to be honest, we didn’t think you’d come”.Edge is an isolated little village, this is the only pub within reasonable walking distance and the booking had been made weeks in advance. Yet we were made to feel like it was our fault for turning up to our booking!At no point did anyone offer to clear and dry a table, or put an umbrella up. I can’t speak for the quality of the food but don’t expect any sort of care, attention or service!!"

"Unfortunately really terrible experience today. Went with my two sons and our family dog. My youngest fell off the playground and was screaming. Naturally I went to him to pick him up and comfort him. The waitress came over telling me off shouting how dogs aren't allowed and to get off. I had to then take her off away from my crying child as she continued to lecture me. We don't have a lot opportunity to go out as it's costly and genuinely felt like just going home and leaving the food the kids were sad and upset and confused with her and the situation became really nasty for no reason. You could see he was clearly upset and hurt on the floor and she expected me to just leave him? Really poor... wish I hadn't wasted the time or money on this visit."

"Anywhere with a specific vegan menu is always worth checking out and my wife and I weren't disappointed. A decent range of vegan options are available, all reasonably priced. I had the sweet potato falafel burger with beetroot hummus which was great. It had a real freshness to it and left me full but wanting more. My wife had the falafel and hummus wrap and she was equally impressed. The place itself is decent, lots of space, nice comfy seats and sofas. The staff were all really helpful too. Definitely worth a look if you're in Stroud and want some good comfort vegan food."

"We have been to the recently refurbished Swan restaurant twice in the past 2 months, after our first meal we were very pleasantly surprised by the huge improvement in the menu choices and the quality of the food. On our second visit last night we were equally impressed. The decor is really nice….l would happily use it for a private function with the addition of tablecloths (that is just my own personal requirement for special occasions! . My fish and chips were just the best l have had for ages…batter not too heavy, fish moist, chips just brilliant. hubby had sea bass and loved it. Please support this local hotel, so good to see them working so hard to give us a nice environment to eat in, and great chef’s in the kitchen, and nice youngsters being trained in the hospitality industry. Well done David, congratulations."

"DO NOT BOOK CLOSED DOWN We came for a wedding and booked a holiday apartment here for 18th May. I had a query beforehand but couldn't get through to the Tipputs Inn at all no answer on email and their voicemail filled up. When we arrived we realised it must have closed down nobody there, post piling up inside the door. There is no evidence online that they have closed down and our booking wasn't cancelled. It looks like it's still possible to book online don't!"

"They try to create a relaxed atmosphere but the very loud and choice of music is more akin to a sleazy strip bar. It's totally out of character for the area. The food choice is minimal and very expensive. The place is best avoided on Fridays and Bank Holidays. There are far better places such as the cafe at Saul Junction where you can have a cheap quiet meal as you watch the boats go by."

"have made some brilliant experiences here since the new beautiful owners have taken over. we took our 3 young children to ruck huh in the Caribbean night all were super friendly and helpful, all the covid regs were reasonable at location and place, but in a very welcoming and organized wise. the food was really served fast (excellent when with young children) and we all had empty teller in no time! was also there for a few beers with friends and had the extremely ingeniously loaded fret. so much care and love is taken over what they do and how customers they can feel these warm as soon as they are there. so, so good to this pub as our local (even if it is not the next for us it is worth the walk!)"

"First impressions of venue and car park were great. We were seated with some confusion by a new member of staff. We consistently waited at every stage of the evening. Drinks order took forever, food order took forever. Decided to order bread and oils while...we waited for our starter, what you dont get told is that the bread arrives at the same time as your starter which was ludicrous, this took about an hour. The toasted sourdough bread arrived untoasted, no one came to do a check back to see if everything was ok and there were no staff around to speak too. Around an hour later our mains were ready so our table was cleared, i made a comment about the started and no comment was made in return. The mains were served 2/4 meals were ok, again no one came to see if everything was ok, the fish was inedible and the chips were anaemic. Again no interest in the amount of food left on plates. Dessert was offered but i had to check we would have enough time to eat it given we had already been there 3 hours! We had to ask for drinks, and when we were offered water it took an hour and a reminder to get it. So disappointed that what should have been a lovely night out was tarnished with poor service and poor food. I chose a special local place and will think twice before i do it again."

"I visited in October 2021. A very welcome lunch after a great walk on the common. They welcome dogs which is just as well given the location but they really do like to see them. The food was good, I enjoyed the duck with was nice a pink, the skin could have been crisper in my opinion for the price. Dessert was tasty. I really the feel this restaurant has, lots of different rooms so it feels intimate and cosy. Great outdoor space for better weather too. I would recommend booking at the weekends."
