"A late lunch meal with my parents on a quiet sunday afternoon. To start I had the ‘Chilli king prawns’, which also came with 4 dough balls (see second picture). The prawn mixture also contained roasted tomatoes, peppers, garlic, and red onion. The dish was very tasty, not a whole lot of prawns but the ones that were there were cooked perfectly, and the mixture that was with them was with a good amount of garlic (which I loveee), however I would have liked more chilli. Dough balls were hot out of the oven and very fluffy and lovely to dip into the juices at the end. For main, I went for the ‘Dup Romana’ where I could choose half and half of the romana style pizzas, of which I went for the ‘La Cabana’ which is a new type of pizza, and ‘Pollo ad astra’. The pollo one is a classic Mills favourite, you can’t go wrong with the sweet yet spicy chicken, onion and pepper combo, as well as some garlic oil drizzled over lightly. The new cabana style one however was SO tasty. The flavours of the pulled pork, tomato and red onion salsa, coriander and lime fit perfectly and made it feel like I was eating a taco on a pizza. Really pleased I went for this combo, as they both had differing flavours but also were both packed full of flavour and really tasty. Would definitely have this as a regular of mine. No dessert as apparently we have some at home. Really good service, as it was very quiet in there, and price not too bad. Overall review: Date visited- 10th September 2023 Food- 9.5/10 Service- 8.5/10 Price- Recommend to a friend- Yes"

"We have been using the tearooms for over 2 years, in that time we have probably visited maybe 1-2 times Monday to Friday and at least once on the weekend, spending both lots of money and a few hours in glorious surroundings.. In the last 6 months, the service and quality has dropped immensley. From reductions in the breakfast roll, whch are inconsistant as sometmes 2 sausages, someties 3 to being told rudely that we can't have ham added to a toasted sandwich at lunch at our expense because the chef is too busy. When I pressed the point that indeed it was a lunch offering at lunch time we were informed that we couldn't have ham as the sandwiches are pre packed out side, scones were out of the question due to uncovered food and flies. Although in height of summer the staff tried to rectify this with thin pieces of deli paper....it failed. This is a waitrose establishment, it prides itself on Waitrose and John Lewis values and quality, but theyre faiing miserably. Only today, a manager approached me and made me feel awful for having sugar on my table, she informed me she liked to keep it at the communal bench with napkins cutlery etc, this is ok but 4 of us came for breakfast we have at least 3 hot drinks each, when we first came to this tearooms, sugar was on every table. The staff seem unhappy and the counter where service is taken is chaotic at the very least. today we were behind a coupe who had been queuing since 11.20 am, when they finally got served at 11.35 they were told that breakfast had stopped? I do think on this occassion they were served, but after discussion. They seem to carry themselves with the outstanding surroundings, and building, to be honest if you were a one time visitor you'd be thrilled and overwhelmed. I'm neither, I'm sad that service is not what one would want from Waitrose, I'm sad the staff seem so rude, I'm sad that flies are able to climb over uncovered pastries and I'm sad that sugar on a table is considered bad form and I'm sad that as a long term customer I'm cross enough to write this and feel unable to approach anyone there as everyone is so cross."

"I went to lucky8 many years ago and it was bad so we thought with the new management and reviews we would go again, we ordered a few bags of chips, and they were the worst hard stale chips, they looked like they were cooked a week ago and re-heated. it really was the worst chips we have ever had, they went straight into bin, waste of money tried calling them, but they told me the owner was busy and to try later!! I tried later and no one answered (8:50pm) I though maybe this was a one off, and I always give restaurants a second chance, so I went two weeks later and ordered chips again and even asked the lady serving Are these fresh and explained about my previous visit, to which she laughed and said yes they are, again the worst chips I have ever had. I wish I could give 0 stars, I read on other reviews that the owner mentioned to ring them before putting up review, I tried calling 6 times!!! over 5 days, either they never answered calls or told me the owner is busy and to call when they are quiet, which I did. I really had high hopes for Lucky 8 especially as we spend a fortune on Chinese food in a excellent restaurant much further away (which does great Chips), so Lucky 8 would have been very convenient for us, but sadly having had two bad experience with something basic as chips has put me off. in my experience this could likely mean they are cutting corners with other dishes."
