"My partner and I visited in May, a birthday treat for us both and the first time we had been out without our 1 year old. We had heard great things about The White Hart since it had been taken over and we wanted to indulge. We ordered a number of items off the starter menu, opting for a Tapas vibe: dirty nachos, halloumi fries, pork belly bites, brie bites, mac cheese, calamari. I then had the sticky BBQ ribs and my partner ordered the rib eye steak medium rare with peppercorn sauce. The guy working the bar and taking our order was lovely, can 't fault him. We sat in the courtyard which was nice and quiet. Food arrived quickly and was piping hot. I wouldn 't have complained about the starters, but events that followed upon us paying had me changing my mind. The pork belly bites were so dry they sucked all moisture from your mouth. The calamari was stringy and the batter unseasoned. The mac cheese had zero flavour. Brie bites were lovely, nachos had plenty of cheese and halloumi fries, according to my partner, were nice. Then our main arrived. I was too full to even contemplate eating my ribs, but they looked good and I 'm sure I would have enjoyed them. My partners steak, on the other hand, was not medium rare, it was blue it was cold inside. He decided he wasn 't going to bother the kitchen for a replacement because he was full as well and would just eat his chips and two small bites of the steak that were cooked at the edges. When our server came to collect our plates we mentioned that the steak was well undercooked and we asked if we could have that taken off the bill because it was inedible. He promptly went and told the kitchen and the head of service, who we then heard shouting at the chef why have you served this? It 's blue, he asked for medium rare. Upon walking to the bar to pay my partner stopped at the kitchen to have a chat with the chef who was initially very apologetic and admitted that it was undercooked. He then did a total u turn out of nowhere and started saying that there was no problem with the steak, he didn 't agree and we couldn 't tell him, with his years of experience in the kitchen, that this was undercooked. At this point the head of service got involved and said she would 'handle ' it. Her idea of 'handling ' it was to shout at us that we were unreasonable and tell us she has 20+ years as a chef and that it 's ridiculous for us to tell her what is and isn 't cooked she didn 't take kindly to being told that we have been eating for 30+ years and know when food is cooked or not...She went on to accuse us of just waking up in the morning and thinking 'I know, I want to go to Yetminster and find a nice quiet pub and cause trouble '. I know that happens, some people have nothing better to do, but after spending over a year looking after my little one day in day out with no break, the idea of going out to 'cause trouble ' was the last thing on my mind. We told the lady that we don 't wish to argue with her, but the food was poor and we don 't believe we should be asked to pay for something that was inedible. We weren 't asking for the whole meal to be wiped off the bill, just remove the cost of the steak. She had it wrapped there on the bar and tried telling us it had been half eaten she had in fact disposed of the two large raw chunks that had been cut off and left on the plate with it. We asked the guy standing next to us at the bar if it looks cooked, if he would eat it. His response was it looks like gristle. Eventually, the lady confirmed that the steak itself costs about a tenner, so we said we will deduct £10 from the bill. She then went on a high and mighty rant about how she will pay the final £10 out of her own pocket. If that 's what you want to do then do it, by that point we had zero sympathy and it was laughable that she was trying to make us feel bad like that after spending the last 10 minutes shouting at us and throwing accusations around. Like I said, we would have let it all go, they would have had a nice review, but instead the staff here were nasty, rude and argumentative. Avoid."

"Honestly the worst customer service I've ever had! We ordered the set menu, which was £23.50pp to eat in or £21.50ph take away. We wanted an evening out to celebrate so decided to eat in. We asked whether we could take the food away if we couldn't eat everything and we were told that it would not be a problem. The food was good but not the best Thai food I've ever had. There was lots left over and the man serving us put it in some take away boxes for us. We heard lots of comments during our meal about how they preferred to be paid in cash etc. We were not told cash only at any point. My husband went out during our meal to find a cash point and withdraw £55 in cash to cover our meal (expecting just under £2 in change) in order to prevent awkwardness at the end. The bill arrived and this is when it all got weird... Our bill arrived and there was no breakdown just a figure of almost £60 written on a slip of paper. We both only had 1 soft drink so we couldn't understand the £6 additional cost. We asked for a breakdown on the bill, thinking we had accidentally been charged for somebody else's drinks. But no we were advised that we were being charged £1 per plastic box to take the food away!!!! I pointed out that we are already paying a lot extra to eat in (including the inflated costs of all items) and that if we had a takeaway at a much cheaper cost for the same food, they would have included the plastic trays in that cost. I searched Amazon and found you could purchase these boxes for £0.09 per box. Other diners in the restaurant made comments to us about where we could purchase our own cheaper food boxes from etc. I walked 10mins to a shop to buy food bags so we could take our food home without having to pay a crazy amount of money and having to go to the cash point again. While I was gone, I phoned my husband, which is when it all kicked off. Other diners from other tables got involved and pointed out that it's a ridiculous charge and it should have been mentioned beforehand, at the point of ordering. The waiter was saying that the boxes are expensive and that they wouldn't buy them on Amazon because they don't know the quality. £1 per box covers the cost of the boxes they buy. At that point the waiter got frustrated, raised his voice and stormed off to fetch the boss (chef). She repeated the same things that the waiter said, saying that they need to cover their costs and we needed to pay for the plastic boxes they had given us, claiming that we were being unreasonable by questioning this. This is when several other people in the restaurant got involved, agreeing with us and pointing out that they had never seen such an approach taken elsewhere and saying how unfair it is to add such a charge on at the end without any communication about it at any point. People who were waiting for a take away also expressed their surprise and disbelief at what we were being asked to pay for. Eventually after loads of awkwardness and embarrassment he took it off the bill and we paid for the original expected amount with the £55 we had withdrawn from the cash point. We were then asked if we wanted our change?!!!?! I mean do you seriously think we would leave a tip after all of that? I've never been anywhere without leaving a 10% tip, so ironically most of the plastic boxes would have been paid for through the tip if the poor customer service hadn't upset the entire restaurant!"

"I cannot find fault at all abso perfect in every way! Our group had Vegan burger, Pork faggots Cumberland sausage meals. Had to control ourselves not to lick the plates it was so tasty! All homemade and so, so tasty. We squeezed ourselves into the last remaining non reserved table and were served within seconds of going to order even though busy. Once a bigger table became free the landlord cleaned it and came over to offer it to us rather than saving for a bigger party so kind and thoughtful not what I'm used to out my way! About 12 vegan/veg dishes and plenty of meat/fish dishes of various delicacies about 40 meals ish. It seemed a standardised pricing one price fits all meals which was really refreshing idea. Busy, but lovely atmosphere where everyone seemed to know each other very welcoming nothing seemed too much trouble to landlord/lady. Once food scoffed we had an hour to spare before we had to make a move and didn't feel at all we had to make room for someone else. This sounds silly but I really appreciate a good hand soap these days (yes I'm pushing late 40's) and I was really happy to find Molton Brown hand soap in the toilets not a luxury I get in my local haunts (must try to upgrade my locals). Only thing I realy would recommend is to book we were so very lucky to get a space and |I wouldn't want anyone disappointed! Anyway give it a go you won't be disappointed!"

"I purchased a groupon voucher. First time I tried to use it I booked a table for two over the phone. No problem they booked me in for the specified time. But when I said I had a groupon voucher I was told I could only use it on a quiet night, not the night which I had already booked for. Ok. So I rebooked for a 'quiet night '. When we arrived it was empty. We were the only people there. We ordered drinks and food. Food was mediocre. Quality rather than quantity, not what I would expect from an Indian restaurant. I would compare it to Iceland frozen curry. We didn 't complain but decided we wouldn 't bother with dessert. The Manager knew we were using a groupon voucher before we ordered however when we wanted to pay and I showed him the photo of the groupon voucher on my phone complete with barcode, Security code and groupon code he scrutinised every detail on it. He said there was no date on it and said to me that people try to use vouchers which are out of date. I then had to point out to him the valid date on it. Then he said we should have printed it out. Then he messed about trying to take a photo of it with his own phone. Then he said I had to give him my phone number in case there was a 'problem ' with the voucher. It was really very awkward. Almost as though he just didn 't want to redeem it. I have used groupon before and I know how to use the groupon voucher code and merchants have never had a problem taking the details off my phone before. I had already read several reviews about the spice centre bad customer service but I had decided to purchase the groupon voucher anyway. I really wished I hadn 't. I won 't go again and will warn everyone I know not to waste their time or money on the Spice centre."
