"Negatives: I did not feel welcome by most of the staff at Brewers Fayre High Wycombe. I was staying there for work related business with my son and I am a person of colour. There were a few occurrences that happened. I went to the counter where two staff members saw me enter and didnt greet me and there was a Caucasian Family behind me. The Young lady wearing glasses at the counter totally ignored me, and looked straight at the family and asked for their order. The family looked over at me and said to her , 'This lady came before us '. I went in for Dinner with my son, we placed at a middle table and I asked for a different table in a corner. We already had a reservation. The young man told us several tables were reserved. I didn 't have a problem with that. Found a nice table in the corner and then My son and I were left there for 20 minutes. Other people were being served and no one came to ask us what we wanted to drink. I had to go up to one of the servers and ask for someone to come and serve us. After that, all we were getting was attitude by the staff. One girl even rolled her eyes at me. I understand they were probably busy, but customer service is important. Another time I asked for my plate to be wrapped, the lady I asked seemed annoyed and dropped all the forks and spoons in a bucket of water. If she had said, 'Yes of course, please give me a minute while I wash my Hands '....which she didn 't. I felt like Hygiene is not being practiced there. The establishment was not very clean. I have put up pictures of the plate I was served food on and the wall that looked dirty. The Establishment needs a deep clean. Positives: The Manager, her name is TASH, she was the first one I met on the first day and she was so welcoming and I could feel her genuine positive Energy. Her staff could learn a few things or two from her about hospitality. She was really welcoming. The food was tasty. I ordered the Thai Chiken Curry several times and my son had burgers and he enjoyed it. Even the young lady called Casey, I briefly bumped into was very nice. But I have to say that Tash has been consistently welcoming everytime I have entered her establishment."

"Well, have been to this place a total of 5 times, first time was good, nothing special but value for money was alright and I couldn’t fault them so naturally we thought lets go back, then second time not amazing, asked for half a duck to find shards of bone in the food. Most places have the bone in the pot which isn’t an issue, but shards of bone which is hard to go through all the shredded meat to decipher wasn’t amazing. Third time ordered beef in black bean sauce beef was as tough as a leather shoe so i stopped getting that option. Fourth visit decided to opt for chilli beef as the other two disappointed me and my partner to find the smell and taste of fish which i am sure was due to frying in the same oil as fish which ruined that food. Fifth time (probably thinking why bother due to the previous visits, well sometimes rough patches can happen to businesses especially due to covid so always give places another chance plus the value of food is a factor) was today, to be quite frank I didn’t order anything, 6pm rang to order 2 portions of ribs and a chow mein. To be told can’t collect until 9pm. That is absurd! How can it take 3 hours to COLLECT a simple order??? Finally to add the last 3 visits has consisted of gradual terrible customer service. Today and the time before has taken a total of 1.5 hours of ringing time as they don’t answer the phone. When you do get through the response from front of house greeting is as joyful as talking to dry old cardboard in other words you get more joy from a pull bearer at a funeral. Safe to say I won’t be going back there. A total shame as they could do a lot better if they change their staff and standards as the first visit was good."

"After waiting a week to calm down, I wanted to provide a more balanced review of my experience at this pub. While a house feels like a home with people in it, a pub becomes inviting with experienced staff who can handle unexpected situations smoothly. In short: - My party of five arrived for a lunch reservation. - The pub became busy with other diners, including a large group of 12-14 people. - We were informed by our server that there was a kitchen issue, so only jacket potatoes and sandwiches were available. We ordered accordingly. - However, the large group and a few other tables received hot meals, with the explanation that they had pre-ordered. - It was frustrating to see plates of chips being prepared as we ordered more drinks at the bar. - Our food never arrived, and when we inquired, we were told there were many other diners to serve before us. - Despite checking with our server again while she offered more drinks, we were informed that there were still six tables ahead of us. Disappointed and hungry, we decided to cancel our order, settle the drinks bill, and leave. It was disappointing that we couldn't eat due to the kitchen issue, but I understand that problems happen. However, it was frustrating to watch others enjoy their meals while we went without. It's not fair to see those who came after us being served before us, and it's simply disrespectful to dismiss our concerns. I won't be coming back, and based on my friends' experiences at other pubs nearby, I would recommend trying elsewhere. Please note that the quotes from the staff are not exact."

"Afternoon tea for us is a regular occurrence both at home and when travelling. I had not been to Danesfield house for many years and not wishing to travel into London and being completely put off Cliveden by their GBP 7 per head supplement for just using the driveway, Danesfield seemed like a good option. The full afternoon tea was an obvious choice and there is a nice variety of teas to choose, we went with Oolong. When we arrived and met together in the hall there were two young mums with their broods of noisy children, we hoped they would stay there but unfortunately no, they soon followed us into the Orangery. Such a shame to have the ambience of tea on a wet afternoon spoiled by someone else’s children. The sandwiches were a nice selection and the scones absolutely wonderful; light and fluffy, so if we had not been so hungry we could all have probably been happy with just a cream tea and they are happy to bring extra cream when asked. Battenberg cake was super, as was the chocolate choux pastry bun and I enjoyed the macarons, although my husband found them overly sweet. The little fruit tartlets were bland and soggy and could well have gone without and having seen my husband taken a bite and put it aside I didn’t even try the pink angel delight whatever it was. So, a lovely setting for tea, perhaps they should introduce a no children under 14 policy? tea selection is good and scones superb. If I return, I probably would not bother with a full tea and would stick with the cream tea. Service is good helpful and unobtrusive. GBP 30 is expensive for the selection and quality of tea cakes provided, the cream tea in comparison is absolutely excellent value. But I guess the costs reflects the current craze for tea being experienced by the UK."

"On arriving at Grovefield House the grounds are a welcome site and you do feel it is going to be a great experience. The Staff whp served us our welcome drink were pleasant but not very generous with measures and half a glass if that were poured into short wine glasses. The food was then ready to be delivered to the tables. The first course I had was the Leek and Potato soup which was pleasant but I have had better or the same out of a tin. Others around me had the Pate on Toast which was adequate but the toast that was served was so small it was not enough to use the Pate. The fish starter was so small it was nearly not visible so not recommended for the hearty eater. Then came the Main, I had chosen the vegetarian which was inadequately small, bland and not appetising at all. It arrived with pea sized potatoes around the outside and a sprig of rocket. The Chicken main was a little bigger as was the Salmon main but nobody was impressed and were all very disappointed. After the disaster of the first 2 courses we all waited for the Sweet. Unfortunately the majority had gone for the Brule it arrived in a very small ramekin with a sweet basket and 2 Yes 2 rasberries. The Brule was a total disaster, the topping was totally made up of Salt it was a very big disappointment and in fact unpalatable. Complaints were coming from all directions they did replace it with a sorbet but was not even enough to cover the bowl. The tart however was commented on to be pleasant. All in all I would not recommend as this was Overpriced, Unpleasant and a real disappointment. I would not recommend and to be honest you would find a much cheaper pleasant place to eat and party just down the road so Sorry Grovefield House you have lost my vote."
