"I've eaten here a number of times. It's menu is comprehensive and the food good. However this review is for the accommodation. It's a beautiful old building in which to say. I was in the spacious en suite room. I love the fact that its old character remains. It hasn't been turned into a bland corporate hotel look that so many pubs have copied. Currently they are not doing breakfast but at £65/night I think it's a bargain. However you are staying in a very popular drinking pub so if you don't like a bit of noise this may not be the place for you but to me it adds to the atmosphere!"

"I called to place a takeout order for pickup, left my name, and there was another person with the same name scheduled to pick up their order at 6:30pm, while I was scheduled to pick up at 5:20pm. The person scheduled for 6:30pm arrived early and mistakenly took my order. They returned with my order after realizing the mistake, and the staff offered me their food since they had taken mine in error. However, I declined as I preferred to have my order freshly cooked. It was just a simple misunderstanding due to having the same name, despite our different pickup times. The situation was quickly resolved with fresh food cooked for me, and it was delicious. I have no complaints as the issue was resolved promptly. I will continue to order from this restaurant as I love their Chinese takeout. Happy New Year and all the best for 2023!"

"I loved this restaurant for years under the previous management for special occasion meals. My first visit under the new management not so much not the fabulous creations that you wouldn't dream in daily cooking at home. In fact it was just like home cooking but at the highest price we have ever paid at this restaurant. Chips were never served here before it would be a dish of lovely crispy roast potatoes with another dish of fresh vegetables. My meal was served with matchstick size chips and sticks of leeks. The pork loin was also not as tender as it could of been. My husband had steak with salad and chips. Our starter was a tiny blob of cream cheese with crumbs of something and the frangipane wasn't that special I have had better. We went as my daughter bought us a voucher for Christmas but I suspected that the previous chef at this restaurant could not be matched before I went and I was right. It was OK for and average price but it wasn't and average price it was the most expensive price we have had there. My review as always is my personal experience."

"Best local pub for miles! Great quality and variety of food on offer, particularly good vegetarian options. Always fresh and hot food. Drinks choices have been good with lots of options. The recent pale ale swap wasn’t to my tasting but you can’t win them all. The garden and outdoor seating is very generous, but will get full on a busy day. Kids climbing frame, swings and trampoline on offer. Plenty of parking round the back. The staff are all very friendly and try to keep on top of service, with the preference being service away from the bar (even for drinks at busy times) which some people don’t like. But it keeps their bar area clear and quiet for those sitting nearby which makes sense. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"
