Ate here today and absolutely loved it. The service was fantastic, friendly and very quick to take orders and serve food. The menu has lots of choice, and we even got a couple of freebies due to the kitchen cooking the wrong order- so instead of wasting it or it sitting under a bulb they gave us it for free! We found the price really competitive, and we will definitely return on our next visit to York.

Just saw this place looking around the town, fortunate to get in at short notice. You know you've chosen well when the place is booked up on a Monday and more and more people keep coming in to find it's full! Opted for a sharing board to start with, which was very nice. But the star was the beautiful seafood paella, which was very tasty and a generous portion for two to share. Would definitely recommend and would go again if we were in York for longer.

A serendipitous meeting led us to find out that there was another Ambiente after we visited the Fossgate site in March. In a less industrial decor we once again had a selection of great Tapas and sherry. The dates wrapped in bacon and stuffed with Picos blue cheese were a great starter. The mussels were very highly flavoured with a great Picada, the secreto iberico also served with top notch Romescu sauce and finally the Albondigas in a rich densely smokey tomato and olive sauce. The portobello mushrooms were superb too. Staff knowledge of both food and sherry good. Great service and brigade turn out attractive as well as delicious food. Ver carta

Really lovely tapas food, with a good selection of veggie dishes. Ordered 5 dishes to share. 4 were excellent, one was not nice ...the butternut squash, which had a very odd taste. We did let our waitress know as we're not fussy eaters at all, and said it's the only dish on the menu she doesn't like, so maybe it's not just us! Service was good, and brownie for desert was lovely. Wine I wanted was out of stock, but she recommended another one which was excellent. Restaurant itself was nice but very very warm, and the windows were old sash ones, so not open much, so overall was quite stuffy. Would visit again, but probably try another branch. The Fossgate one looked a bit nicer.

I went here tonight, and after walking past it many times and wondering what it was like, I ventured in with anticipation and the expectation of a good meal. However,upon entering the restaurant, there was nobody to greet us or ask if we required a table eve though they were not busy. So after seating ourselves in the bar area, someone finally arrived for us to ask to be seated. They gave us the menus and brought us drinks. After being told times that our table was ready, an hour later, we got seated, but we were still looking forward to eating our choices from their descriptions on the menus. Service was prompt, however, along with chicken and the chorizo which had the taste and texture of...
